This video captures a political debate where Labour MP Martin Daubney argues that Wes Streeting's distinction between patriotism and nationalism is problematic, as it implies that voting Reform makes one a nationalist while voting Labour makes one a patriot, which Daubney rejects as an unfair generalization that ignores individual political choices and regional identities.

“I consider myself Cornish, not English!” - Labour MP HILARIOUS moment as he BACKS Wes StreetingAdded:
You'd have to ask English people. I consider myself Cornish and not English.
You don't get to decide what patriotism is. What planet is West Streeting on?
Then I I don't subscribe to that view at all. We're not trying to determine who who's a patriot or not. Look, I'm a very very proud Cornishman. I consider myself Cornish.
>> That's cuz I'm a working class lad from the coal belts who's sick to the back teeth of being told that my version of patriotism isn't an off the off the peg one that you guys decide. And you and you suddenly decide that people are nationalists. And what you really mean, just just say it out loud, what you really mean is fascist. I think that's what you really mean.
You just be you can't say that anymore cuz it gets you in too much trouble. You call you call people racist, you call people far right. Now the new buzzword is nationalist and it's making people sick to the back teeth. We we're not nationalists. We're not overtly pushing for a breakaway from from the United Kingdom. It's perfectly reasonable to have a debate about patriotism. I don't necessarily sense that that's what was coming out of of of West Streeting's speech, which as I say I I was I was in there listening to it.
No one's saying if you're voting Reform, you must be a nationalist. And if you're voting Labour, you should be a patriot.
You must be a patriot.
>> was a patriot. He claimed to be in that speech. Maybe that's something you're not.
>> that.
He didn't say that. He didn't say that.
He didn't say that.
That's not what he said.
>> that. He said hope over hate, patriotism over nationalism. So there's a choice.
There's a choice to make. He made that distinction clear. You're either a good patriot or a bad nationalist.
Hope over hate is divisive.
>> What he What he didn't say is if you vote Reform, you're a nationalist. And if you vote Labour, you're a patriot.
That's what you just said and he didn't say that.
