Trace mineral treatments, particularly copper, boron, and zinc sulfate, significantly improve chestnut tree production by increasing catkin length, female flower count, and overall tree health, with treated trees showing up to 16 inches of new growth and dramatically higher nut production potential compared to untreated trees.

Chestnut Tree Update 2026 Trace Mineral ResultsAdded:
growing monster whitetail bucks.
>> All right, guys. We're going to do a chestnut tree update here. I wasn't planning on doing this one, but there's some important items of note as I continue to show you the results of Trace Minerals that I'm seeing an an additional record broken that I didn't think would really happen. And it may not seem like much of a a big deal, but it actually is when it comes to terms of success for your trees.
So, we're up here at the largest tree that I've got and uh we have, you know, a lot of catkins here. All right. So, I've already established in the other video, it has broken a record for the most catkins produced. It has also broken a new record for the most female flowers that has been produced. So, this tree is going to shatter old production records.
Even back in here now, there's better production on these shaded limbs. So, what am I doing the video for? It is cacking length. This is important when it comes to understanding. Hold on a second. I have bugs all over me, which is what's going to happen when you get near these trees. I mean, I'm sure you can see tons of them right there. just going to town doing their job. But length of of the catkins is very important. Okay. So, my previous set was probably somewhere right back in here.
So, I've added that. Okay. I've nearly doubled the length of the catkins.
And you can see right here just how long they're getting.
So, my pollination rates will be fantastic because of the additional length.
There's more pollen. I've doubled the pollinators as far as length. I've more than tripled the amount of catkins this tree has produced. It has also increased female flower rates, which you can see a pretty good looking pair right there.
Now, this one is not as heavy as some of my other trees, but it is much better.
It's averaging about two per limb right now. Uh which is a a sharp increase over mainly just producing one. And occasionally you get a pretty good group. So we got much better looking leaf color. See how deep green we are.
Leaves are bigger. Catkins are bigger.
More female flowers. I think these trace minerals help check every box you're looking for when it comes to seeing successful trees like this. So, if you're trying to up your nut production, I used a combination of copper and boron. I also treated this tree with zinc. Zinc can play a good role later on, but maybe not so much right now. And again, I'll save that for the zinc video.
But you can see what I was talking about here. Cutting that limb off. See how far down this thing's hanging now? It's got so much weight on it.
I mean, it's down here almost hanging to my waist.
Actually, it's more like my chest. But there, three female flowers on this one, covered in bugs. That's exactly what these trees are designed to do.
So when you see all these bugs here, that's good. Do not do not destroy those. They are your pollinators.
And then the smell is so strong this year. And it's not even at peak. It is I can smell it all the way back through there at the hilltop. I mean, it's getting stronger every day. This rain is making these trees actually come to life more. Several of them have started growing again. Even the sick tree. I got a surprise for you. Hadn't really checked this sick tree for females, but lookie right there. So, we went from a dying tree to a producing tree. Trace mineral only was all that was treated here. And this tree has started making a big turnaround. So, the next phase for this tree will be growth fertilizers, and that'll be your regular PNK. We're going to try to fix this whole place up and have that to get these trees to grow to another level. Also, uh, another tree of note that's kind of surprising me now is the shelter tree is just putting on growth. It does have catkins. Nowhere near as many as the other trees, but that type of growth is what I want to see. Okay, that was also treated with trace minerals, and it's probably averaging now 16 in of new growth. So, it has come on strong in the last week or so. Uh, I can tell it's already quite a bit thicker in the trunk because of that. And this tree will have a hard time producing as long as you got this big ugly limb uh hanging over the top of it. I mean, if I could afford to have somebody cut that off, I would.
All right, big tree right here is growing again.
This one had temporarily stopped growing and now that we are getting absolutely inundated with rain, it has started up again. So, we've gotten 4 and 1/2 in and still counting. We still have at least 10 more days of high chances of rain. I mean, we're talking no less than 50%, most of it 70, 80, and 90%.
Uh, these trees are definitely was in a need of a drink and now they're showing the results of fully hydrated trees. Uh, this one's catkins are, like I said, behind in the earlier videos, but it is about to pop. So, this one should do all right.
That one uh has done pretty darn good.
Nice recovery.
I mean, it's much healthier looking than previous years. Really darkened up a lot, especially with the rains we've been getting.
Started moving nutrients around finally and getting hydration back in these trees. So, we're we're doing good here.
This tree is growing again on a few limbs. The of course the sucker limb or sucker sprout has not stopped growing.
That is over 2 and 1/2 ft of length.
Still tacking it on.
You could probably see a little better here with that one. Uh lot more catkins there. A lot of fresh growth. That one's taken off. This tree here has done better than last year for sure.
It has beaten growth rates from last year on probably over 80% of the tree.
Really starting to thicken up. Very bushy tree for a chestnut tree. That one is loaded with good limbs. And of course, I do need to thin some of them out because they're growing in bad places. So, next year, it probably won't look quite as thick. And we'll get rid of some bad bad growing limbs and let the good ones take over. But this one has grown 16 to 18 inches. Still tacking on additional growth and really good catkin numbers like the big tree up there.
We are seeing increases in the number of catkins produced. Look how super green and shiny that is now. I mean that is really that rain has helped so much. So there's three female flowers right there. Those are coming on. This tree is late compared to some of my others. And you'll notice that when you plant enough of these guys, you'll have some that are early, some that are right on time, and some that are late. This one's late. I would rather have the ones that are early, right on time, and late. You're covering all facets of pollination that way. As long as you got two trees that are late, you're okay. Or two trees early, you're okay.
This one is doing much better. It's not as dark green as the others. Of course, I didn't do a potassium treatment right here. Of course, I didn't put potassium out anywhere except for here and up into here last year. So, this tree is kind of showing me some signs that a little potassium couldn't hurt it. Uh, growth is doing pretty good. I'd say we're averaging about a foot, maybe a little more in some cases. I know that limb right here has grown uh almost 20 something inches long there. It's not quite 2 ft. It's getting close though, but it has perked up. And see, this is what I was talking about. That is about what the average catkin was looking like lengthwise.
I have got so many bugs on me. See the difference?
So if I stick my hand up here, see that's the difference between more failure versus success of the big tree up there. Now this one, of course, I've mentioned this several times. I am really proud of this tree. Again, fantastic production specimen. This tree is going to be absolutely killing it with females this year. And I'm I'm afraid that limbs are going to start breaking when these guys develop.
So we have an extremely heavy load of catkins female flowers. This tree is averaging about four per limb, maybe maybe pushing five per limb. Uh you know, you got a you got a legitimate shot here of having uh burrs with up to six, seven nuts in them.
That's insane.
Hold on a second here. Had to get another bug off of me.
Everywhere you look, female flowers. Female flowers. Lots and lots of female flowers caked all over this tree.
This is like genetic potential that I'm looking for. Okay, we're we're getting it out with trace minerals.
Using PNK won't get you these type of results.
Look at all them females. All these limbs are just absolutely eat up. You can see see the problem I'm looking at right here. Look at how thick that is.
And that is all averaging four or five female flowers per limb right here.
Okay, this limb is in serious jeopardy of breaking in the future.
But if we can get this tree to keep growing, that might be just enough to keep it from snapping limbs. That's why I want this tree to keep right on growing.
You can I mean, wow. Just wow for this tree.
Eat up.
All right. This tree, this one is starting to express like what I talked about here. This one is looking more and more like this one every year now as far as catkins and females that it's leaping to. It is also showing signs of longer catkins.
Okay, another big bonus, like I mentioned in production quality, we need all the pollen we can get to make sure we have a high pollination rate. So, I'm looking forward to above average pollination this year just because the length of those guys has doubled in some cases. Some of them are about one/3 larger, but some of them have doubled.
There might be some tripled, maybe.
Okay, now this tree.
Man, it is so annoying with all these bugs, but they're they're here for a reason.
All right, growth. Growth. Growth. This is the growth king of my chestnuts this year so far. I figured it probably would have another stellar year, especially with that huge sucker that I cut off of it. And just when I take a break from getting rid of them, they come shooting up again. I would recommend staying on top of this while it's growing. You want to force energy into the main tree. This is stealing energy when it's growing.
Also really putting on some girth. Again, exactly what I want. I'll come in here and clean out around these trees here pretty soon.
Right. The only reason that I haven't cut this stuff was to maintain moisture.
If I had cut this down to the ground, we would lost a lot of moisture. So, that's the only reason this is still standing.
But here you can see fantastic growth.
So I'm going to I mean my elbow is here.
This is out to my chest.
That's approaching uh 2 and 1/2 ft or more. This whole this tree here is averaging 2 feet. Maybe pushing uh 27 in for average. That up there.
See how lengthy that's gotten? That's all been within the last week. It is flat out taking off. And now that it's got water, yes, it's definitely in good shape. Uh probably the way it's going right now, this tree will probably grow 5 to 6 feet. Let's see if we can do that. Maybe push it to 10 if I do the right fertilizing.
All right, this one is the one I was concerned about in the previous videos.
Not anymore. You know, growth could be better here. It is growing again. So, that's good news. Like I said, there is moisture retaining issues right here.
This whole area of this part of the field is really low in potassium. I can just tell by looking at it that tree would benefit very well with a heavy dose of potassium. That one may skyrocket with that type of potassium I want to put out here.
This one is doing well. We have female flowers.
So again, this tree is in the production column. There they are. I can smell the tree.
Something you don't forget for you first time tree guys is the smell these trees make. This is my backup will be gone after this year.
That means there's going to be a lot of new energy forced back into this tree.
So next year we could see some really good growth. There's also more female flowers there.
Right there.
Uh maybe. Yep. There is one right there.
So, this one's going to have multiple burrs this year. So, it's only going to get better from here.
So, that one's back into production.
That one's doing well. It is also shooting out like crazy now. Good amount of rain and off we go. So, that tells me that the moisture here is a big problem as far as retaining it. Even though we are near a creek that has big caverns under the ground with all kinds of springs and water, it's just not right here. So, we'll work on that. Maybe as the tree gets bigger and those roots seek out, it'll get down into where that moisture is at.
This one, same thing. Happy to report more increased growth. This one is not as productive as the others. And again, this is also somewhat sheltered with these big old oak trees right here.
But I think we're in in a much better shape across the board this year thanks to doing copper sulfate, boron, maganese sulfate, and now zinc sulfate.
And the the clue also is sulfate. Three rounds of a sulfate treatment. Like I said, my sulfur production was single digits once you got out of the plot. You think it's single digits here?
Absolutely. Hopefully now it's at least in double. And that is going to help with the the nuts and everything else on this tree as they start producing. So, it's going to be a better quality nut and a better quality tree because of these trace minerals. All right, guys.
shorted video, but these trees are really blowing away my expectations.
Again, this angle here, you can see tons of good growth. Just keeps on going. All right, guys. Don't forget, hit that like and subscribe button. More information coming. And then we'll see later on in the summer how many of these guys are going to be in trouble with the amount of nuts they're going to produce. Have a good one.
