Community members have the right to participate in government decision-making processes and hold officials accountable, as demonstrated by residents of Shaw Nature Reserve organizing protests and using live streaming to voice their opposition to proposed AI data center development, emphasizing that silencing public voices undermines democratic governance.

Livestreaming at Shaw Nature Reserve 6/1/26Added:
money from whatever they got.
>> Well, we're at the commuter lot just across the street from >> Saw Nature Reserve.
>> We're waiting for Elliot Davis to show up >> to interview people.
>> So, I thought I'd go live here and get all these wonderful people.
something like that.
>> It's the uh >> I love Chris. Hey, welcome back.
>> No data.
>> Yeah, >> no data.
>> $25.
>> Hey, Thomas.
Somebody's hiding back there. I think that's >> my job.
>> Yep.
>> Travel like by Jeep or a van. band and most of our 12 people band >> I'm live streaming. Anybody want to say anything?
>> Great to have this many people on short notice.
>> How long have you done?
>> And we need to do the same thing at the commissioners meeting.
>> So >> yeah, let's go.
>> That's a good That's a good amount of money.
>> Want to say anything?
Yeah, I'm surprised as well to see how many uh people showed up last minute.
>> Utah, >> hopefully this will show that we're not okay with what's going on right now.
Having a community that drop everything to come out here and talk and be able to get the message out that, you know, we have concerns, we want change, we want to be heard. um silencing us isn't going to be the way to do it, especially in these governmental offices and meetings and changing the agenda order. And I come on my work break to go to these commissioner meetings and whenever they change things up like they did last week, it kind of pissed me off because I should be able to go to the meeting, know the order, be able to get my word out and be able to talk to these commissioners and make a difference of maybe what they're thinking. I don't know.
>> But I also feel like with meeting next week cancing the public comment only written statement.
>> We got to do Hawaii last year. Big step in the wrong direction.
Be able to say what we want to go and have comment no matter what it is and say it out loud so everybody can hear.
>> Being out here with all these people and showing that you cannot silence us is the big message we're trying to show today.
Thank you.
>> You have anything to say?
>> No.
>> Let's see. Like I said, we're here across the Shaw Nature Reserve and they have a lot to lose because they there's a hypers scale AI data center going to go in just down Robertsville Road right across from Shaw Nature Reserve and uh it's going to be devastating for this very unique place.
>> But we found out today that they're not going >> it's not going to be good.
right now. No, we have two township.
>> Who's who's the other township there?
Oh, BS. So, BS with uh Clinky, he had to recuse himself because he works for Echo Camp and then we have no representative from the township, Calvie Township, because that's the that's the seat that McLaren sat in. And when he was forced, basically the people of the community forced him to resign because of conflict of interest. It was very evident. Um they have not. So we have no representation for Cali Township which is literally the township that is directly adjacent to McLaren's property.
>> What do we My problem is people are not being held accountable.
>> So who gives these commissioners?
the governor and the governor is the corrupt one who put Dave Shots in there to begin with. This is all trickling down from the state.
>> So Brinker was in there. Brinker.
>> So Kho gets elected. He comes in and as soon as he comes in in less than a month and a half, you had Rinker resign and go to Greater St. Louis. He goes to Greater St. Louis. Then he goes and brings shots in and puts him in Brinker's position for Franklin County. Lo and behold, what do we have going in down in St. Louis?
>> An AI data center. Guess who's behind that one. You got Breaker down in there pushing it. He's a yes man. He used to work for LB camp. I guarantee he probably in some way, shape, or form still does.
>> And you got shots. What are we trying to put in here?
>> It all trickles down here again.
>> I know.
>> That's a disgusting corrupt mess. Yeah, I was going to say, yeah, you know, holding them accountable >> and nobody else.
>> Um, >> we got puppies.
Well, yeah. I'd like to be a partner.
Hello.
>> Hi. Nice to meet you.
>> This is Janine.
>> Hi.
>> Hi. Nice to meet you.
>> Um, if our if our house we bought a rehab two years ago. Well, it was a rehab. It was a foreclosure. That was trash.
>> Okay.
>> We're still rehabbing. And >> All right. Today's like Wednesday.
Okay. For Thursday to Friday, >> I bet you got anything to say.
>> Oh, hey, we got to get out here and tell them we deserve to be part of this process. Don't take away our right to speak.
>> Yeah, that's that's not right.
>> Commissioners, Franklin County Commissioners, we deserve to have a say in this. And you should listen to us. We voted you in to represent us.
>> That's why I'm out here tonight.
>> All right.
building >> actually come out and join us. We're right across from the Shaw Nature Reserve >> and we're waiting for Elliot Davis to show up to interview people. This is kind of a popup protest that started uh earlier today and uh anyhow, bunch of people that are out and protesting.
We'll be here for a little while.
>> And we want everybody to uh to show up and talk to Elliot if you can.
>> Hey Annie, do you want to say anything?
>> I'm pissed. I want our voices heard. So have them listen. We've all said a lot of stuff. We've given them information.
It's a brick wall. If they've listened, they know no one wants it.
So, I mean, there's not much else to say except listen to the freaking people.
>> Well, thank you.
>> Hey, Curtis, you got anything to say?
>> Um, just got to say that I'm disappointed in our representation in our uh commissioners right now. It's It's sad to see that something that does not vote for them, does not uh that they don't represent, it means more to them than the people that do they do represent.
Y.
>> Thank you.
>> We got a bunch of folks here at Shaw Nature Reserve right across the street.
Nobody, nobody that I've ever talked to is supportive of the AI data centers in Franklin County. Nobody.
Nobody.
Nobody. Nobody at any of the meetings, the 11-hour meeting, the 13-hour meeting, nobody is supportive of the AI data centers. Nobody showed up to say anything. Nobody.
So, that's why we're here protesting today.
>> Hi, Twilight. You got something to say?
How come you're here? I'm here because I'm still doing the fight against data centers and uh we found out today that uh we are not going to be able to speak any longer at the public um at the commissioners meetings which is suppression is against and they said we can still send in our because what's really important is when you speak it it's on public record.
So that's why I'm here today specifically. I'm still going to go to the commissioner's meeting tomorrow morning. I will turn in my speech, but uh Dana Bower said that she's going to live stream it and we can voice our public speaker, our public speech there, so we will still get our message out.
>> Good. Good. Keep it up.
>> Thank you. Thank you.
Hey, how are you?
>> You got anything to say for the live stream?
I think the getting rid of public comments is >> I think getting rid of public comments is disgusting and the double whammy of getting rid of the historical meetings is a sign that they have something to hide and they're scared and people just need to keep showing up and keep digging and keep hitting those sunshine requests. Sunshine requests are your friends. uh a a tip a trick you can use on the sunshine request. If you know the email domain like at jeffco.gov or whatever email sunshine that domain and you'll loop every email back and forth between your local government and the Missouri Department of Economic Development, whatever. And don't just hit your local government. Go for the obscure ones. Okay. Go for the economic development groups and the Missouri the Amaran uh public service commission. Go after those and >> bring out the truth and expose it.
>> Good. Thank you.
>> All right. Well, we're gonna stop the live stream for right now and we may start it up a little while and uh we're just gonna stay out here and uh keep protesting and hopefully Elliot will be showing up here pretty soon. Hope to see y'all here.
No, it's >> guess.
