Every drop is liquid gold | The benefits of havrsting colustrum
Added:Hi guys. So today it is day four of harvesting colostrum and I've gotten a lot of questions. People asking me why I'm doing this. Some people think that I'm crazy for doing this or my doctor doesn't know what she is talking about when they telling me to harvest colostrum or that it's okay for me to collect colostrum. Uh so let me tell you why I'm harvesting colostrum or the benefits of colostrum. Colostrum, it contains a lot of um nutrients and antibodies which can help support the baby's immune system and fight infections, right? And also this can be stored in the refrigerator in the freezer up to 6 months. So even 6 months after the baby's born, we can still give this to the baby. So um let's say for example the baby gets sick, we can give this and it's good to fight infections or viruses when the baby gets sick. And if maybe the baby has a rash, we can apply it on their skin or put it in the bath bathtub when we are bathing the baby. And when the babies are born, sometimes they struggle to latch uh on the booby. So I think that sometimes can force a lot of parents to give the formula sorry to give babies formula straight away and I want to prevent that because I want to exclusively breastfeed. So if maybe the baby has struggles um latching after birth or straight away after birth, then I have colostrum start for the baby and we can just give the baby colostrum which is still the breast milk.
And let's say for example, God forbid if we're separated, maybe I go for I have to go for C-section. Um, and we I probably after C-section I have to be in recovery and I will not be able to breastfeed the baby and instead of my husband or the doctors at the hospital, nurses, whoever, instead of them giving them the baby formula, they will give the baby uh colostrum because like I said, I want to exclusively breastfeed. And um yes, I think I said I did mention that it can help also fight bacteria. When the baby has rash or when the baby is sick, we still give it to the baby. Up to 6 months after the baby's born, we can still use this colostrum. So, this has a lot of benefits. And the people that are telling me that I'm crazy for doing this, that I don't know what I'm doing, I know what I'm doing. And my daughter knows what she's talking about. Okay.
So, now let me show you how much I managed to get today. Also, someone asked if they can use um bags to store colostrum. I think it's better to use these uh syringes. I've got I got the 5 mil syringes uh from Amazon. Uh some people are using 1 mil, but I just decided to buy 5 mil. I think it's I don't know. For me, I think it's better.
So, day four, how much? I just want to show you how much I managed to get.
This is day four.
I'm so proud. I'm so happy. I don't know what I did different today, but I think those pads that I uh used yesterday, I I used them again today. I think they are really helping keep them for 5 minutes.
Got them from Mom Cozy. I will also show you the package. Uh it's actually a breastfeeding kit that I got from Mom Cozy, which I will show you maybe in the next video. So, this is how much I managed to get day four of harvesting.
This is three five meals and two meal.
So that's total of 17 meal day four.
And day one I think I managed to get seven or six mil and yeah it's it's it it takes time but I think if you're patient then this um these are the results. So, if you are someone who's harvesting and you're getting discouraged, don't get discouraged and continue hand expressing. I decided also I'm not going to use that pump that I said I will sterilize. I will only use it after baby is born. So, let's see how much I manage to get tomorrow.
