In Starcraft 2 bot AI, multi-prong attacks using fast units like zerglings can overwhelm opponents by simultaneously attacking multiple locations, exploiting the opponent's inability to defend all fronts at once; this strategy is particularly effective when combined with strong economic management and unit production, as demonstrated by JimmyBot's successful use of split zergling forces to defeat PhantomBot's defensive roach army.

MASSIVE AI FLOOD! - JimmyBotZ vs PhantomBot - Starcraft 2 AI
Added:Alrighty, welcome back ladies and gentlemen. It is Laughing Games here.
I'm back with another Starcraft 2 one versus one bot AI cast.
We have got ourselves what should be a good one here today as it is a bot author recommended replay.
So, we have got Jimmybots.
Jimmybot Z or Jimmy Bots I think rolls off the tongue a little better. Uh, playing Zerg and it will be taking on a very good Zergbot, Phantom Bot, giving us a ZVZ bot versus bot match. Uh we've had some really good uh ZVZs in the past and so we'll see whether Jimmybot well there's already a pool going on so we already know Jimmybot is up to its sort of cheesy nature.
Although Phantom Bot is matching that with its own early pool. So ladies and gentlemen, before we get too far into this game, go ahead, click that like button if you haven't already. If we can get six likes for six lings, that would be amazing.
Leave a comment down below saying more bots if you want to see more of these bot matches. Subscribe to the channel if you haven't already. And if you want to get a member bonus video, you can check out that join button down below and uh get the member bonus video this week, which was Benbot versus Jimmybot or pardon me, Benbot versus Zozo. Oh man, clearly I am more tired than I thought.
Um I can't I imagine coming home and eating several cookies did not help with the crash, but here we are. And yes, now we have got a few zerglings pushing across the map for Jimmybots as they are chasing after the lings of Phantom. But we see Phantobots lings are doing a good job in occupying the units of Jimmybots. And this is just really nice. Looks like one of those two of those lings actually do get killed. But all things considered, it's like uh three lings have kept a significantly higher number while eight lings busy for a long period of time. This one's doing great. It is interesting how the pathing of Phantom Bot is uh kind of alternating like we see it's changing path and that was what allowed it to be caught. Um other bots that are kind of notorious for having their units retreat endlessly like Aerys I suppose. I'm not sure if it has that sort of stuttering. Um, so I imagine that's something you could program in a specific sort of situation to in that if you have one unit that's being chased by a lot, particularly a zergling, you could say just keep moving. Just basically go towards the path that is the straightest in a sense. Um, because if you do issue too many commands or change directions, it does have that consequence. Otherwise, who knows? Jimmybot's lings might have been able to be sort of trained forever. Now we do have Jimmybot going in for an attack this time uh more frontal as Phantombbot does have a significant army to respond and that attack is rebuffed quite easily. Phantombbot with a roach with a queen helping out. These lings of Jimmybot really do not stand a chance.
Looks like we've got an overlord on the other side of the map getting shot at.
Jimmybot does have a third base up, so an incredibly low eco, but it is able to uh yeah, it is able to squeeze out that third base. Both bots have got significant armies. Morlings for Jimmybot. Meanwhile, Phantom Bot is going into roaches. It also has this nice safety spine crawler in the natural, which I do like. But for now, Jimmybot is just kind of staying the course with the with the mass lings as it's got 20 out building another 14.
There are multiple queens being produced. So, one for each hatchery if I had to guess. So, it can keep up with the injects. And it really is just impressive how much bots can make on a low economy with the speed mining as uh yeah, like they're both just producing lots of units. They're even on workers, of course. Jimmybot does have that extra base, but there's no ling speed on these lings yet. And traditionally, lings are much worse than roaches in ZVZ bot matches just due to the roach burrow.
Lings are have never been great against roaches in ZVZ, in human matchups, but there's been situations where they could maybe work and they have worked. But in bot matches, once there's burrow for the roaches, the lings really fall off, I think. So, I'm a little bit concerned here for Jimmybot. Unless we get some sort of transition, some big counterattack, who knows what it will be. Phantom bot that was just playing it nice and passive. It does keep glimpsing the lings of Jimmybot as Jimmybot sort of ran forward.
Uh, and that did allow Phantom Bot to maybe decide to keep building units as it is still just staying on two bases.
There we go. A third is finally getting started, but burrow is about to finish for Phantom bot. Now we have got more lings for Jimmybot, believe it or not.
More lings, more overlords. It is a little bit supply blocked actually, I think. And then we have got a baneling nest going up for Jimmybot. So that could be a big pivot if it starts making bananelings.
But bananelings have had very mixed success in bot games. But I mean there is a good number of lings for Phantom Bot. The roaches will still remain a problem as it takes a lot of bane lings to kill them. Jimmybot does run up to the front once again. Phantombbot sees all those lings, but the lings do not go in. There is 64 presently to 33. Phantom bot though is just being nice and passive. And I honestly think that just sitting back is probably the best move for Phantom Bot. Jimmybot is building up to a worse army than Phantom Bot.
There's no melee attack for these. There is, of course, potentially the banelings, but uh roaches just scale so much better than than zerglings. Looks like we do have creep maybe being spread by Phantom. I think this one queen is trying to make it through the sea of roaches, but it's just unable to get there to drop that tumor. that could have big ramifications and uh it kind of highlights that just parking your units in one spot is usually a good solution and it can work but there are situations where you can block yourself as poor queen. She's really trying. They just cannot get there. Now we're getting banan speed on the way for Jimmybot.
Jimmybot is still just on one gas. So even if it made banelings, it would only be able to make like five or something.
Well, eight.
Um, but yeah, not a lot of gas. And so, while we're getting more lings, I'm just not seeing how this is going to work out for Jimmybot. By golly, it's going to try with 120 lings charging on in. And then they immediately turn around. So, Phantom Bot is uh once again just having enough supply to give Jimmybot pause.
So, the macro continues on. Both bots are adding in drones. They're not just hard stuck making units or anything like that, which is a nice line to walk as they're building up their economies. We are getting evo chambers on the way up for Jimmybot. There is still no roach horn, but now we're getting an extra gas and it does need that seeing as how it just research burrow. It probably wants to get upgrades with those evos which are very gas intensive. Now, we do see Jimmybot actually striking out. And look at this. It has actually split up its lings into two groups. So it will get a cancel on the one base of Phantom Bot.
So with these highly mobile lings, Jimmybot is making a play. There's Lings coming from the north as it goes for a ginormous surround. The question is, is Phantom Bot going to burrow these roaches? It is burrowing some of them, but the Ling count, I guess, was just so high. And the swarm really got on top of Phantom Bot. I think Phantom Bot's roaches were trying to retreat. I'm not sure how many or if any have died. Five have actually died. So, they are not successfully burrowing during this, but a significant number of them did stay alive. Jimmybot's lings then scatter.
Uh, some getting into the main, but the spines of Phantom Bot do help clean that up. We do have Ling still causing problems at the third. Phantombbot, of course, lost a lot of drones in that attack. So, it lost 20. A really nice sort of split on from Jimmybot.
Jimmybot's now going for a fifth hatchery, not on location, just a macro hatchery. It is adding in bananelings.
We're getting one one on the way. 26 more lings being produced three hatcheries at a time. And yeah, um, Phantom Bot is mixing in some of its own lings, which I won't say is a good thing because Jimmybot will just have way more lings. And then of course there's going to be the Baneings, which will be a threat to Phantom Bot's lings. I think PhantomBot really just needs to keep pumping on the roaches um, and just consolidate its forces a little bit. Supply-wise, Phantombbot is ahead, but of course, Roaches are much more supply dense than Zerglings. And so, Jimmybot is up to well, going up to 17 bananings, around 100 lings. Phantom bot is on three bases still. I mean, it had two bases get shut down during that or at least one was cancelled for sure.
I think there might have been a fifth going up too. Now, we do have Jimmybot trying for another attack. Phantom bot does pull its drones away. Banelings get pretty solid connections. They do not kill. I think four queens were very in the red. So, transfuse is already starting to heal them. So, unfortunately, not able to secure those kills. That was a rather expensive trade out by Jimmybot.
Um, Phantom Bot is still just on three bases, though. It's been unable to take a fourth. There's an overseer scouting out this burrowed ling location, which I definitely do enjoy. Phantom bot, though, elects to expand towards the bottom left, which is not good. That's going to have to be cancelled. And it is. And then we do have Jimmybot getting up two two upgrades. Phantom bot's got plus one missile attack on the way, which is good, but I honestly think against mass zerglings, it's probably one of the rare situations where you actually want Carropus as the blue zerg.
And look at this. Jimmybot just all of a sudden hitting multiple locations once again. The third base of Phantom in trouble. Drones are being pulled and some roaches are responding to the attack in the natural. The army of Phantom is coming home. It looks like the hatchery will be saved, but Jimmybot is on 84 drones to the 49 of Phantom.
Phantombbot still having its mining being disrupted. Phantom bots doing a pretty good job of responding to this aggression, but Jimmybot's just so quick with the lings on creep. It's just it moves out and then all of a sudden there are lings in multiple locations as we see it gearing up for another one of these split attacks. Looks like Phantom Bot might just be pulling the trigger for a counterattack. I'm not sure how well that would work. Base trading against mass lings. Lings are just so quickly, but maybe Phantom Bot can get some counter damage done and defend. I'm not too sure about that though. The lings are coming in towards the third.
There are some going towards the natural. Lots more drones are going to die. What's going on here? Looks like Roaches are dealing with Lings. Phantom Bot's army is vastly superior to that of Jimmybot. But I mean, you can always play bots. bots really struggle with the decision-m when it comes to commitment.
And so we see Phantom Bot pulling everything home when there's barely a home to pull things to. It lost its third base. It's down to 35 drones.
And yeah, I'm just really concerned.
Phantombbot, I think, needs to win this game sooner rather than later. It will have the plus two attack, but it's Jimmybot's going to have the two two upgrades. As Jimmybot's economy is growing, there can be more and more bananings. We've got Lings already hanging out here. Looks like Phantom Bot is moving out. If it can kill these lings and roach or lings and banelings for free, that would be nice. Uh, not many roaches are dying there. And so that's good for Phantom Bot, but really it does just need to push on in and try and win the game. Look at this though.
Counterattack by Jimmybot. Is Phantom Bot pulling anything home to defend?
Looks like the queens are the units chosen to respond. If the rest of the army of Phantom Bot pushes in and continues to push, I think that could have a lot of opportunity as Jimmybot is running drones away from this location, there's still trouble in the natural.
Just these lings are so quick and hard to track down. Does Phantom Bot keep pushing? That's the main question. It's got a higher supply than its opponent.
It's got 31 roaches, but it looks like it's trying to home its units as Lings are just leashing Phantom Bot once more.
Even with the spine crawlers in the main, these lings are getting cleaned up so slowly, it seems. It feels like an eternity when everything is on the line for Phantom Bot. Um, and it just really needs to attack, but it's not doing that. It's now responding to another red Zerg army on the left side. We'll see if it pushes in once again. The roaches.
Yeah, just a little bit of flip-flopping here now. Some roaches maybe getting surrounded. That one does not burrow. It gets killed off. And then we do have Jimmybot trying to push forward.
Phantombbot's roaches are absorbing so much damage. Of course, burrowing to regain HP and then just the passive HP regain, but there's no economy for Phantom Bot. Jimmybot is spending its money so darn quickly as it just continues to send more and more units at its enemy. Can Phantom Bot get the attack off? I think if it doesn't happen real soon that Phantom Bot will just wither on the vine. It's got 12 queens, 30 roaches, but just having a bot that sort of just has reckless abandon and charges in um is not an easy thing to program. We do have Phantom Bot striking forward. It gets a hatchery, but look at that. Jimmybot with the counterattack once more. A fatty queen blocking the ramp, so that may allow these links to be cleaned up a little quicker. So maybe Phantobot can resume the attack. Where are the roaches right now? They've gone all the way home. Supply-wise, the supply is falling for Phantom bot.
Roaches are getting killed off, whereas Jimmybot supply is continuing to grow. I think we've got a bit of a checkmate here. Even the queens are dying, not dropping transfuse quick enough. Um, so yeah, Phantom Bot is going to fall here, I think. Like I just Yeah, it's just shown us that it's not able to commit on in like that or as committed as it needs to be. And yeah, Jimmybot just showing us the power of multi-prong attacks.
Like it's it's nothing super duper complicated here, but it's very effective. Just some lings running in.
The repetition is what really steals it because every time it seems that Phantom has got things under wraps and it's ready to move out, Jimmybot is just right there with another army getting ready to charge on in. And yeah, look at this. And that's the beauty of the two-prongs attacks. Phantombbot totally intercepted the one and has been intercepting some of the attacks, but there's the one on the right has really been getting in effectively. Looks like we do have Phantom with some roaches, but not as many. It's down to 25 now, and Jimmybot can just spam lings for days with its over 4,000 mineral income.
And yeah, it's just uh waiting for the end at this point. So, ladies and gentlemen, if you've watched up until this point, click that like button as the banling magic eraser is connecting with those roaches. Uh, leave a comment down below saying more lings. I'm here.
I was criticizing the zergling tech. And apparently it can work. So, well done by Jimmybot.
Yeah. Uh, not sure if I already said subscribe, but yeah, click the bell icon, too. Get notified whenever I do a live stream. You can join the Discord too, which is where I announce things.
And uh yeah, I will see you guys uh next time. But what a great game this has been. Um well done by Jimmybot.
