Breaking: DK Shivakumar's Oath Likely On Monday | Siddaramaiah & DKS Head To Delhi For Cabinet TalksAdded:
That is D.K. Shivakumar, the incoming Chief Minister of Karnataka. The oath taking is likely in front of Vidhan Soudha as early as Sunday. And this also what we are learning is [music] that after Siddaramaiah, D.K. Shivakumar is also to leave for Delhi. D.K. Shivakumar is to [music] leave at 7:30 p.m. today for Delhi. But we were already getting reports that the governor actually reaches Bangalore Bengaluru in fact tonight >> [music] >> and that's when they will be meeting.
There were also reports that the meeting could happen tomorrow, but now we are told that after Siddaramaiah, who we are told has just left for the national capital, D.K. Shivakumar has will also be taking a flight to the national capital. Possibly this is for cabinet and births. Possibly this is to understand how the Congress government under D.K. Shivakumar will be looking, but I keep drawing our attention to this. Apart from two men who are coming and exchanging power, what does this story really mean for the people of Karnataka? That's what our focus really needs to be on and that's what we'll also try to find [music] out.
Apoorva, my colleague joins us for more details on this. Apoorva, what does this mean? He's also coming to the national capital, so is it safe to say that the central Congress leadership will be overseeing the new cabinet formation as well?
>> Well, in fact, you know, this is nothing but a message that both Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar want to say, which is that they are going by the books of the high command and that's why, you know, just minutes after Siddaramaiah will depart to Delhi wherein he will go ahead and meet with Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi wherein he will tell them personally, thank them for the kind of options that they have provided him and the kind of support that they had given. We're also now hearing from sources that likely DK Shivakumar is also expected to go to Delhi this evening around 7:30 is the time scheduled. So, it looks like both these leaders will go about and you know uh give their thanks to the high command for the kind of amicable uh you know transmission of power that is being shifted from one hugely tall leader to another here in Karnataka. Remember, this these two are you know if there isn't any synergy between them, it is complete chaos in Karnataka. Thankfully enough, both of them have maintained decorum. Both of them have ensured that even though their MLAs are voicing out, even though there is some kind of uh you know uh off-site uh protests that are going on demanding for Siddaramaiah to not resign, whereas demanding for DK to finally be named as a chief minister, we are seeing that these two leaders are maintaining their crew at an arm's length. They are telling them, "Listen, hold your peace and we will wait." And that's what you can also see here. In just a short while from now, you can also see uh DK Shivakumar who will be uh leaving to Delhi and Siddaramaiah who is also leaving to Delhi this evening. Both of them likely to go ahead and meet with the high command there. Remember, it's uh DK Shivakumar has been waiting waiting because it was the high command's decision there uh which had uh you know made him uh wait all this long even though there were some kind of a tussle, some kind of uh you know a struggle that had been there between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar just a couple of months back.
There was yet another breakfast meet that we had seen wherein both of them had come out a very smiling, very happily saying, "All is well." But, we did know and we did hear of the strains that had took place before the high command had intervened.
And now after this short meeting in Delhi just a couple of days back wherein Siddaramaiah had said what he had to say and DK Shivakumar awaiting patiently on the promise that was made to him. You know, DK Shivakumar has been one of the close, you know, people who has been in the likes of Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi as well. The only >> All right, let me put it there for the moment. At the moment, the news for our viewers is this. Siddaramaiah has resigned. DK Shivakumar is likely to take oath on Sunday. At the moment, both leaders expected to come to the national capital, meet with the leadership, and perhaps the cabinet formation will happen under their guidance as well, or perhaps truce making as well. At the end of the day, it is a new chief minister of the [music] same government. Think of it like a new boss in the same organization that you work for. But until leaderships change, matter. It matters to the people. But what will it really bring about for the people of Karnataka? They have host of issues.
Their capital, Bengaluru, also has a host of issues. So, let's see if under this new leadership, things change for the people of Karnataka.
