A Dream On The Wall | Exhibiting Abstract Pieces at Rotunda Gallery

[00:00:21]I want you guys to use me as a living testimony to that. If you're an aspiring artist who just think that they are not good enough, who are struggling to put themselves out there or just don't have the confidence in themselves, I could tell you that it's possible. Just don't give up. Keep at it. Even if it is you might have to lose a little bit bit of sleep at night, I could tell you that it's extremely worth it. These eyebrows may not be worth it though. But everything else is so worth it. I can't thank anybody but God because that is none of my doing. I thank him for the gift that he has blessed me with. And I am going to use this gift to the best of my abilities to help others. I had two of pie of the pieces that was accepted and it's on my Instagram. Whispers of fire and collision part one. And the crazy thing about that is those were the two pieces that I worked on at the beginning when I first started back my art journey. Whispers of fire was the first ever upshot piece that I've ever done. Let's see how it goes.

[00:01:39]So, we have finally arrived at the rotunda gallery at the red house. So, let's head inside.

[00:01:46]As soon as I walked through the doors of the gallery, I couldn't help but admire the beautiful space. The paintings covered the walls, but what immediately caught my attention was this piece right here. It's made of fused glass, and I couldn't help but think about the process behind making something like this.

[00:02:07]As I looked around, I felt like I was no longer alone. Seeing the work of the different artists, abstract work felt really comforting.

[00:02:18]There was a time when creating abstract felt very lonely because it's such a misunderstood art form and some people don't even consider it real art because it's not realistic and it can't be figured out right away.

[00:02:34]But I think that's what makes abstract art so beautiful.

[00:02:40]It's not meant to be understood instantly. It's meant to sit with you.

[00:02:44]It's meant to linger on your heart and act like a mirror.

[00:02:50]And then there they were, my paintings.

[00:02:54]I was internally screaming at this point, but I had my to try my best to keep my composure. But seeing my work hung in a gallery space felt so surreal because these were the moments I dreamt of for so long. These were the very first abstract paintings that I would have ever created. When I made them, I had absolutely no intentions of sharing them with anyone because they were so personal and deeply intimate to me. But I've come to realize that art is meant to be shared. Here is another beautiful piece. To me, it looks like a rose that was left behind and burned after heartbreak. Only the ashes remain, but the mark is still there.

[00:03:45]And this one, from a distance, it looked like a scorpion, but the closer I looked, the more it transformed into something opening up, almost as if it's about to swallow something whole. And the details on this was absolutely incredible.

[00:04:06]Now with this piece, the feeling came almost immediately. It looks like something is reaching, trying so desperately to grasp beyond its fingertips, but not quite reaching or getting there.

[00:04:23]One thing I would do is not label these paintings or try to put them in a box because abstract art is meant to invite you to reflect, to ponder, and maybe even uncover emotions you've been bearing for a long time.

[00:04:44]It's a place where your mind can fully or finally become quiet because these types of work asks you to feel.

[00:04:57]It's quite intimate and that is so beautiful because it allows you to experience things within yourself and to feel and to see and to let the paintings speak to you in their own way.
