Despite Board of Regents Ban, ASU Admin Says: “We Are DEI”

[00:00:00]We are in I just want to like like equity pedagogy to be a focus and like equity and inclusion those things that like I just don't want to Yeah, [music] that's part of it and I I didn't want I didn't want to follow this kind of program and money into a program that wasn't that way. You know what I mean?

[00:00:14]Yeah, we are in the Arizona State University has been dealing with federal [music] bans on DEI, Board of Regents bans on DEI, even a lawsuit related to it. Yet our [music] investigators met with administrator after administrator who bragged to us about continuing to push [music] these radical ideas even when they're against the law. Coming from California especially especially Berkeley and kind of Eastern like a little bit more of a progressive environment and I just didn't know if that was kind of the case coming here.

[00:00:46]I mean I know gender studies is pretty pre-progressive but I'm used to progressive so it's a little different.

[00:00:52]Yeah, so our program was that way.

[00:00:57]We love everyone and everything. Yeah.

[00:00:59]Um there are people on campus and there are people in the area and Arizona as a whole that are not to be honest.

[00:01:12]We do have a good community. There are lots of other progressive communities um around around Phoenix area. Okay. So you can look up like different clubs at ASU or um like activity groups or something.

[00:01:30]Some of our active like um like interests that you find around here. Yeah. Our students here are really friendly and we're like figuring out little things together. Okay. So you'll definitely have a community here so um at least you know, to start and then you'll make friends and things like that but yeah. Okay, good cuz I kind of have this area type that I really shouldn't in Arizona but I've only ever like I'm I'm used to my grandma's friends, so it's like the older generation that are maybe a little not as open-minded, so I just didn't want to come to a campus that didn't have that culture and a program specifically that didn't have that culture. Yeah.

[00:02:10]Um we have this culture. A different culture, yeah. Yeah.

[00:02:15]I just want to like like equity pedagogy to be a focus and like equity and inclusion those things I'm like I just don't like it. Yeah, it's part of it. But I I didn't want I didn't want to fall behind after I put money into a program that wasn't that way. You know what I mean? Yeah, we are doing that.

[00:02:31]Okay, that's what I was doing and I did Okay.

[00:02:35]What about LGBT? I okay. I I was specifically looking at like communication and then like anti-racism communication and I didn't know if I had I didn't see anything specific to that, but I don't know if you can speak to that necessarily. I I just don't know what you guys do.

[00:02:51]Yeah, we do have a number of classes on racial Our investigators, [music] they don't know these people for a long period of time. They meet them briefly and immediately these folks brag about ignoring federal executive orders, ignoring Board of Regents rules, how they put [music] their ideology before everything else.
