Friday PM Forecast: Rain overnight, cool & cloudy SaturdayAdded:
We started out in the 40s early this morning, which is certainly chilly, but not as cool as it's been the past several mornings. Average low is 51. So, we were below that even for those who are in the upper 40s. And then today, so far, we have made it into the 70s for most spots. That's a 30° temperature turnaround for places like Grand Rapids.
That's pretty impressive. 70 degrees right now in Grand Rapids with increasing clouds. The lake shore still looks to be fairly sunny. Temperatures for most of us in the 70s with a few hold outs in the 60s. But it is breezy out there for sure with our wind coming in from the east pushing all of that water offshore. So even though it's a gusty wind at 10 to 15 miles an hour with gusts as high as 30, it's not causing a lot of chop on the lake right now because of that wind direction.
Clouds right now are few and far between, although they're thin clouds, but you can see them getting thicker farther to the south, and that is ahead of our next low pressure system that will be lifting in. The parent low is back in the Ohio Valley. This will make a trek through Indiana and Ohio and clip us enough that we'll end up getting some of those showers after midnight.
Probably going to be more like 2 am or so. So, the remainder of today, we'll see increasing clouds and breezy conditions, but otherwise, pretty nice in terms of temperatures. even through 800 PM, probably in the 60s. As we head through the night, we'll end up in the upper 50s overnight and long around 3 or 4 a.m. is when most of us will start to see those showers move in. And temperatures will stay fairly warm overnight compared to what we woke up to. Couple of heavier downpours towards 94 are definitely possible between 3 and 5:00 a.m., but the heaviest rain overall will stay onto the east side of the state. And I think afternoon we'll all be starting to clear out, if not before.
temperatures at that point in the upper 50s and low 60s. Likely staying cloudy through the remainder of the afternoon, even as we continue to stay dry. Maybe a little bit of late day sunshine along the lake shore, but it does look like it's going to be pretty solidly cloudy tomorrow once we kick those showers out.
We may also have a few more showers coming in Sunday morning. These should be out of here pretty quickly, very isolated. And then through the day on Sunday, we'll end up in the 70s. Little cooler along the lake shore in the 60s.
So you may want to bring a jacket. Even though it will be just about fully sunny. Those temperatures will feel cooler. Plus it will still be breezy.
Rain totals will be least along the lake shore about a tenth to a quarter inch.
There could be some spots like Kalamazoo, Cold Water, and Battle Creek that get upwards of half an inch of rain. But that is about it for rain for the week. It's going to be a pretty quiet week. And considering the second half of the day tomorrow will be dry, not too shabby overall. Sunday and Monday will be the better days to be out boating with wave heights 0 to 1 ft.
Water temperatures are still really cold though. But as we get into Monday, if you're going to be inland, temperatures are going to be in the low to mid 80s. A little cooler along the lake shore, but Memorial Day, Monday, will be the best day to be outside. If you have any days off next week or just want to spend some time outside, we're staying in the 70s and 80s with sunshine and it will be a little humid.
