Making the CUT : The biggest one YET

[00:00:00]We're on to something big. Something that uh I've been thinking about for a long time. We're going to go inside. I'm going to get nervous today. It's how it's going to be.

[00:00:13]This area here is going to be dramatically changed pretty soon. I got to figure stuff out first and measure things out and get depths ready and check my check my bad self [music] three or four times.

[00:02:06]>> Right now, I'm discussing with myself how to fit this motor mount. The truth is, when the boat was originally welded, it will be under tension through the distortion of the welding on the aluminium. So, when I cut a beam out, it might just spring into all sorts of strange situations. So, I don't want to do that. So, I'm trying to figure out how to fit the motor mount into a position without releasing all that pent-up tension. Okay. So, I need to take this center line on that.

[00:04:49]So, this is the lump that I've been working on for the last few days. It's massive. This is what's going to be the um the sail drive mount. Won't be bouncing around there. So, I need to weld this in. Did a few test welds the other day and I'm pretty confident we know what we're doing now. So, that's a good thing. But right now, I got to go and cut out the beams in the boat to make this fit. So, we got so many things going on here at the moment. Launch has just been postponed.

[00:05:14]Going to get a new launch date. That's how it is. Because there's not enough water in the rivers, it just makes no sense to launch. So, bit of a shame, but we got to move on and crack on with that. Let's not drag on that. So, loads of things going on at the moment.

[00:05:29]He's been going wild. Have a look at this. The man is absolutely smashing this job. We're looking at getting the the boat painted pretty soon. And we're going at it with a wire wheel. I say we because of my dodgy shoulder and neck through my neck injury. I struggle with this kind of stuff. and Yama just said he wants to do it for me, which is like what a legend. So, the job he's done is just beautiful. So, hitting it with a wire wheel to take off the um basically all the oxidization likes and then we'll get that all off completely and then we'll come back, give it a quick sand, and then paint directly over the top. It's looking just fantastic and this lad's been at it in the midday heat and just knocking on through it class.

[00:08:31]It's been a mega day. We've had so much going on. So good what Y has been up to under here, man. He's done such such a nice job. The boat's going to look fab. It's literally just taking the oxidization off. It's not taking any thickness out the material. Absolutely brilliant. I've been cracking on inside, but it's so much to get on with. But aside from that, we just have loads of things we're getting on with dealing with like brands that we're working with, sponsors, that kind of stuff to try and get this boat to the Arctic.

[00:08:58]It's a mega project and so much going on behind the scenes, but pleased to get home. Pleased to be getting where we're going. We're looking towards a new launch day, which is really, really exciting. Although, I'm not sure what's going to happen. We need some water in the uh in the canals for sure. We really do. But I'm still pushing to get out to South Ambos. So, plan is to continue the vlog every day until we get up to the Arctic and then turn round and continue every day till we get to the Antarctic.
