This forecast is a polished but redundant exercise in local media’s habit of dramatizing routine atmospheric shifts for a suburban audience. It prioritizes the comfort of a familiar face over any depth beyond what a basic smartphone app provides.

Metro Detroit Weather Forecast, May 24, 2026 -- 8:15 AM UpdateAdded:
My concern though is that sometimes, Brian Sherman, flowers mean allergies.
>> Yeah, a lot of us allergy sufferers, myself included, keeping an eye on our pollen forecast right now. While we've had a little bit of a break the last few days, our pollen forecast back into the medium-high range today into early next week before going back into the high range by Wednesday. Our primary pollens in the atmosphere, oak, mulberry, and birch. So, maybe a little more time inside and be sure to take that allergy medication if you're going to be spending any prolonged period outside over the next couple days. Exact track 40 radar clean sweep after a very soggy day working throughout the start of the weekend. But, hold onto the umbrella. We will need it though as we head into the afternoon. Tower cam from Windsor looking across the river into downtown Detroit. Plenty of cloud cover and chilly temperatures as you're waking up early this morning. Starting off at 58 here in Detroit, 57 over in Ann Arbor, 54 this morning in Howell, and a cooler 52 starting off up in Flint. But, with all the moisture around, dense fog has been a little bit of an issue this morning as well. Visibility down to 5 mi in Mount Clemens, 6 mi at Metro Airport, and also 6 mi working down into Adrian.
So, remember, use your low beams, give yourself a few extra minutes as you head out the door and encounter some of that patchy dense fog. There's our area of low pressure working right through the region overnight last night into early this morning. And I'm also tracking a line of thunderstorms right around Chicago as you're waking up this morning. A ground stop remains in effect until 9:00 a.m. Eastern for Chicago O'Hare International Airport. And that line of thunderstorms will move off to the east and we'll watch our own thunderstorm chances roll in as we head into this afternoon as well. Clouds and radar forecast shows we're dry until lunchtime. And by 1:00 to 1:30 this afternoon, we start watching a line of thunderstorms moving into our western communities. And that line of thunderstorms rolls right into the metro between 3:00 to 4:00 this afternoon before pulling off to the east and we hold on to a few shower or thunderstorm chances till about 7:00 to 8:00 tonight.
Then we dry things out and clear things up overnight tonight and to early on Monday morning. It'll be a beautiful start to the week for Memorial Day. Lots of sunshine, a little high cloud cover, and temperatures continue to warm up as well. Right around where we should be for this time in late May, low 70s this afternoon. Then we warm into the 80s starting tomorrow through at least the middle portions of next week. And then down to right around 80° by the time we get to next Thursday. So, for today, 50s out the door early this morning, upper 60s, near 70 by lunchtime, on our way into the low 70s with some showers and thunderstorms as we head into this afternoon. A much different picture heading into our Memorial Day on Monday.
I'm expecting lots of sunshine, upper 50s to near 60 out the door in the morning, into the 70s by lunchtime, on our way into the low 80s by the time we get to tomorrow afternoon. Low to mid-80s with a little more cloud cover on Tuesday before I do bring in rain chances by Wednesday. Then we dry things out with lots of sunshine and we cool things down a bit. We're back into the mid-70s through Friday and into the first half of next weekend on Saturday.
