Political redistricting can be used to systematically reduce minority representation in government, as demonstrated by Republican-led efforts in states like Louisiana, South Carolina, and Tennessee to eliminate Black congressional representation despite significant Black populations, with Justice Kagan noting this would cause the largest reduction in minority representation since Reconstruction.

Historic Democrat House Seat Eliminated - Republicans Get Massive WinAdded:
Hey guys and welcome to Trace Tamement.
I'm Trace and in today's video some big changes are happening. And when I say that some are going to argue about this, they are going to argue about this because no matter what happened within President Trump and his administration, they find something to argue about. In my opinion, the reason being is because they love chaos. Like they they just feed off of that negative energy. Like I get on social media and I see some people like they got big followings post some of the most ridiculous things. Like when I tell you guys the most ridiculous things I mean the absolute most ridiculous things. And in my opinion I feel like they were just suffering from the TDS because with the previous administration these same individuals they weren't speaking out. They weren't speaking out as loudly you know saying oh this is happening that's happening.
They shouldn't be doing this. This shouldn't be doing that. And the only reason why that they're speaking out is because it fits their political narrative. But look at that. Current possible. You know what that means? You know what that means? But anyways, just do yourself a favor and take a listen to this.
After the Civil War, I mean, look at the state of Louisiana there. A third of the population of Louisiana is black.
Louisiana's Republican governor cancelled congressional elections that are already underway in that state to rush through new maps that will presumably make sure that even though onethird of the population of that state is black, there will be no black representation in Congress for Louisiana at all.
>> Wow.
>> South Carolina, a quarter of the population is black. They have one majority minority district represented by an African-American Democrat, Jim Klyurn. They are going to try to get rid of that one black district. So that South Carolina is all white, all Republican in representation, while a quarter of the people who live in that state are black.
In Tennessee, one in six residents is black. Republicans now want to make sure all nine congressional seats in Tennessee are white.
>> Listen, at the end of the day, I see how things are being said. I just want to say this. I have friends of all different races. friends of all different race. And to me, I don't see, you know, like I don't see race anymore, you know? I see everyone as humans. He's human. I'm human. We have different beliefs. We grew up differently. I don't see the race anymore. You know, I I get where somebody says, "Well, this is what happened back then and this is different and this is this and this is that, but times have changed drastically and the way that things are going now is just unbelievable in my opinion. Um, I wish that everyone would understand that there is only one race that is the human race that we are all humans. That's my brother, that's my sister, that's my friend, that's my neighbor. When are things going to be that way?
It's crazy.
>> All nine of them, they want it to be nine nine nine to nothing, white and Republican when one in six people in that state is black.
>> And her descent from the majority ruling, Justice Helena Kagan said it will likely cause the largest reduction to minority representation since the end of reconstruction. She probably didn't need to use the word likely there.
The war on black Americans that is being waged by this president and this Republican party is one of the only things they have put their mind to in this past year that they've actually done pretty well at a comprehensive attack on black public officials and black public power.
>> I just got to say this. Some changes need to happen where things are being taken care of the right way. Not a race thing. Not a white or black or any other race thing. Things need to be taken care of the right way. Just common sense, please. Just make it common sense.
That's it. You know, like what people voted for. Anyways, just let me know what you guys think about today's video in the comment section. Make sure you leave this video a big thumbs up and I'll catch you guys on the next one.
Take care.
