The deployment of the second armored Brigade Combat Team from the first Cavalry Division to Poland was canceled, but Poland's Minister of National Defense reassured that this does not indicate a reduction in American military presence, as the number of troops will not change and may even increase. This reorganization is part of a broader process where the type of troops and their deployment locations in Europe may change, but the US contingent in Poland remains unaffected. The situation reflects broader geopolitical dynamics where military deployments are influenced by strategic considerations, financial constraints, and inter-allied relationships, with Poland's Prime Minister Tusk expressing concerns about being used to undermine European solidarity while other coalition members support increased American military presence.

American Troop Rotations In Poland: Are Polish-American Relations Deteriorating?Added:
Since this morning, news reported by the American media has been circulating in Poland that the deployment of Poland of the second armored Brigade Combat Team from the first Cavalry Division, which has been stationed in Germany until now, has been canceled, meaning that over 4,000 soldiers along with their equipment. Interestingly, part of these American forces are reportedly already in Poland and the equipment is said to be on its way according to the redeployment plan. Poland's Minister of National Defense gave reassurances that this does not indicate any reduction of the American military presence in Poland. The number of troops will not change and may even increase, but only about reducing the forces stationed in Germany. On Wednesday, American media reported on the alleged suspension of the rotation of American troops in Europe, including 4,000 soldiers to Poland. Late last night, the Minister of National Defense discusses with President Karol Nawrocki. This morning, the Minister of National Defense reassured the Polish public I would like to assure everyone who is concerned that the number of US troops in Poland is not decreasing. We are working to increase both the size and operational capabilities of the US military stationed in Poland. This concerns the alleged cancellation by the US Army of the deployment to Poland of the second armored Brigade Combat Team from the first Cavalry Division and the military equipment.
These changes may affect the type of troops and their deployment locations in Europe, but these changes do not involve reduction in the US contingent in Poland. The reorganization is a broader process. President Trump announced the withdrawal of approximately 5,000 troops from Germany, not from Poland. For now, the Pentagon has not taken an official position on the matter, but it is known that additional US military equipment arrived in Poland a few days ago. It cannot be ruled out that the US will redeploy troops from Germany to Poland.
The government must actively seek this.
After all, Our president is pushing for this new strategy with Donald Trump to increase the presence. Meanwhile, it turns out that the government is pleased with this, though it is not yet confirmed that there will be no reduction in the presence. The scale of ambition is also evident here. It appears that the entire situation may have revolved around financial issues within the US military related to funding operations in Iran. This should not affect the American presence in Poland. The brigade commanded from Poland remains un changed. There are currently two rotating US armored brigades in Europe. The Americans are disbanding one of them largely because their involvement in the Middle East has left them unable to keep up with logistics. The rotation of one brigade involved a total of four brigades. One is on mission, one is in rotation, one is training, and one rebuilding combat capabilities. According to General Gromadzinski, former commander of Eurocorps, the matter will not affect the number of American soldiers stationed in Poland. It's not that out of 10,000 American soldiers 4,000 will be withdrawn. The point is that the second armored brigade combat team, Blackjack Brigade, which was supposed to come to Poland for 9 months, will stay in the US. But the 4,000 American soldiers who are already in our country will remain here for those 9 months longer. But there is a problem. Polish Prime Minister Tusk's actions sees Berlin as his traditional primary ally.
As such, he has no apparent desire to increase the American military presence in Poland. It seems that at least part of Tusk's coalition shares the Prime Minister's view. If they want to withdraw their forces from Europe, they'll simply do so. And we will be completely helpless.
I fear that no European country will be able to prevent it. Let's hope we manage to keep the American forces that are supposed to be stationed in Poland. That is, those 10,000 soldiers. Because I think even that will be in question.
Unfortunately, US policy has become unpredictable today, and it's unclear what they will do. In the context of US troops, which according to President Trump's announcements are to be withdrawn from Germany and could be transferred to Poland, Donald Tusk recently said.
I don't think we as a country should be poaching our allied soldiers like that.
I don't know if you understand what I mean. I will not allow Poland to be used in any way to undermine solidarity or cooperation at the European level.
Sometimes my political opponents or people who don't really understand geopolitics think I should be more pro-American. You can't be more pro-American than I am and I have always been.
The presence of US troops in Poland is significant for all of Europe, not just our country, and it must be viewed from that perspective, not merely through the lens of our friendship with Germany. The well-being of German politicians is not the most important factor in the face of a threat to the security of the entire continent. Interestingly, it seems that not everyone in the Tusk's coalition shares the prime minister's view, at least officially.
Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz says that he will accept any number of American soldiers, including the additional ones who may potentially come to us from Germany. And I think that this is the position not only of the Polish government, but of every Polish politician who thinks rationally about the security and defense of our country.
During the Law and Justice Party's government, we ensured that 10,000 American soldiers are currently stationed on Polish soil, and this is in our interest. However, if such a withdrawal were to occur, full responsibility for it would fall on Donald Tusk's government and specifically on the policy pursued by the prime minister himself, who for many years now has essentially been leading a sort of anti-American rebellion in Europe. Were it not for the efforts of President Karolan Wróblewski, who has been striving since the beginning of his term to maintain Warsaw's strategic alliance with Washington, the situation regarding the US military presence might look very different.
A permanent US military base in Poland is what President Karolan Wróblewski secured on September the 1st at the White House last year. Permanent infrastructure, a permanent divisional headquarters, permanent equipment, permanent warehouses, a permanent presence in every respect. This will change the security landscape of the Republic of Poland.
We will build a truly formidable block here on the eastern flank. Americans know this perfectly well. The NATO Secretary General, Mr. Rota, fully supports these solutions. And they know what kind of government we have in Poland. I understand it. The US administration is aware of the statements made by Donald Tusk, the minister. We can only hope that Donald Tusk will refrain from frivolously antagonizing the United States and give way to President Karolina Wróblewski who has excellent relations with President Donald Trump. And that this will result in an increase in the American contingent in Poland.
Exactly 3 weeks ago in the village of Polana near Sanok in Poland's Bieszczady Mountains, a bear killed a woman who was out collecting antlers. At the time, residents of the Bieszczady Mountains were convinced that lessons would be learned from this tragedy. All the more so because more and more such recordings are surfacing. Bears are approaching buildings such as here in Wołkowya near Solina, posing an ever greater danger to residents.
Normally, such brazen bears are culled.
And it was with precisely this appeal that local government officials from the Bieszczady Mountains came to the parliament.
15 years ago, there were 20 bears.
Today, there are 400. The only solution is to reduce the population because a 20-fold increase in the population means the danger has increased 20-fold. Local officials emphasized that it is not local governments, but the national government that has the authority to take such actions. And the current bear monitoring and deterrence programs are not yielding any positive results.
The result is that the number of critical incidents is increasing. These animals do not react at all to the scaring system described in various administrative decisions. In response, local officials from the Bieszczady Mountains were told by members of parliament that bears remain under strict protection.
These animals play a very important role in the ecosystem, and the collapse of the ecosystem will have serious consequences not only for the forest, but also for us who use the forest. It is humans who, through development and infrastructure, are encroaching on a space that has been inhabited by wild animals for thousands of years. It is we who are taking away the homes of non-human species, not the other way around. Member of parliament Kamila Gasiuk-Pichowicz even made an even more striking remark when she wrote on X that all one needs to do to keep bears out is close one's gate.
In light of the increasingly difficult situation in Podkarpacie, I request answers to the following questions. Why does the Ministry of Climate and Environment not allow the culling of bears in Podkarpacie? What methods does the Ministry of Climate and Environment intend to use to resolve the problem of bears in areas inhabited by humans?
The Ministry did not answer these questions. All that is known is that the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Rzeszów plans to capture 18 bears and place them under GPS monitoring.
We have these bears on camera, and what good does that do? We have the example from Wołkowija. A bear was near the church in the morning, monitored, first alone, and a moment later it comes there with cubs to the church where a First Communion ceremony is taking place. This is a deliberate endangerment of people's health and lives.
We don't take decisive action, another person, or maybe 20 or 30 people will die so that the bears can live freely.
It appears the Bieszczady Mountains will receive no help from the government.
As a country, we're afraid to make a decision because a front defending the bears immediately emerges, from environmental activists to celebrities to even left-wing politicians.
Meanwhile, fear of bears is causing more and more people to cancel or postpone their vacations in the Bieszczady Mountains. This has a negative effect on the local economy.
A ceremonial motorcade down Chang'an Avenue, a welcoming ceremony, and the national anthems of both countries.
Beijing spared no expense when it came to protocol or symbolism. Donald Trump stepped out of the limousine and shook hands with Xi Jinping in front of the Great Hall of the People. Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and Jensen Huang, leading figures in American business, were already waiting at the entrance. The talks lasted over 2 hours. Xi, however, began with a statement that would set the tone for the entire summit.
The shared interest of China and the United States outweigh our differences, and the success of each country presents an opportunity for the other. Stable Sino-American relations benefit the entire world. When we cooperate, both sides gain. When we confront each other, both sides suffer. We should be partners, not adversaries.
President Trump responded in his usual style, warmly and personally, but he did not break from the rhythm set by Xi. If one were to believe only the courtesy exchanged, it looked like a meeting of old friends. You and I have known each other now for a long time. In fact, the longest relationship of our two countries that any president and president has had. And uh it's to me an honor.
We've had a fantastic relationship.
We've gotten along. When there were difficulties, we worked it out.
I would call you, and you would call me.
And whenever we had a problem, people don't know, whenever we had a problem, we worked it out very quickly.
And we're going to have a fantastic future together.
After the meeting, Trump and Xi went together to the Temple of Heaven, one of the most recognizable structures in China, a place where Chinese emperors offered sacrifices to heaven. In the evening, a state dinner was held at the Great Hall of the People. Seated at the table with the heads of major American companies, ministers, and generals.
Before she raised a toast, the presidents agreed to allow the sale of Nvidia chips to Chinese tech giants.
Wall Street reacted immediately with sharp gains. Rarely has so much private capital been seated at a single diplomatic table.
Today I had an in-depth exchange of views with President Trump on China-US relations and the international and regional situation. We agreed that China-US relations are the most important bilateral relationship in the world today. They can only be managed well and must not be ruined. When the two countries cooperate, both sides benefit.
Donald Trump did not remain silent and responded with an invitation.
The spot of commerce and respect that stretches back 250 years is the foundation for a future that benefits both of our nations.
The American and Chinese people share much in common. We value hard work. We value courage and achievement. We love our families and we love our countries.
Together we have the chance to draw on these values to create a future of greater prosperity, cooperation, and happiness, and peace for our children. We love our children. Thank you again, President Xi, for this beautiful welcome. And tonight it is my honor to extend an invitation to you and Madam Peng to visit us at the White House this September 24th.
A festive atmosphere, smiles, toasts, but one topic stood out above the diplomatic tone of the entire day, Taiwan. A spokesperson for the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed Xi's words after the meeting, the harshest of the entire day.
President Xi Jinping pointed out that the Taiwan issue is the most important issue in Sino-American relations. If it is properly resolved, bilateral relations will enjoy overall stability.
Otherwise, the two countries will face clashes and even conflicts, which will put the entire world in grave danger.
Taiwan's independence and peace in the Taiwan Strait are as incompatible as fire and water. The US side must treat the Taiwan issue with the utmost caution. The US statement following the meeting contained no mention of Taiwan.
Until the delegation leaves China, it is difficult to expect any official comment. There is no shortage of such comments in Taipei, which is watching the US president's visit to Beijing with fear.
We would like to emphasize that although Xi Jinping said that Taiwan's independence is the greatest threat to peace in the Taiwan Strait, in Taiwan, the main goal of society is to maintain the existing status quo of the Republic of China. This is the broadest consensus among Taiwanese. The greatest threat to peace in the Strait lies in the intentions of the Chinese Communist Party, which aim to undermine this status quo. The friendly atmosphere is mainly a facade. On the one hand, there is hard business and economic negotiations. On the other, real geopolitics. It is almost certain that during this summit, both sides will put forward proposals for a new world order.
>> [music] >> Perhaps answers will emerge in Washington in September.
One thing is certain. Each side is laying their cards on [music] the table so that the other can see what they have. There is no weaker player here.
These are two players who know exactly what the other [music] is capable of.
