This investigative video examines homeless shelter operations in Merritt, BC, revealing concerns about the $1.9 million annual operating cost for a 40-bed shelter, reports of busloads of homeless individuals being relocated from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, and questions about whether these relocations are connected to FIFA 2026 preparations, highlighting broader issues of housing policy, resource allocation, and community impact in British Columbia.

Are DTES Residents Being Moved To Merritt? | My InvestigationAdded:
just talked to some people. They're smoking some fetty right there. And uh they said, "Yeah, there was about a dozen people that came in. Uh they came into the shelter. They stayed here for a moment and then once the people realized they were from another city, uh they were asked to leave and they had to leave. So I guess they're now on the street or off to the next city. Wow. Hey friends. So this video is just about merit. It's a $1.9 million a year uh 40 unit 40 bed shelter. Um there's there's supposedly been bus loads of people. I haven't seen bus loads. I haven't seen anyone, but I've talked to dozens of people across BC. Merritt is one of the bigger places that have uh I have had a lot of conversations with people. You're going to hear from two people in this interview um that are on the street homeless. One of the person's been in Merit for a long time. and the other one is a new transplant from Vancouver.
You're going to hear his story. We're going to break down uh the numbers a bit about the shelter and how much it cost to operate per year. Again, blown away.
It's called the Nights End. I'm not sure if it's any relative relation to the Knights End in Prince George uh which was bought for triple the amount of money that was worth by some society.
Again, that's Prince George. It's another going to be another dystopian video. um all these griffs, all these um places have all these people that have no idea about addiction. What they may have some idea, but the majority of the executive directors and stuff, I mean, I can't even pronounce their names. Um all the workers that seem to be not from Canada that are working caring for all of the Canadian individuals suffering.
Uh anyways, let's just get into this.
Enough of me talking. God bless Canada.
God bless British Columbia and God bless you and thanks for watching. So here are the numbers here that are attached to this space. 1.9 million per year to operate this shelter which is 40 beds.
