[00:00:08]You know, the citizenship of the people of northern Kenya was contested.

[00:00:16]They are legitimacy to identification documents provided for by the constitution were put in question.

[00:00:30]And there was discrimination.

[00:00:33]And there was application, selective application of standards.

[00:00:42]Right here in Wajir in 2025, I signed a presidential proclamation to abolish that discrimination.

[00:00:57]Today, every citizen of Kenya goes through the same process.

[00:01:06]And I said it today, we are not reckless.

[00:01:14]We are doing the right thing. And I said, justice and security go hand in hand.

[00:01:23]We have to secure our country by making sure that only Kenyans get identification documents as Kenyans. And that applies to everybody.

[00:01:35]It applies to the kids in Eldoret, in Kisumu, in Kiambu, in Mombasa, in Machakos, everywhere.

[00:01:43]What we have removed is the discrimination that different standards are applied to different citizens on the basis of their ethnicity and on the basis of the region they come from.

[00:02:01]So, I'm very proud that today was a turning point.
