Candidate seeks to void results of Knox County Sheriff election over corruption case

[00:00:00]Now learning Mike Davis is challenging the results of the race for Knox County Sheriff after two of the candidates were indicted. We've been telling you how Brent Gibson won the Republican primary in a race with no Republican challenger.

[00:00:12]Uh those results were certified this morning. Gibson beat Davis along with former Knox County Sheriff J.J. Jones and David Amburn. Jones and Amburn were among the 11 current and past Knox County Sheriff's Office employees who were recently indicted. This in connection with a conspiracy case involving the use of a department credit card and cash seized during a a drug investigations on personal expenses over an 8-year period.

[00:00:36]>> As part of his challenge, Davis says Jones and Amburn received a combined 42% of the vote. Davis believes some of those votes are rightfully his. When we asked the Knox County Election Commission about Davis's challenge, it stressed the election results have already been certified and that it considers Davis's challenge to be Republican Party business since this all stems from the Republican primary. Now Jones says he will fight the charges in court and in the last hour Amburn's attorney said his client will plead not guilty.
