States have the sovereign right to protect their population from threats, including terrorist organizations that violate national airspace, as demonstrated by Cuba's 1996 response to the 'Brothers to the Rescue' incident where three planes violated Cuban airspace and were destroyed after 16 diplomatic complaints to the US went unanswered.

Hernandez: At least 16 formal requests were made to the U.S. about the “Brothers to the Rescue”追加:
And amid escalating tensions between Cuba and the United States, the US government decided to file charges against Army General Ra Castro Roose from our studio in Havana. And exclusive for Teles English, we have Herardo Ernnandez Nordell, National Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, Deputy for the National Assembly, and Cuban hero.
As part of Cuba's rejections to the Florida's prosecutor's office against Raul Castro RS, general of the army and historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, we are joined by Eerardo Ernnandez Nordelloo, national coordinator for the committees to defense of the revolution, deputy to the national assembly and hero of the Republic of Cuba. Herardo, thank you so much for your time for the English. Our first question is was hap what happened in 1996 and what are the reasons why Cuba rejects and condemns the recent accusations against revolution leader Ra Castro?
>> On February 24th, 1996 uh three uh small planes of uh brothers to rescue an organization base in Miami violated once again Qan airspace. the the history is u rich in violations of human airspace by by this group which uh we have to say is commanded by Jose Basulto uh a person who was trained by the CIA to to do terrorism in Cuba. is a person who uh has a long history of uh aggressions against uh Cuba was u infiltrated there in the early 60s to commit uh some acts violent acts and then went back to the US went back to Cuba in a speedboat and fire a cannon against a Cuban hotel and this person at one moment he said well I'm a pacifist now and I'm creating an organization uh named uh brothers to rescue to rescue rafters in the seas. Uh he started violating Qan aerospace uh in the ' 90s. Uh there was at least 16 diplomatic notes from Cuba to the US uh complaining and and asking the US to to do something with that organization but nothing nothing was gone. So Cuba uh protecting its people and protecting the population from these violations took action in in that day and and fire against uh two of those small planes and destroyed them.
>> Okay. So uh why Cuba rejects and condemns this recent accusations against revolution leader Robert Cast?
>> Well, first because it was a a legitimate act of protection from our people. Cuba have the right to protect its population. Uh mostly if we are talking about a terrorist who is leading an organization that is endangering our population, flying over all Havana and throwing things down from those small planes. Uh I believe that uh the people that defend Basulto say well there were uh civilian and unarmed planes and and I'm sure the American people knows very well how much damage a civilian plane unarmed could do after what happened in September 11 and so in brief uh is a this this uh accusation has no sense have the right to protect its population and on the other hand it has no morals either. there because the US is charging somebody allegedly for doing what the US is doing every week, attacking those uh speed boats and destroying them without trial or anything. As someone who has witnessed firsthand how violence has been a constant mechanism of pressure against Cuba by the United States, why they build narratives that try to deny it? How is that double standard once again exposed in the current indigment against Army General Raul Castro? And what real objectives is the US pursuing by presenting it nearly three decades after the events?
>> It makes no sense. As I said, it's happened that it's something that happened three decades ago and uh they the US is doing the same these days.
They are attacking speed boats in the Pacific seas in the Caribbean seas people that they they don't even know who they are. They just bombed them, killed them because they they uh said that they are endangering the US uh national security and they are blaming Cuba because Cuba protect its people and took action against those uh planes after complaining many many times to the US. I can tell you nobody did more to prevent those people from dying than Cuba. Cuba sent 16 diplomatic notes to the US and Cuba trying by all means that not to happen. If US if the US have uh retired by Basunto's flying license, Basuto's uh pirate license, nothing would have happened. And they they did that just after the the incident.
And those are the words of E Herardo Ernnandez Nordelloo, hero of the Republic of Cuba and and national coordinator to the committee of the defense of the revolution and also deputy to the National Assembly on Cuba's rejection on the United States accusation against historical leader of the revolution Raul Castro Eerardo.
Thank you so much for your time and we go back now to the studios.
