And we are in broad-based government to stay, the Orange Democratic Movement's top leadership has declared. ODM chair, Gladys Wanga, told supporters at Kirembe Grounds in Kisumu that the Luo community has already been assured of a 50% share in President William Ruto's government in 2027.
At the same time, she pledged that the Orange party would not shy away from criticizing the Ruto administration whenever necessary.

>> The rally dubbed Kisumu Wabiro, Kisumu we are coming, marked the first major test of ODM's post-Raila identity as party leaders sought to demonstrate unity, strength, and organizational capacity ahead of the 2027 general election.
It was here that the party leadership announced its intention to maintain a working relationship with the ruling United Democratic Alliance under a structured arrangement.
>> We are going to negotiate with the like-minded parties starting with UDA, which is our current partners.
We are going to negotiate hard.
People like Karati are not foolish people. These are very clever people.
Going to put them on the table and they will face those others and we are going to come out with a very good and well-negotiated document.
>> Party unity and that of the Luo community, which is currently facing one of its greatest tests, formed a central theme of the rally's agenda.

We must be united behind Dr. William Ruto.
>> Chants and calls for the now familiar two-term slogan echoed throughout the rally as speakers declared their unwavering commitment to supporting President Ruto for a second term in office.
