[00:00:00]Welcome into Midday Extra here on the Gulfream. I'm Ashley Mitchell. We start today with some breaking news. Three federal judges have temporarily blocked Alabama's plan to use new congressional districts in the August election. The judge is issuing the preliminary injunction earlier this morning. And the ruling means the state must keep using the current court order districts that were drawn for the 2024 election. The state of Alabama can still appeal to the US Supreme Court, so the final lines for November aren't settled just yet. For much more information on the ruling, visit fox10tv.com.

[00:00:39]And investigators are continuing an urgent search today for suspects involved in a hit in a shooting and hit run in Clark County. Sheriff Dwayne Smith says the violence broke out at a community event called Coffeeville Day.

[00:00:52]Investigators say just before the event ended over the weekend, several people started firing weapons, including some automatic gunfire. Fortunately, no one was hit, but at the same time, deputies say a woman was struck by a silver or gray Kia, and the driver took off. The sheriff says the woman is expected to be okay. And he promises those responsible will be held accountable.

[00:01:17]>> You can't reason with them. There is no reasoning with them. They think the guns make them tough and they're going to continue to do what they're going to do.

[00:01:24]It seems like it may be connected to other stuff. We just want to make sure we get them rounded up and they get their just do.

[00:01:31]>> Now, the sheriff's office is offering two separate $1,000 rewards for information that leads to arrests. If you have any information, contact the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

[00:01:43]Meanwhile, friends and family lining Highway 31 in Stapleton honoring 19-year-old Alejandro Hooper. Their message to every driver passing by watch for motorcycles. State troopers say Hooper died in a crash at that very spot more than a week ago. His aunt says he was a role model with big dreams laid to rest on Friday. It's a real sign of, you know, strength and commitment to each other and shows that we're willing to come out here and show up and support each other.

[00:02:23]12:02 and we have a safety alert for you today. If you bought a patio swing at Costco recently, stop using it right away. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling more than 18,000 AGO Menllo woven patio swings after reports of the seat detaching from the frame while in use. Eight injuries have been reported so far and the swings were sold at Costco stores and costco.com from February through March. [00:03:07]Here's a look at the forecast. This is from the weather prediction center.

[00:03:10]There flash flood outlook and you can see that slight risk is [clears throat] in place across our area. Here's the high resolution futurecast model as we head into this afternoon and see scattered showers. I've been noticing a trend in the models that if you're south of Interstate 10, it looks like a little less coverage, especially South Mobile and Baldwin counties. Northwest Florida this evening, we could see a couple showers because this has been a consistent signal here of some kind of a band developing. Either way, wherever you are this afternoon or this evening, I want you to have the rain gear just in case because uh you may need it at some point. Here's 11:00 this evening. Still some light rain happening across parts of our area and we'll keep some rain showers happening overnight tonight. So this afternoon planner, have the rain gear just in case. Temperatures around 80° and that chance of a rumble of thunder. Then we look at the evening planner, 77 degrees, 78 degrees with mostly cloudy conditions. For most of us, it will be dry, but there will be a few downpours going on. Here's a different futurecast model showing you the next 48 hours. And you can see here that temperatures uh in the 70s and 80s this afternoon. Then as we head to this evening, temperatures get into the 70s and still scattered showers and thunderstorms going on. Notice this model also shows a band over northwest Florida with some heavy rain. Exactly where that sets up, we could see some flash flooding possibly. Then as we look to Wednesday morning, the potential is there for some slight areas of patchy fog, but the most uh of us will deal with mostly cloudy skies and a slight rain shower or two. Then as we head into the afternoon, warm temperatures getting all the way up into the 80s and scattered showers and thunderstorms developing across the area. We'll keep the scattered showers around until the evening time. Then overnight, maybe a couple sprinkles. Thursday morning, patchy fog, temperatures in the 70s. You get the idea. It's repeating every single day here. As we go through this forecast all the way into the weekend, here's a rainfall forecast with the European forecast model. This takes you all the way out and you can see around average of two inches of rain. Very muggy conditions also for the days ahead. Temperatures around 80 degrees.
