Jamie masterfully bridges the gap between neurological research and social reality, grounding the trans experience in medical necessity rather than mere cultural performance. It is a rare, lucid defense of bodily autonomy that replaces reactionary fear with evidence-based empathy.

The Transgender Toilet | Trans TikToks
Added:This video is brought to you by Squarespace. It is hot. It is We're having a second heat wave in the UK and it is mid to high30s this week. I'm talking degrees Celsius here. It is sweltering. Not built for this heat. Too hot. Hey spuds, it's Jamie. Welcome back to another video. If channel, I don't know, but welcome either way. And today we are looking at trans Tik Toks. Oh yes, the nice trans Tik Toks. Sometimes they talk about more negative topics, but they are coming from the positive angle of the trans Tik Toks. They're not the trans phobic Tik Toks. I will say when I found this little collection of Tik Toks, the new trailer had just dropped for the new Harry Potter series. So, there are quite a few here that are related to that.
Just letting you know that that will be coming up a couple times throughout, but there are plenty of other things for us to look at in the world of trans Tik Toks right now. So, are you ready? Let's dive in. I really am too hot. Oh my god, I thought this room was fine. It is not fine. My cousin has made me aware FTM means transitioning female to male. Oh no. Is this another first time mom? I can't change my username for 7 days. It may look like it, but I am not. I thought it meant first time mom. Thank you for your time. Sean FTM heart. If that's the content you're coming for, I'm sorry to disappoint. This is something I've seen coming up more and more frequently. Part of me wonders is like, did these two things exist entirely separate from one another for a really long time? and there wasn't that much crossover, but with the increase of like trans awareness and things, some firsttime moms are realizing that FTM does not mean firsttime mom. Or is it that it just so happens it started to become more popular among firsttime moms who have started using this, not realizing that it was already in use.
I'm very biased being a trans man myself and not a first time mom. But for me, I will never think of it as anything but FTM. Obviously FTM, but like female to male, it will always be a trans acronym.
I wonder if there are circles where FTM just means first time mom. I would be very curious to know. But this is this is funny. The cake is complete. Now that that is a fabulous cake. What does it look like inside?
It's magical. I want that cake. Oh my god, that's brilliant. I'm not non-binary and I want that cake. Oh my god, that's such a genius idea that if you feel represented by more than one flag, so like I'm by and trans, I could have a cake that is trans inside like that one, but then the frosting is by colors. How fabulous would that be? I love cake and I love fun cakes. It's one of my favorite things. Thank you for bringing me the cake.
>> Free cake. Free cake.
>> Can watch the new Harry Potter show. You can. I'm just going to think less of you.
>> That is true. You know when people are like, "Oh, you can't tell me what to do." freedom of speech and I can do what I want. Yes, you absolutely can. But I will not be impressed and so will a lot of other people.
>> Because see, me personally, I would sooner slam my balls in a waffle iron and kick a wall with toothpicks jammed under my toenails than give that maladapted, moldingesting, bigoted wretch whatever fraction of a scent she would get from my view.
>> Wow, that is quite passionate. I respect it. She's not getting my money because in case you need a reminder, the aforementioned inbred acroantula herself, JK Rowling, has already promised that her cut of the profits from this show are going towards funding anti-trans legislation.
>> She has she has said that she will be putting her Harry Potter wealth towards funding this women's fund, but it is all about helping other bigots fight against trans rights. It is atrocious. and forming and funding an anti-trans rights organization, the explicit goal of which is quote removing trans rights from public spaces, workspaces, and quote protected female spaces. Now, I understand growing up on those books. I did, too. But there comes a point in life where you have to recognize that trans rights are more important than STAR WARS WITH SHITTY LIGHTSABERS. WELL, IF YOU WATCH THAT SHOW AND you can't do the bare minimum and sail the high seas for it, what you're doing is funding the narcissistic, hateful bigotry of a woman who cannot keep her mind off of other people's genitals and who evidently will stop at nothing to ruin the lives of trans folks. That's what you're doing and that's why I'll think less of you.
Your nostalgia is not worth ruining their lives.
>> That was very passionate. That was very passionate. I respect it. I also agree with the sentiment of there are so many things already out there in circulation that you can buy secondhand or that a lot of people will already own that if you want to relive that Harry Potter nostalgia in the privacy of your own home without putting any more money towards it. No judgment. You have the DVDs and you like watching the movies every so often, you like rereading the books every Christmas or whatever, go for it. The problem is when people are going to the studios and paying for that and then on top sometimes posting about it on social media, doing anything that provides money or shows brands and organizations that Harry Potter is still relevant. If you are nostalgic about Harry Potter, why do you need to watch a brand new television show that doesn't even have the actors in it that you'll be nostalgic about? Live in the nostalgia. Live in the secondhand and the stuff you already own. There is no need for all of this new stuff. Even places that are bringing out new merch.
It's identical to [ __ ] that was released 15 years ago. Just buy that secondhand.
But also just like to me again bias. I used to love Harry Potter. I had my primary schoolage age Harry Potter phase. I got all the books. I read them.
I went to the movies. I have done a lot of Harry Potter stuff. I swear there's still a Harry Potter Lego set from over 20 years ago in my parents' loft. But as soon as investing and spending within that franchise and promoting that franchise hurt other people, how I just couldn't do it. Yes, I'm trans myself.
It's very personal for me. But seriously, if she was bigoted another way, also wouldn't do it. Why do I want to support somebody that wants to tear down a marginalized community? The creation is tainted.
>> What What are your intentions with my daughter?
>> What are your intentions with my daughter? I remember being asked a similar question.
>> Marriage. I would never date for without marriage. Oh, >> and do you want children? Uh, >> I do, but that would be a complicated thing for me to happen. I would have to adopt because I don't Why is it >> I don't have a penis.
>> IVF is also an option. That's a really interesting way. So, I'm assuming that this is a trans mask person. I do not know if they are non-binary or a trans man, so I will go neutral for now. This is a trans mask person who is dating this woman's daughter. I'm not sure if my phrasing personally would have been I don't have a penis. That feels too personal for me. But that is just me.
I'm not judging this person for phrasing it in that way. But it does feel like the most shock factor way of putting it.
I'm transgender so I >> that's what I would have led with.
>> Cannot sire kids like that.
>> Sire kids. Okay. I feel like me and this person just have very different vocabularies or preferences in speaking.
This is not me being like negative or [ __ ] on this person cuz they are allowed to phrase their experience and their life however they feel comfortable to. Just for me, especially cuz this is being filmed. It felt like it was creating an increased drama like to say I don't have a penis. I can't desire children rather than just saying I'm a transgender man. we would need to use a sperm donor because you're kind of you're saying the same thing without being quite so with it because sometimes people can come around and be accepting.
Like I I wonder where this is going to go because phrasing it like that would probably create a little bit of a shock response in a lot of people unless it's something they have already come across and are very comfortable with it and very like they have met a trans person in their life already and are very accepting and open about it. I think there's ways that we can phrase things to make it easier to understand for somebody who hasn't been introduced to the topic before, but that is not me saying that we have to like make our language palatable for sis people. So, I'm not judging. I just wouldn't have done the same thing. But I wouldn't be >> I wouldn't uh I wouldn't mind if she wanted kids. I would say absolutely, let's adopt.
>> Oh, I don't really want kids, though.
I'm thinking he's not the one. Why?
Okay, so he him pronouns. At least you respected his pronouns, but that is a bit like take a minute to think about it. You're having like a gut response. I think it's very unfair to say this person is not the one for you based purely on the fact they're trans. That doesn't come across great. All right.
Will Natalie's boyfriend step forward?
Oh, not as in he's Okay, hold on. Sorry.
I didn't understand the concept of what was going on. She was saying, "I'm thinking he's not the one." Because she was picking from a lineup of who the boyfriends could be. And she's like, "I don't think he's the one." But also probably cuz like my daughter wouldn't date a trans.
>> Of course it's trans guy. Yeah.
She looks thrilled.
>> Are you serious?
>> Are you serious?
>> I didn't know.
Are you serious?
>> I'm Yeah, I'm her boyfriend.
>> How did you guys meet?
>> Uh, we started working together and I I basically I just took a bunch of odd jobs and she was assisting at the same place and we kind of just started like we hit it all. She's really smart. Sorry for swearing, but she's incredibly smart. She's like the most fun person you could ever be around. She's got crazy humor. She's got great music taste. She's like brilliant. Like you couldn't you couldn't find someone better than her. Anyone who could ever have her would be very very very very lucky.
>> A wow. Wow.
>> Cute but mildly cringe. But some cringe is okay. It's fine. I'll just deal with it internally.
>> Wow.
>> Are you in love? Are you in love?
>> I'm in love.
>> I'm in love.
>> I'm in love.
>> What are you talking?
Would you want to bring Clim to a party to the house?
>> Salsa. I think we can salsa together.
>> Absolutely.
>> Okay. The mom didn't have the best reaction. She also didn't have the worst reaction. I feel like that could have been done in a better way. If we separate perhaps the fact that she's having a slightly judgmental reaction, she's not dealing with it in the best way. take that to one side. Was there a better way to let a parent know that like, okay, I'm trying to think of how to phrase this because I feel like I'm fully on the couple's side in terms of being accepted for being with each other and I don't think they deserve any hate or bigotry. Of course, I dealt with a [ __ ] ton from my wife's family in the beginning of our relationship. It's all good now. I'm very happy to say complete transformation, wonderful, but it took a while and it was very, very difficult in the beginning. So, I know what that feels like. I can also appreciate how difficult it can be to be introduced to something that has never entered your world view before. You don't understand.
You don't know anything about it. It's never something that's been on the horizon of being a topic within your life. And I think there are better ways to help somebody learn about something whilst introducing them to a new topic because like you don't know what you don't know. And it's okay to not know.
And it's okay to have like a gut kind of shock reaction and be like, "Oh, I don't know how to respond right now. What's happening?" What's not okay is to respond with hate and nastiness and being mean and being very very like bigoted. I think it's totally fine to respond with a this is brand new to me.
I need a minute. I'm not sure what I'm thinking at the minute. And then I also I think it it helps massively when people are in that zone to explain it and introduce them to the topic in a educational and like gentle way. I think it can go a long way to helping with acceptance. And whilst like they are allowed to have told her in whatever way they wanted, it's just not the way I would have done it with somebody that honestly seems like they're not having a fantastic response. I don't know what they're going to be like off camera, but the on camera things felt like it could be more in the camp of I'm very takenback by this right now and I'm not sure how to respond. I've never been introduced to this before. I don't really know what's going on. I need It sounds like she's I need more information. I don't know. This is not computing at the moment. And I think there were just some things that I would not have done in how they introduced that and dealt with that conversation.
First thing being doing it recorded like that. Personally, I hope that made sense. I'm not having a go at them. I can just see how that wasn't the best environment to share that information.
At the same time, in an ideal world, there wouldn't need to be a best environment to share that information.
It would just be something that is accepted. But unfortunately, we're not in that place right now. And there are a lot of people in the world who just don't know and don't understand and may have a negative gut reaction, but who could easily with some education and conversations come round to understanding. That's just my personal opinion. I don't know. Let me know down below. You can disagree with me. And I think now it's time to take a little break before we carry on with the wonderful trans Tik Toks. Oh, and I sweat more. I do have something slightly less wonderful to share with you. You might remember that recently I started my brand new and not at all very real blog and business. But for now, let's get back to the trans Tik Toks.
>> Can somebody please tell me why the Okay, I'm hot.
>> Me, too. I feel you.
>> I need to calm down a little bit. Can somebody please tell me why the gender and sexuality is the one part of the human body that is just God's perfect creation? Cuz think about it. There is no other part of the human body that you can't change besides gender. Like your hair keeps growing, if it's too long, just get it cut. Same with your fingernails. Or if your hair's falling out, get a transplant. Your eyes don't work, wear glasses. Or get LASIC. You don't like your nose? Shave it down.
Your ears stick out, pin them back. You got too many wrinkles? Inject literal botulism into your face. You don't like your lips? Get filler. You don't like the size of your boobs? Well, get implants. They're too big. Chop them down a little bit. You got an apron belly? Just tuck that [ __ ] up. You know what? Let's go internal even further.
Your heart doesn't work? Get a transplant. Liver, kidneys, get new ones. Your hips are blown out. Your knees don't work. Just replace them, gal.
>> I mean, he has not lied so far.
>> Your gallbladder. Oh my god. There is nothing more a Midwestern woman of like 55 loves than getting that gallbladder out. Just take it on out. But don't get too close to those genitals, though, unless we find a tumor. If you got a tumor on your balls, we'll chop them right off. But if your balls are the tumor on your life that's slowly killing you every day, well, you got to keep them, buddy. Same with your uterus and ovaries. If we find a little bit of cancer, we'll rip those suckers out. But if those things are the cancer on your life that's killing you all the time, well, you just got to live with it forever. So, please someone tell me what I'm missing because I feel dumb that I don't know what it is. Y'all talk so much, but you never say anything.
>> Oh my god. Thank you. That is so true.
It's so painfully true. Oh my god. I will wait to talk more until after this is done.
>> So, please, transphobes, tell me what I'm missing. Besides the fact that you're a bunch of dumb idiots. Oh my god. I just hate transphobes so much.
God damn it. There's a lot of passion in today's trans Tik Toks, but this is so true. I've been saying for ages that anything to do with trans healthcare and transitioning is held to an insanely unattainably high standard. Oh, there's a 1% regret rate. No, nobody can do it ever. But there's a 14 12% regret rate for surgery generally away from trans related things. But we've never seen people campaign to say you can't have a boob job, you can't have rhinoplasty, you can't have a hip replacement, you can't have a knee replacement. You never see this stuff. You never see people petitioning in any other way. You never see people dedicating their lives towards saying, "Hey, I don't think people should be allowed to make autonomous decisions about what to do with their life." When it comes to other medical decisions, there are plenty of medical things as with taking things like testosterone and estrogen and having transreated surgeries that also cause permanent changes to somebody's body. But they don't have to jump through a million hoops in order to get signed off by 10 different doctors in order to have access to these hormones or have this surgical procedure 10 years after they first started the process to get it.
Different standard. It's the same in puberty blockers.
>> You called me sir, >> correct? You called the young man and I I politely corrected you multiple times.
>> Transphobes hate it when they get a taste of their own medicine.
>> You I don't You don't get to correct me.
>> Oh, the entitledness. I'm sorry that I've paused it twice already in only 9 seconds. But the entitledness of You don't get to correct me. I can correct you. I can tell you exactly how you should be referring to me cuz I am the trans phobe. But you as the trans person, how dare you? No. You do not have a right to get called what makes you comfortable and what actually represents who you are. But I do.
>> I will dress you as what I see.
>> Firstly, flawed logic because that can also lead to a lot of cis people being misgendered, including some transphob.
And secondly, for this instance, I would not look at the person in this video and call them he. That would not be my gut reaction. If they didn't tell me otherwise, my natural reaction would be to use she her pronouns for this person.
I have no obligation whatever to enter.
>> Yes, you do, sir. Unless, of course, >> is this bigot not hearing herself? She's saying, "I have no obligation to call you what you are asking to be called, but you have an obligation to call me what I'm being asked to be called."
That's so rude.
>> Unless Unless Burger King has a policy to behave this way to their clients.
Maybe they do. We will find that out. I think the person working, she's staying remarkably calm. Remarkably calm.
>> Hi.
>> Hello.
>> Can I help you?
>> Yes, ma'am. Kathy Brown. And you are the manager.
>> Well done for saying your full name for all of the internet to hear. So, the manager comes over.
>> I'm actually one of the owners, but we have no video recording, so I'll be more than happy to help you, but you can't record us.
>> Oh, I'm a First Amendment lawyer, and I can definitely record you. Absolutely. I want to file a formal complaint. I have been a patron of let's see I've been a patron of Burger King for many many years.
>> As soon as somebody starts saying I have been a patron who in their life has ever said I am a patron of this fast food chain >> years and I came here I always received nothing but excellent service but I came here today I had a coupon and I ordered what I ordered and one of the things was accidentally left out. Not a problem. I came back around to get it >> and I thanked the young man who waited on me and I called I said to him, "Thank you, young man." When I did so, when I came back, >> oh, did it end? Why are these broken into multiple parts? I want to see the whole thing. I don't know where part three is. I'm assuming there must be a part three, but what the heck? I thought we were going to get to see the manager's response. The audacity. I'm glad that a manager came and stepped in though and stopped the trans person from getting harassed because she did not deserve to get harassed at her place of work or anywhere by a bigot. Maybe I'll put that woman off being a patron of Burger King.
>> What actually happens in the brain during gender dysphoria? Hello, I'm Dr. Dave, your transgender health and hormone specialist with almost 30 years in the field.
>> Dr. Dave has a fabulous beard.
>> Let's talk about something a lot of people misunderstand. What actually happens in the brain during gender dysphoria? I didn't know this >> because dysphoria isn't just an idea.
It's a real psychological and neurological experience. Here's what we know from research. Gender identity appears to develop very early in life during brain development in the womb before birth. And the brain is influenced by hormones during fetal development.
>> Yes, >> those hormones help shape areas of the brain involved in body perception, identity, and social behavior. In some people, the brain develops in a way that aligns with the sex they were assigned at birth. But in others, certain brain structures and neural patterns and pathways appear to resemble those typically seen in the gender they identify with.
>> Yes, I knew this. And also, can we just say Dr. Dave has a very calming voice, very calm, >> not the sex they were assigned. Several studies looking at brain structure and function have found patterns like this in transgender individuals. Now, that does not mean there's one single transgender brain or organ.
>> The transgender brain.
>> Human brains are incredibly complex, but it does suggest that gender identity has a biological component rooted in brain development.
So, what does dysphoria actually feel like neurologically?
Think of it like a mismatch signal. Your brain has an internal map of who you are, including your gender. When your body and the way the world sees you don't match that internal map, the brain registers it as distress. And that distress can show up as anxiety, depression, disassociation, a persistent feeling that something about your life isn't quite right. Well, that would explain the the very many multitude of studies that shows that transitioning socially, hormone surgery reduces gender dysphoria and then we see a reduction in depression and anxiety as well >> and doesn't fit. When people transition and their bodies and identity start to align, we often see that distress significantly decrease. Not because >> Sorry, Dr. D. I said it before you said it. I should have waited >> was convinced or talked into something but because the brain and body mismatch is reduced and that's why gender affirming care can be so important for so many people. So the short version is this gender dysphoria isn't just a social idea. It appears to involve real brain processes related to identity, body perception and development. and understanding that helps us treat people with more compassion and better medicine. Drop your questions below. And remember, let's always love, protect, and support one another.
>> Oh, how cute. Isn't science wonderful?
Isn't biology amazing. It's just such a shame that transphobes are stuck on the basics, and they don't even understand those. That was very cool.
>> I don't give a if JK Rowling is transphobic. She can use her platform however she wants. I'm gonna watch the show because I love Harry Potter. So, they announced the release.
>> I'm going to assume that was a satire.
Also, I love this person's at I'm not Chapel Rowan. They really do look like Chapel Rowan. Yeah, I can see the necessity for that.
>> A new Harry Potter series. And trans people everywhere said, "Do you think you could sit this one out, please?
We've got a lot of Harry Potter content." And at this point, the incredibly transphobic creator has vowed all of the proceeds from this new show will be used to attack transgender people, remove our access to public spaces and healthcare.
>> And removing access to public spaces is a big topic in the UK right now. I know it's happening in other places, but some scary things happening which we'll talk about more in a minute.
>> And ultimately demonize us to the point that we feel too uncomfortable to continue living. And you all said, "I don't give a if JK Rowling is transphobic. She can use her platform however she wants. I'm going to watch the show because I love Harry Potter.
And then the Nazi was like, "By the way, Snape's going to be black." And you guys lost your [ __ ] minds. You would not boycott the show in the name of inclusivity, but you're boycotting it in the name of hating a minority group. And this is where our party lines separate.
The left is tolerant and the right is intolerant. And then the right gets huffy and puffy and mad when the left refuses to extend our tolerance to their intolerance. I know words are hard for you guys, but even you have to realize that that negates the term entirely, right? Trans women are women. JK Rowling is in the Epstein files. This new show is going to suck. And it's not because Snape is black. Okay, bye.
>> Yeah, this is very true. Again, it's just so unnecessary. It was unnecessary that they remade it. is so gh POV. You find transphobic books. Transphobic books at Goodwill and throw them right in the trash. She is She, a book about your identity by Bethany and Ryan Bombberger. Oh, he is he. What does it say on the back? Undeniable biological beautiful her. Oh god. Yes. In the trash where they belong. Thank you. At least somebody gave them away. That's what Goodwill is, right? I think. Is that like a a secondhand place?
Walking through King's Cross Station when suddenly you stepped in poo.
Ah, yes. Utter [ __ ] >> I just got so angry I had to say something. Everything that I had to go through for my two seasons playing on that volleyball team with a man.
>> SJSU volleyball player didn't know for months about trans teammate.
>> Say something. Everything that I had to go through for my two seasons playing on that volleyball team with a man. I'm going to assume that the person they're referring to as a man was a trans woman.
>> Not only playing with him, but living with him without first knowing that I was living with a man.
>> Do you need to know intimate details about everybody's identity, sexuality, medical history when you live with them?
Would you feel the same way if you found out somebody that you'd been living with was a lesbian or had a hidden disability that you didn't know about or, I don't know, wore a wig? Would it upset you?
These are all personal details about people that they don't need to share with you just because you happen to be on the same sports team.
>> These are the types of things this these were the first few months of me being there that I had no idea.
>> Wait, you're telling me you don't see a problem with that logic? Let's talk about it, shall we? This is Brooks Slusser, the volleyball player from San Jose State University who is now famous for telling the world about how traumatic it was for her to find out that her teammate Blair Fleming is a trans athlete. And to make >> shock horror, the trans phobe is posing herself as the victim. And to make her point, Slusser stresses that she played and lived with Blair Fleming for months before discovering that Fleming is trans.
So, let me get this straight. The problem was so pervasive that it took you months to discover it and you discovered it from an article. You see, the general argument made by people like Sluster for refusing to accept the existence of trans people. Yes, I said refusing to accept their existence because throughout her video, Slicer refers to Blair Fleming as a he. That general argument is that it's somehow dangerous to accept them or to even share a space with them. More dangerous than co-ed college parties. More dangerous than meeting a stranger you met on an app. Yes, even more dangerous than studying at a university that made the news for its horrific sorority hazing practices. And yet, to your own admission, for months, you were able to live peacefully with somebody who became dangerous only after admitting that she's trans. That's when somehow she became a threat. You were not impacted by her behavior. You were impacted by her existence. Oh, that was such a good line. That is so true. That was so true.
There was no like the trans woman was not actually doing anything to impact your life. You were just impacting yourself at this point. And that to me is the saddest thing of all about this.
The inability to differentiate between sensible fear and indefensible prejudice.
>> I like the justice guy. The justice guy.
I like him. That was very cool. That was very That was well worded. Good job.
>> Millennials, it's time to let go of Harry Potter. It is actually past time to let go of Harry Potter. You should have let go of Harry Potter a decade ago. If we're talking about it's time to move on, sure. But we can all have our little enjoyments and guilty pleasures.
I think it was time to move on. I mean, like 2020 is when stuff started happening, but I'd say like at least 3 years ago, if not four is really the cut off of when you should have gone, I don't want to financially support this person anymore.
>> She's not getting my money.
>> What I think a lot of you are not grasping or are purposely ignoring is that JK Rowling isn't just a public figure who happens to be anti-trans. She is an anti-trans activist.
>> That is an important distinction. She's not just somebody that holds these beliefs and occasionally they come out the woodwork. She is somebody that is actively putting money and time and effort into reducing trans rights. She has intentionally or unintentionally boyed up a whole community of turfs and transphobes who feel empowered in their bigotry because they are seeing somebody so famous be so strong with their opinion as well. That is a very good way to put it.
>> Immense wealth to fund anti-trans politicians, legislature, organizations, anti-trans hate groups. She's not passively sitting aside holding a sign that says, "I hate trans people." And that's the extent of it. She wants a trans genocide. She is pursuing the death of all trans people. So, while you're all celebrating the new Harry Potter series on HBO, what you're forgetting or what you are choosing to ignore is that JK Rowling is an executive producer on the show. Every time you watch one of the episodes, you are patting her pockets. And all that money that you are giving her, she is then giving to the most evil people known to man. Your craving for nostalgia and your love of a middle-grade book series is not worth trans lives. It's not. It never will be. And if you think that it is, you are subhuman. I don't think that you have a soul. Out of all the media in the world, out of all the books and the TV shows that you could be invested in, I promise you, you do not have to settle on the one that harms your fellow human beings. Okay, bye.
That is so true. That is so there.
There's Do you know how many amazing book series are out there? How much amazing media is out there? Like fandoms every You do not need it to be Harry Potter. There were literally people whose entire online careers, their jobs, their incomes were built on creating content around Harry Potter. They gave up that money. It was basically the equivalent of walking away from your job with no security of another one because they couldn't do something that would then be actively harming the trans community because they would be so openly promoting Harry Potter and increasing the awareness and increasing the amount that people are buying into the franchise. If people can do that, you can just not watch a new TV show about something that already has what seven movies out about it. You don't need new stuff. I made a video on my other channel where I talk mostly about like books and media about things that you can read instead of Harry Potter.
So, you can go check that one out if you want to. But yeah, there really there really isn't an excuse at this point. Oh my god. I thought there was a cat in the room cuz I felt something on my leg, but it was just the sofa cushion moving. I had that moment where I realized there wasn't a cat and I was alone, but I'd felt something on my leg. I thought I was going to die, but I'm fine. It's okay. It was just the sofa to chat. Hi, transgirl here. I'm about to leave the house in the UK, aka Bridget Phillipsson's a trans maid's tale.
Oh my god.
>> And as you can see, I'm dressing fem.
I'm voice.
>> I laugh. It's sad.
>> Training. And I have my bin bag with me.
This is the essential new accessory you all want this summer. Or you tea girls or you Butch them or you chicky little trans eggies, make sure you have this because now that pissing in public is prescribed, we need to make sure we carry our third space with us. Now, >> I'm laughing cuz I would cry. I really appreciate that some people could be humorful about this. I think it's the best way. It's the approach I like to take. Also, we need a moment for like serious discussions about what's happening. But if we can just have a moment of like, is it levity? Is that the word I'm thinking of? Humor, then that's great. Basically, in the UK right now, a code of practice from the EHRC has been laid out in parliament. It can still be challenged, but I believe that there is like a there's a window for this. It's not something that is law yet. However, if it were to become legally enforcable, it's basically saying that things like toilets and changing rooms, like single sex spaces, must be used on the basis of biological sex. So, trans men can't use the men's, trans women can't use the women's. And then there was like a caveat to cover like trans people who had transition.
So, I guess like trans people in my position where I'm like, no way in hell could I ever go in the women's, nor would I ever go in the women's because that is highly inappropriate. I will just continue using the men's. But under this code of practice, it's like places need to offer a like third space for trans people. Great. I've always wanted to be outed when having to go for a pee in public. Wonderful. No, I won't be doing that. So, I've seen several trans people joking about like, you now must carry around a bin bag. I mean, just just [ __ ] on the aisle. Like, don't even bother with the bin bag. Make it as messy and as annoying as possible. get caught short rather than have to go into the biological boy and risk getting physically or verbally assaulted. I can just piss and [ __ ] freely into my bin bag, boost the house down, slay mama, get on with my girl boss day. Also, the main advantage is if I get any slack on public transport, or if I get threatened whilst I'm walking around minding my own business, maybe I'm breathing with an unfair physical advantage that my forester doesn't like, I can just climb inside my bin bag, cover myself in my own feces, tie it above my head in a cute little bow, Gareth Williams style, and then throw myself into the nearest landfill like the piece of human trash the government think I am. Okay, have fun, girl. Brat boss summer sleigh queen. I'm with Hillary. Go girls. Okay, I thought she was going to say you can just dump it over anyone who's giving you trouble. That would be my option.
There is pain behind the humor. It's a frustrating and and worrying time to be trans in the UK and not just in the UK, but obviously like I'm I'm in the UK.
I'm a trans person in the UK and this just happened last month. So, it's the problem is with this kind of stuff is it's it's transphobic. It's uninforceable and it's going to harm more than just trans people.
predominantly trans people, but also gender non-conforming cis people will now be harassed when using the bathroom.
It's already happening even before there's any guidance or laws. Just the general conversations and the paranoia from bigots around trans people peeing has led to an increase in sis women being verbally harassed in public spaces like toilets and changing rooms. And that is a side quest because obviously this has massively impacted the trans community. Even if this code of practice never becomes legally enforceable, it will still cause huge ramifications. It still causes a huge level of internal discomfort from trans people going out into public and using these spaces worried that somebody might say something. It still will lead to a lot of organizations enacting that code of practice within their private institutions, even if they don't legally have to. It is utter [ __ ] And on that note, let's wrap up the video.
