The artist’s use of discarded puzzle pieces serves as a sophisticated metaphor for the fragmented and reconstructed nature of the Filipino-American identity. It is a compelling example of how unconventional materials can challenge traditional gallery narratives through personal and cultural storytelling.

VLOG 6.26 | BUCKHEAD ART & CO
Added:Okay.
I'm taking her to a group art show at the Hudgens Center in Duluth.
So, it's kind of far away. We're in like downtown Atlanta.
>> If I look cute, you have to get a picture.
>> You do look cute.
Okay, we're here at the art show.
We're here at the art show. I'm going to show you my Talia's work. Talia cuz she was an MFA painting major and now she's a teacher.
And there's her mom.
These are more of her paintings.
Yeah.
>> [laughter] >> Show your jewelry.
Wait, you got to do it with the lighter.
Yeah, like this.
Ever since I learned that, I do that now.
Slight thing. I have no shame in this.
Look.
Period.
It's so cute.
>> Thank you.
>> You actually do. You look so good.
>> Thank you, honey.
>> Happy Mother's Day to me.
>> Is it Mother's Day today?
>> Yes, honey.
>> Oh, shh.
Happy Mother's Day.
>> Thank you.
>> Yay. Back to her motherly antics in the hotel, right?
>> Actually, this makes me very happy.
Mother's Day is all about being with the pookie.
>> She made us a little Mother's Day brunch.
I'm going to see Sydney. She's leaving.
She's going out of town, so we're going to watch her dog.
Yeah. What a [ __ ] privilege that is, eh?
>> [music] [music] >> I never showed you guys what my mom got me.
She got me all new set of her sprays, [music] which I love to death.
And then she gave me like one of her bliss butters, which [music] smell amazing.
And then she has a new product that's coming out [music] soon. It's like a sensual line product, but I ran out of my other one of this. I talked about this [music] in a previous video.
Thank you, Mommy. I love you. Check the description [music] box for the link products because they are literally incredible elevated hemp-based products.
I'm just moving art around and my mom was in a hotel for the week here in Atlanta for Mother's Day weekend. I just said bye to her.
Look like I have a sculpture in my car right now. That's what the inside of my sculpture looks like. That is a fake boob made out of silicone.
Um speaking of fake boob, my mom told me when she was leaving, she was like, "You're so lucky that your BBL didn't work because can you imagine how ridiculous you would look right now?"
I am planning a solo exhibition for a painter here in Atlanta. She's amazing.
I'm going to keep that all a surprise until I'm like a little bit more prepared to talk about it, but we're back, baby.
It's the next day.
We are going to an opening for an exhibition for an artist. So, yeah, we're going to go to the opening. It's at Buckhead Art & Co.
And go say hi to Jeffrey and look at his art.
Oh.
I'm here, darling, and it's absolutely wonderful. I'm going to show you around a little bit.
Over there, that whole wall is Jeffrey.
That's the artist that I was telling you about.
That's Jeffrey.
This is Jeffrey, too. This big piece.
And if you look really closely, you can see that the entire thing is made out of tiny puzzle pieces, which is a common theme in every single piece of his.
He's like the puzzle guy.
And then look how pretty.
>> Uh, we are gathered here today Um, I'm not really a speaker, so I'm going to fumble. But, we've gathered here today to honor the uh, in honor of Asian and uh, Pacific Islander heritage.
We have gathered tonight a Filipinos in the art industry here in Atlanta.
One of these Jeffrey will pop back again, who you probably have met. If not, please find your way to introduce yourself easily.
>> [applause] [music] [music] >> Also joining us always good to be here.
And with this series, it's puzzles.
>> [clears throat] >> In 2015, I started experimenting with puzzles.
And I always work with marginalized non-traditional discarded materials. And I realized as I'm adding to my story, it's really part of what I'm trying to emote and express.
And then again, in the last two years, I'm re-tap re-finding my identity as a Filipino American Asian.
>> Woah.
So what do I look like?
That was lovely. I love Buckhead. This is where I lived before I moved. So really good art show. I'm going to go now.
But very good.
>> Good camera skills.
>> Yeah.
>> [music] >> Sydney flew to Spain today. So we're going to go and dog sit her baby. And I asked her if I could just take her dog with me to my house. And she was like, "Yeah, girl." So let's go get her dog.
Good morning.
We're going to do a photo shoot for a colleague and friend that I met in the gallery scene like 2 years ago.
And she is starting an event group and doing a photo shoot, and she reached out and was like, "Do you want to be a part of this project?" And I was like, "Of course I do."
Okay.
You ordered everything?
Thank you.
Oh, my camera's [ __ ] up.
We're in the bathroom of um Are you one of the producers?
>> Yes.
>> We're We're in a bathroom of one of the producers' apartment.
>> [laughter] >> Thank you.
I'm Good girl.
So funny.
>> [laughter] >> She's like, "Can you put this on your laps?" And we're like, "No."
>> [music] >> Yeah, but we don't want to Yeah, we can do it that way. Wait, hold on.
Okay.
I had to leave the shoot because we went like 2 hours over, which is very normal, believe it or not. I'm leaving because a colleague of mine is having her MFA exhibition at SCAD later, and I really want to go to that. Okay.
I took a nap. I changed. I did not redo my makeup.
I need to go get an orchid or something.
This is for Melby's MFA exhibition show.
Um She's a photographer, and she's absolutely incredible. So, we're going to go to SCAD Midtown Atlanta.
That was amazing. I took pictures of her and a bunch of pictures of the exhibition. And if you ever want to know what they look like, you just follow me on Instagram. Um I guess that's it.
