Chang and Gordon, we're going to pick up where Doug left off, the major issue of Taiwan. Did anything materially change with respect to Taiwan following the summit?
One word answer, no.
It was very clear. Although Xi Jinping issued those very stark words, you know, Secretary of State Rubio was very clear.
US policy has not changed. And so, I think we're going to see um very little in the way of uh China action on Taiwan.
The problem here for Xi Jinping is that his military is not ready to invade, and the United States is standing firm. The people in Taiwan, they want good relations with Beijing, but they don't self-identify as Chinese. They see themselves as Taiwanese. I think the status quo will continue, and the status quo is great for the United States, it's great for Taiwan, and it's great for the free world. Now, you mentioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio talking about the United States' current stance when it comes to Taiwan. Here he is doing just that.
US policy on the issue of Taiwan is unchanged as of today and as of the meeting that we had here today. It was raised. They always raise it on their side. We always make clear our position, and we move on to the other topic.
>> China's preference is probably to have Taiwan willingly, voluntarily join them.
We think it would be a terrible mistake to force that through force or anything of that nature. It would There would be repercussions for that globally, not just from the United States. There was an $11 billion arms sale, Gordon, that was approved in December. It has not yet been fulfilled. Another $14 billion that's awaiting approval. These weapons would be sold to Taiwan. I'm sure that one of Xi Jinping's goals was to make sure that this arms sale doesn't go through. So, what does the president What does President Trump do here regarding these arms?
Um we're just going to have to wait and see. And and that really is the answer for most issues following this summit.
You know, Carly, most summits are canned. Everything is decided before the foreign leader arrives in Beijing. This one wasn't. There was actually work done on those discussions among Chinese and and US officials. So, I think what we're going to see going on are are a number of announcements on things. And one of them is that there will be an announcement on the new arms package at some point. Um the Chinese are very intransigent on a lot of things. We heard some pretty defiant words from Xi Jinping on Thursday, uh dismissive of the United States. So, I I think that essentially we're going to see the Trump administration um impose costs on China just as China's been imposing costs on us in the run-up to the summit. And I think that that will continue afterwards. The competition continues, and this is going to be, I think, good for the United States. Gordon, I'm trying to view Taiwan Very interesting stuff there indeed. Okay, very interesting stuff there indeed. I want to see what the comments are saying though. That's really what I'm curious about. So, let's definitely just zoom in, okay, to see. All right. Uh people are saying it's a bad idea to depend on any foreign country for anything. What are your thoughts on that? Okay.
Um I think it's very, you know, that's a very strong take as well. And uh I definitely think that, you know, we should rely on American stuff for sure.
But let me know what you guys think down below in the comments, all right? And other people are saying we need to be focused on building semiconductor factories, all right? Uh why don't we make our own semi- semiconductors? Okay.
No deals were made. Uh yeah, and why don't we make pharmaceuticals? Let's start making more semiconductors in the USA.
Um and yeah.
Okay, just a few weeks ago when Canada went to China to do a trade deal, the US went crazy.
Um military equipment short military date not mention military information. This is very questionable.
Um yeah, America should only depend on America, period. And that's that's really where my head is at, okay? I think definitely America should depend on America for sure. And uh you know, that kind of thing. But let me know what you guys think down below in the comments, okay?
Uh shout out to Marco Rubio for clearing certain things up, all right? Make money, not confrontations. 15-second sound bite of Rubio speaking.
Uh definitely thought it was going to be more for sure. And let me see.
But we're going to we're going to dive more into what Marco Rubio was saying, and I think it's important for us to cover more Marco Rubio as well because one of the things that I'm noticing is President Trump sending Marco Rubio out more and more and more uh just to speak and provide clarity to the American people as to what's going on regarding everything the Trump administration is focused on. So, we're definitely going to cover Marco Rubio.
And would you guys like to see Marco Rubio run for president in 2028? Would you like to see a Marco Rubio uh president and J- J.D. Vance vice president ticket, or would you like to see J.D. Vance as a president and Marco Rubio as vice president? Or do you want Gavin Newsom as president? All right, let me know what you guys think or AOC, okay? Do you Do you think AOC or Gavin Newsom would make an excellent president in 2028? Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments. Shout out to the King Squad. Smash like button. Hit subscribe.
