When a nation achieves its strategic objectives in a military operation, it may choose to conclude the operation and pursue diplomatic solutions rather than further escalation, as demonstrated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's announcement that Operation Epic Fury is concluded, with the US preferring peace and seeking a memorandum of understanding for future negotiations.

BREAKING: Rubio says “Operation Epic Fury Is Concluded” | US Signals Shift Toward Peace | US IranAdded:
Have some breaking news coming in now.
[music] Big statement coming in from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He says, and I quote, "Operation Epic Fury is concluded. We achieved the objectives of that operation. We are not [music] cheering for an additional situation to occur now.
We would prefer the path of peace."
Unquote.
Operation Epic Fury is concluded. We achieved the objectives of that operation. I'm not going to, you know, we're not cheering for an additional situation to occur. We would prefer the path of peace. What the president would prefer is a deal. He would prefer to sit down, work out a memorandum of understanding for future negotiations that touches on all the key topics that have to be addressed, a full opening of the straits so the world can get back to normal. That he and he preferred that that be negotiated through the route that Stephen and Jared have been working and that all of us have been supporting.
That's the route he prefers. That is so far not the route that Iran has chosen.
And so the result has been that the United States has to do something about the fact that we're the only nation on Earth that can do anything to open up a lane within the Straits of Hormuz to get product and to rescue these people that are trapped in there. And that's what we're undergoing now.
And for more on this, I'm being joined by CNN News18 Siddhant Mishra. Siddhant, a very good morning to you. Big statement coming in from Marco Rubio.
He's saying operation has been concluded, objectives have been achieved. Does this mean we're looking at full de-escalation now?
Well, of course, uh look, Marco Rubio is is someone in the Trump administration who is very articulate and very clear in his head about what he's talking, what he's speaking. He believes less on rhetoric, more on uh more on, you know, perhaps talking about the reality. Now, in fact, yesterday he was at the White House, perhaps at the press briefing, and and he did the press briefing at the White House. So, he announced that Operation Epic Fury is concluded. We have achieved the objectives of the operation. We are not cheering for an additional situation to occur. We would prefer the path of peace. Perhaps this is statement is coming from Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a time when there have been ceasefire violations twice uh in last 48 hours where you know, uh the missiles and drones were allegedly launched by Iran on UAE.
Fujairah oil facility was hit. Three Indians have have been have been injured. In fact, there are also reports of fire being exchanged between Iranian and the US forces uh in the uh Persian Gulf. Uh After this development, perhaps all the West Asian countries condemn the Iranian strikes uh on UAE. In fact, uh uh you know, uh uh and but Iran says that they have no role to play. It's a false statement by uh UAE. But somewhere because of the announcement of the Project Freedom, uh you know, third world uh third countries have transited through the Hormuz Strait, somewhere impacted uh the ceasefire uh between US and Iran. And now it looks like US is fully on the back foot, and they want uh a deal with Iran. So, the status of the deal is that Iran has sent proposal to the United States. Uh perhaps it is up to the United States to decide and get back to Iran. The ball is in US's court. Now, we really don't know the details about about the deal and and and, you know, the status of of of the proposal uh made by Iran. All we know is that perhaps this is statement by Secretary of uh State Marco Rubio, as I said, that he's articulate and he's very clear uh in his head what he's saying.
He he he believes in talking reality than rhetoric. So, if he's saying that Operation Epic Fury is over, perhaps it means that US is on a back foot. US does not want to escalate it further with Iran. There were multiple statements in last 2 weeks, perhaps despite the ceasefire uh you know, uh uh asserting that US has military build-up in in the region, and and, you know, the kinetic action could be expected, so on and so forth. So, you know, putting all those stories, all those speculations to rest, uh Marco Rubio announces that Operation Epic Fury is over.
Okay, Siddhant, thank you so much for joining us this morning.
And for now, we are slipping into a short break. Don't go anywhere. We've got lots lined up for you right on the other side.
