[00:00:35]Now, on the other side, Al Green Let me do it differently. Representative Christian Menefee defeated Al Green. Al Green is no longer in, he lost his primary. In the 18th Congressional District, he was he was gerrymandered.

[00:00:51]And this was one of those districts, I think two people had made transition in this particular district. Sheila Jackson Lee, this was her district as well. She She made transition uh July 2024, her daughter took over. It was sworn in to complete her her her term and then uh Representative, I think, Turner took over and then he died in office a month a month later.

[00:01:17]So this was the race for that seat because uh Representative Green got gerrymandered out of his seat, so he ran in this district and he lost. He lost.

[00:01:26]And, you know, Al Green will show up.

[00:01:28]He's going to have a sign on. get thrown out of the State of the Union. He's going to be out there telling the truth.

[00:01:33]He's going to uh do all of the things.

[00:01:36]I don't know if this is a loss for Texas. I'm not in Texas. I don't know Christian Menefee. Smith and Alexa let's invite him on.

[00:01:43]18th Congressional District, is this good? Well, y'all showed up. Y'all showed up, so you must think that he's a he's a better choice. He's 38 years old.

[00:01:52]He was sworn into Congress this year when he won that special election to replace Representative Sylvester Turner who died.

[00:01:58]Um, Green is 78.

[00:02:02]40-year difference. I'm I'm going to say this without being an ageist. Hopefully, I'm not. I think at some point, we need fresh new energy in Congress. We need people who are about that life, also. And I'm I'm going to think Mr. Menefee, Representative Menefee, is about that life.

[00:02:18]But, he has 40 years younger on Al Green. And may I don't know. I I I love the institutional knowledge. At the same time, I brought up Maxine Waters. Do we You know, I I do think that there's something to be said for passing the baton and and and helping the next generation take over.

[00:02:38]Um, Menefee was previously uh the Harris County Attorney.

[00:02:43]And he uh had a bunch of lawsuits uh that he presided over um against Trump.

[00:02:50]You know, so so he's he's not a pan You know, he's not somebody that's laying down.

[00:02:55]But, that happened. Al Green will not be in Congress next year, uh as well. So, we we got 7 more months of Al Green and Jasmine Crockett and uh what's his name? Thomas Massie. I Y'all go out with a bang. All right?

[00:03:17]Uh Cornyn J- uh Senator Cornyn, who got primary as well in Texas on the Republican side, because uh Trump was backing his um horrible opponent.

[00:03:31]I'm not trying to negotiate with the 77 77 million people that thought Donald Trump was a good choice and they would vote for him again and again. They'll vote for him for a third term. These people we we can't negotiate with them.

[00:03:44]Brains addled. Souls emptied. There's no You know, and if you you can get one or two, that's not going to be my ministry.

[00:03:52]I would That's not I'm I'm going to ask their family members who might have some good damn sense to to to do that work. That will never be my ministry. I'm not trying to figure out some strategy to get them over and this should not be the strategy of the Democratic Party either.

[00:04:27]But anyway, Trump backed Ken Paxton over Cornyn and it seems like some of the GOP people are a little upset and miffed about that. Susan Collins said, "It it is very sad and unsettling and not good for the Senate."

[00:04:41]She said that. Um you're not good for the Senate. So, I don't I I can't be on anybody's side with this one. Um I don't really care what's going on over there.

[00:04:50]I don't look at the Republican Party as the Republicans.

[00:04:54]They're not Jack Kemp Republicans.

[00:04:55]They're not Eisenhower Repub- They're not Republicans.

[00:04:58]Um and um all this means is this uh we got a lot more work to do.
