This video features a heated debate between journalist Mehdi Hasan and an IDF spokesperson regarding the Israel-Gaza conflict, where Hasan challenges the military's claims about hospital attacks and journalist killings. The exchange highlights how political debates can become chaotic when one side uses personal attacks and interruptions rather than substantive responses, and demonstrates the importance of fact-checking official narratives through independent research. The debate illustrates how media accountability and the lack of consequences for alleged war crimes can fuel public skepticism toward official statements.

Mehdi Hasan EXPLODES on IDF Spokesperson: "Are You SERIOUSLY Saying That?!Added:
All right, so this debate completely spirals out of control. What starts as another tense exchange between an IDF spokesperson quickly turns into one of the most chaotic and explosive moments we've seen on live television in a long time. And trust me, the back and forth in this clip only gets more intense as it goes on. Before we dive into the full story, comment where you're watching from and don't forget to like and subscribe so you don't miss the next one. Now, let's get into it. He wants this war to continue for his own reasons, for the ideological reasons of his cabinet allies and and the military, you know, the Israeli military has now come to its senses saying this is not helping. This is the same Israeli military that has committed multiple war crimes. I mean, Jonathan talked earlier about, you know, what the purpose of combat is. He said he was a proud IDF man. He's proudly part of a military that last week bombed a hospital, not once, but twice. A double tap strike according to CNN triple tap strike killing emergency responders, journalists, aid workers in front of our eyes. That is his glorious military.
It's an Israeli military which according to doc Nick Nick Maynard peers who you know British doctor I interviewed him last month. He said he treated Palestinian teenagers in his hospital in Gaz over the summer who was shot in the testicles. Multiple children shot in the testicles by Jonathan's military. The same military that killed 15 paramedics in April and they just buried them with their ambulances in the sand. They were buried in the sand by the Israeli military in April. They lied. The Israelis, they said, "Oh, the lights were off. We didn't know who they were.
Hamas were firing." Turned out all to be a lie. You know what the Israelis did, Pierce? They fired the deputy commander.
That's it. Nobody went to prison. No one was charged. They murdered 15 people.
That's the military that Jonathan's come to defend. The most immoral military right now in the world that is bombing hospitals in front of our eyes.
Jonathan.
>> Yeah, it's, you know, it's various levels of ridiculous, but uh listen, Mi, there's been a job opening. Israel finally got rid of Abu Oeda, very prolific and wellto get better with your Hamas propaganda, genocidal, more criminal. You support trying to put a target on me? Are you a Levy trying to put a target on me?
>> Are you trying to put a target on? Yes, you've done that stick with you killing.
You've done it with work with me little stick with it doesn't impress me, but I'm telling you improve your Arabic just a bit. You keep saying I'm based on you improve your Arabic just a bit. I think you are criminal in fact to become a very prolific spokesperson for engaged in sexual violence against women. You're being investigated in international criminal courting. You are part of an argument that is committing genocide.
Jonathan killed propaganda at a hospitalating things from >> I can condemn Hamas. You can't condemn the genocidal Israeli. Let me jump in.
Let me jump in. Jonathan Israeli military and now you want to kill every journalist that speaks out against you.
THIS LAST WEEK ON THAT. Jonathan last week your military killed five. Let me ask a question.
>> You're doing a great job and you're doing a great job as Julius Striker.
>> Let me ask a question because nobody can hear either of you. Nobody can hear either of you.
>> That's how history will remember you.
>> Let me ask you propaganda.
>> Jonathan, about the incident about Jonathan, let me speak about the incident that Medy's alluding.
>> I just want to talk about the hospital.
I'm just about to ask him about the hospital. If you let me do my hospital, let me do my job. Let me please ask you a question and do my job. So, Jonathan, the incident that Betty is alluding to, the the double tap attack on a hospital which killed five journalists, this takes a total of journalists to over 200. There are now journalists all over the world who are protesting about this.
people from CNN, from Reuters, from AP, from every serious news organization in the world saying that there is a a mini genocide going on with actual journalists in Gaza and that the only reason for this, the deliberate systematic attacks on journalists is because Israel does not want people reporting on what is actually happening there. I know you agree with me because you've said it many times that Israel should allow the international media in to do their jobs, but so far they're not doing that. They're only allowing in certain friendly journalists embedded with the IDF to report what they want them to report. But until there is free unfettered access of journalists into that region to to to report on this stuff, there is a belief that Israel is going about now deliberately or systematically killing Palestinian journalists to silence them. What is your response to that?
>> Yeah, that belief is wrong and I have a few things to say. first about the horrible uh tragic mistake at NASA hospital. That is not what uh I envision in terms of Israeli operations. That is a tactical mistake uh by forces on the ground that saw a camera on top of a building. Assessed that the camera was operated by kamas because kamas has been operating cameras from all civilian buildings including from hospitals in order to monitor the troop movement of Israeli troops and then to detonate IEDs or otherwise to direct combat activity against Israeli troops. And that is why when Israeli troops saw that camera and other activity on top of the that building, they engaged. Uh regretfully, five uh journalists, some of them working for international media outlets were killed. That is not a desired outcome. That is a mistake and that should not happen on the battlefield.
Full stop. Six terrorists were also killed in that attack. When I spoke with uh six Hamas known operatives were killed. When I spoke with people in the IDF, my questions were actually about the second er strike where which we saw live on an Arabic network which I agree looks horrible should not happen and uh is something that I'm waiting for the IDF to investigate and to present findings and to say this is why the mistake happened and these are the steps that we have taken in order to rectify it. And I believe that the IDF will do that. And I believe that this is not what the IDF was seeking to achieve because it was very clearly aid workers and others that were trying to rescue people that were wounded from the first engagement. So this was not intentional.
This was a battlefield mistake in a chaotic or very difficult combat environment of troops that are under fire from civilian buildings that where the enemy uses hospitals and schools and mosques and houses in order to fire from. This is the reality in Gaza made by kamas which we many times gloss over >> and no as I said they were from that but first of all kamas has fired from the NASA hospital several times in the past and kamas has been using cameras from various buildings mosques schools and hospitals in kunas in Gaza in Rafa in all of the Palestinian villages and cities and that is why the IDF thought that the that the cameras that they saw were linked to kamas But I am saying it very clearly. That was not the intended outcome.
>> Medie, >> let Can I respond, Pier? Yeah. So, on this hospital attack, let's just be very clear here because so much so much gaslighting going on here. Uh, first of all, I'm old enough to remember October 2023 when the world went mad to suggest that Israel would ever attack a hospital. We were told for months Israel would never attack a hospital. Now, they proudly attack a hospital and try and justify it with nonsense justifications.
We attacked it because there was a Hamas camera on the roof. First of all, it wasn't a Hamas camera. It was a Reuters camera. Reuters already gave the Israeli military their positions. There were no Hamas cameras on the roof. It's a ridiculous new phase of Israeli propaganda to say it was a Hamas camera justified killing 20 people, which was insane. Okay, let me speak. If you stop interrupting, if you stop interrupting, then I'll deal with that. You already said it. You said many respond terrorist respond single answer on this show.
>> Let many respond.
>> Six Israel Hamas operatives were not killed. You claim they were killed. No evidence has been provided to the international media that there were six Hamas operatives there. In fact, the six photos that were released here, two of them were killed the day before. One of them was a well-known one of them was a well-known local firefighter who Israel had already dealt with, they were not six Hamas operatives who were killed in that strike. As for it being a mistake, how can it be a mistake when it was a double shut?
Am I going to get to speak on this show?
Jonathan, you're just going to let one person all the time. But I mean, if you're going to lie and you're going to expect me to accuse each other of lying all the time, then you can respond. The >> world can see that.
>> Jonathan, we're on Pierers Morgan. I get to speak. We're not in Gaza. You don't get to kill me as a journalist. I get to speak here and point out that the journalists were killed in the double tap strike. There's no way you can call that a live. He can't shut up, Kenny Pierce. the world. He cannot shut up and take money from the country.
>> I'm going to keep speaking and make my point. Like I said, >> all right, let me know, peers, when I can speak.
>> Jonathan, please let him respond >> cuz he won't shut up. I need to be able to make a point.
>> No one can understand operatives were not killed.
>> Medie, finish your point.
>> Six Hamas operatives were not killed.
Six Hamas I barely started it. Six Hamas operatives were not killed. Israel claims they were killed. It's been debunked. 20 people were killed, including five journalists. It couldn't have been a tragic mistake as Jonathan claims because it was a double tap strike. The Israeli media have reported that the Israeli military did it deliberately. In Israel in Hebrew, they're not saying it was accident. They said it was a coordinated attack. A double tap strike. How do you explain a second strike 9 minutes later? There is no mistake. It's what Boo Haram, ISIS, al-Qaeda do. It's deliberately to kill emergency responders. 972, an Israeli media organization says it is now standard procedure for the Israeli military to do double tap strikes. Last summer in Moasi, the New York Times has video of the Israelis doing a double tap strike on Palestinian paramedics. You know what Israel said at the time, Pierce? We will investigate this incident. Guess what? A year later, no investigation. No one was charged. No one was punished. They always say this to gullible interviewers in the West.
Well, we're investigating this mistake.
Not a single Israeli soldier has gone to prison for killing anyone in Gaza since October 2023. You'll remember, Pier, I said that to Alan Dersitz on your show.
I remain to be fact checked. It is true.
Nobody went to prison for killing 15 paramedics in April. Nobody went to prison for the Moasi double attack last summer. No one will go to prison for killing 20 people in this hospital.
Jonathan and his military love to do war crimes and no one holds them to account.
>> Jonathan, >> nonsense. Israeli officers have been given.
>> You said nonsense, Jonathan. Who's gone to prison? Ah, I was right. I said nonsense which is the person that comes from your mouth is either the person who's gone to prison.
Name the person who's gone to prison.
>> Yes. And he's not answering. Name the person who's gone to prison. You and Alan Dersitz cannot understand what he's saying who's gone to prison. Let me hear him say IDF soldiers. Yes, IDF soldiers have been disciplined and sent to military prison for misconduct and there are still open investigations. Not a single Israeli milary advocate has gone to prison for killing a Palestinian since October 2023 by the military advocate general about yes they have I don't I don't remember the name but I know anyone can Google it right now Jonathan kriquez is lying to you 15 Palestinians you can kill you can no one went to prison to make up news and and uh and spread those lines as much on YouTube Jonathan people can Google that you're lying know for a fact that Israeli soldiers investigation April 2025 complains about being interrupted. You don't like him when he interrupts you.
Let him speak. I am interrupting Jonathan your lies.
>> That's how it works. Jonathan, you're not in a position to journalist. You're a mouth for hire. You're a paid propaganda facte. The viewers are facteing. You are a mouth with no tethering in the world. You are a mouthpiece for Hamas and for money. Who are you to fact check anybody? April 2025. You are a paid paid mouth in a suit. Who are you to fact check anybody? April 25. You have no legal stand. April 202 maybe 20 years ago. Nobody can understand a word you guys are saying, right? You do realize that >> you who are you to fact check they can see what do you realize when you both talk at the same time nobody can hear either of you. You realize that right?
>> I mean we all understand you should have got him to >> everybody understands that when you both talk at once nobody hears you. So I don't understand why you can't just take >> you can both sides it you both find the others interrupting John the well you both hate the other one interrupting you then you both hate yourselves.
What are you trying for the show? Be honest.
>> Huh?
>> Pier, who did all the interrupting for the first half of this show? Be honest.
Everyone interruptions. You're right up there with Jonathan.
>> Now, you don't get to start at the end.
>> Well, you don't start at the end.
>> Even more than that, Miy.
>> Yeah. No, you're not reacting. You're You're instigating and you are a >> You just want to silence me like you silence every journalist in Gaza. You kill journalists to silence them. You can't handle You can't handle that. You represent Sharia.
>> You represent a hatred of Western society. Jonathan, let me ask you a question. Represent.
Let me ask you a question, Jonathan. Let me ask you a question, Jonathan.
>> I am Western. Let me ask Jonathan a question. Let me ask a question. Please.
Otherwise, I'll just stop it. It's pointless.
>> Jonathan, a waste of time.
>> Jonathan, I want to ask you questions.
>> I thought I was coming on to debate John Spencer. Not this uh not this ridiculous war criminal.
>> Yeah, you're ridiculous. Mei, a small man far away from action who represents nothing. I'm not a war criminal. You're the one who's in a military that's being investigated by the international court and the international court of justice.
Okay. A former part of a military that's being investigated the ICJ and the IC.
You were you were a Julius striker propagandist.
I don't know who to admit slander is.
>> I'm going to I'm going to leave it there and you you can carry on talking to each other. It's a bit pointless cuz no one can understand the word you're saying.
Uh I'm very >> Look, I'm going to be honest here. I always try to stay balanced when I watch debates and political exchanges like this, even if it's somebody I generally agree with. If I think they're wrong on something, I'll say it. I don't believe in blindly defending people just because they're on the side you support politically. But after watching this entire exchange, I genuinely think a huge part of this situation falling apart was the fault of and the way this debate was moderated. Because if you actually go back and watch the earlier parts of the conversation carefully, you can clearly see that was allowing the IDF spokesperson to speak. He was letting him finish points even when he strongly disagreed. But the second Medi started responding, suddenly the interruptions began. The constant talking over him. the personal jabs, the attempts to antagonize him instead of actually responding to the substance of what he was saying. And that's the part people keep noticing over and over again in these debates. Whenever the conversation starts moving into uncomfortable territory, suddenly the discussion stops being about the facts and starts becoming emotional, personal, and hostile. Because think about some of the comments that were made during this exchange. calling Mei a little man, telling him that if he improved his Arabic, he could become a spokesperson for Hamas. Now, look, people can interpret those comments however they want. But let's be real here, those remarks were clearly designed to provoke and intimidate rather than actually debate the points being raised. It completely shifted the conversation away from the actual allegations and into chaos. And this is where I think completely lost control of the discussion because at some point if you're moderating a debate and one side constantly interrupts while the other is trying to make a point, you have to step in properly. You can't just throw your hands up at the end and say, "Well, both sides are interrupting." That's the easy way out. That's the classic both sides approach that frustrates so many viewers because it avoids dealing with who actually escalated the situation in the first place. And honestly, this is why these debates become so frustrating to watch. Instead of getting clear answers, everything turns into noise. Everyone's talking over each other. Accusations are flying everywhere, and the actual substance gets buried underneath the chaos. But here's the thing that stood out to me the most. While this exchange was happening, I actually went and looked up the claims myself because I always think it's important not to just take anybody's word for it online. So, I searched the reports surrounding the killing of the 15 paramedics in Gaza back in 2025. And what I found was exactly why people like Medi Hassan continue to gain credibility in these debates. According to multiple reports and investigations, no IDF personnel were imprisoned over the incident. None.
Some officials reportedly faced internal disciplinary measures or dismissals from positions, but there were no criminal convictions or prison sentences connected to the case. And that right there is the core issue that keeps coming up in these discussions. Whether people agree or disagree politically, many viewers feel like there's a lack of accountability whenever incidents like this happen. That's the point Medi kept hammering home throughout the debate.
And it's also why the exchange became so heated because once somebody starts bringing up documented reports, investigations, timelines, and inconsistencies, the conversation becomes much harder to control through simple talking points. And that's why you saw the debate completely spiral toward the end. The more the discussion focused on specifics, the more emotional and personal the responses became. And look, people can disagree with Mahi Hassan politically all they want. That's completely fair. But one thing even his critics admit is that he comes prepared.
He researches topics heavily. He remembers details and he presses people directly on contradictions. That's why these exchanges go viral so often. Not because everybody agrees with him, but because he forces uncomfortable conversations that many mainstream interviews avoid. Meanwhile, a lot of viewers are becoming increasingly skeptical of official narratives in general. That's just the reality now.
People go online, they search things for themselves, they compare reports, they look at footage, they read investigations, and they come to their own conclusions. This isn't 20 years ago where audiences just accept whatever talking point is repeated on television.
And I think that frustration is exactly what exploded during this debate. You had one side trying to focus on documented incidents and accountability while the other side increasingly leaned into personal attacks and emotional reactions. Once that happens, the conversation usually collapses completely. At the end of the day, though, this exchange says a lot about the current political climate surrounding Gaza and the media coverage around it. Emotions are extremely high, accusations are constant, and every debate instantly turns into a battlefield. But for a lot of viewers watching at home, the biggest takeaway wasn't even the shouting. It was the feeling that people still aren't getting clear answers to very serious questions.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think about this entire exchange down below.
Do you think the debate was handled fairly? Do you think the moderator lost control of the conversation? And who do you think actually made the stronger case here?
