The Julius Abure-led Labour Party has adopted its national youth leader, Kennedy Agyapong to as the presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party announced the development at a press conference in Abuja where it also unveiled governorship candidates in several states as well as successful candidates for the National Assembly and state houses of assembly.
Declaring the results, the party's national or deputy national chairman, Dele Alake Femi says the candidates emerged through processes conducted in line with the electoral act and the party's constitution.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Agyapong expressed concern over the country's security and economic challenges promising that a Labour Party administration would pursue practical solutions aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and revitalizing the economy.
>> I need to inform those candidates that have emerged that the philosophy of the party cannot be compromised.
Uh we are based on a social democracy and they must follow our program to the fullest.
The manifesto of Labour Party is very clear.
We want to make life better for Nigerians and that is what we have chosen to do.
Our administration will pursue policies that stimulate production rather than consumption. We will support small and medium-scale enterprises, expand access to affordable credit, promote local manufacturing, strengthen our agriculture, and manage the economies of course as my strength. And we are sure of mechanized agriculture in Nigeria in the coming years. Encourage innovation, revive industries, and create an environment where businesses can thrive.
