New Cheap Palms At Home Bargains!Added:
I'm here today at Homebargains in Blackburn, Lancashire.
And I've come down for a few things and I'm going to have a look in the garden center and if there's anything worth sharing, then I'll finish this video and upload it to YouTube. So, if you're watching this, then there's obviously something worth seeing.
Anyway, let's go in and have a look.
Plenty of plants on trolleys here waiting to go outside.
These look quite interesting.
These geraniums, 129.
Quite a nice leafy foliage on that.
Something looks a little bit different and fits in very nicely, I think, with the tropical theme.
I can see some Trachycarpus down there, so we'll come back to those in a minute cuz I just want to start on the left and work my way around.
Some nice hibiscus plants here.
These are 6.99.
And let's have a little look.
Um yeah, it's described as winter hardy.
I don't have experience of growing these myself, but um certainly have a very interesting leaf shape.
And you can see the little buds there.
So, I'm pretty sure that would look rather nice. Let me know if you've got one of those.
Very interested in that.
Have a look down here.
So many bedding plants.
All right, okay, let's have a look at these Trachycarpus then. So, these are 29.99.
Hard to tell exactly what they're like cuz they're sort of tied up for transportation purposes, I assume.
Some of them have got decent trunks. A bit of a bit of variation in the trunks, as you can see there, which isn't great. That that palm probably isn't worth 30 quid.
This one definitely is.
And I think what they're doing here is trying to undercut B&M. B&M have Trachycarpus fortunei of a similar size to that one for £37.50.
So, they've gone cheaper. They've gone maybe slightly smaller.
Um but actually 30 quid's a quite nice price point, I think. So, you could pick one of those up. It's already got a bit of height to it.
That's a really good buy.
Got some of the yuccas here, as we've seen before.
Got some nice lupins, as well.
If you like a a lupin again, it's the leaf shape that I like about this.
Flowers are great for a spot of color.
Don't think the flowers are particularly tropical-looking, but certainly the leaf shape is, I believe.
This is described as a legendary mix, which I think means it's a completely random selection.
Got some more Trachycarpus here.
In fact, I think they've gone a bit mad on Trachycarpus. They've got They've got another um six on the right there, four on the left.
I make that 20 fortuneis that they've delivered had delivered in. That's if they haven't already sold any. Kind of looks like one or two might have gone missing from that section already.
Carry on looking round.
This is nice, these dahlias.
This is velvet crush £3.99.
I don't think these are hardy.
But they're really nice color to this flower.
I don't know if you can see that on the camera.
Lots more bedding plants. They've got some 10 packs here for £1.99.
We'll keep on looking. These are nice, these fuchsias.
£5.99 for these.
Again, a really nice vibrant color.
Um which is what I think makes it stand out as a or or what makes it suitable for tropical style.
Got some rhododendrons here. They've got a few in in store.
And these are £10, so a real good price point for for a plant, I think.
And then these are just some of some of the other yuccas.
I think this one was here last time.
It's it's actually flowered and someone's cut that off, but it's um it's not a perfect one that. I'm surprised that's not been marked down yet.
Just going to have a wander back through to these Trachycarpus.
And I've just seen some uh some nice looking flowers here as well. These are bedding plants. These are um what do you call them? Osteo- Osteospermum.
Osteospermum.
And um a daisy-like flower.
I always think they look really cool.
And I think someone once recommended these to me as a flower that or plant that keeps on flowering for much of the the the summer.
So we'll finish just looking at these Trachycarpus fortunei palm trees again.
So these if anyone's not familiar with these, these are completely hardy in the UK.
They grow them up in Scotland, they grow them pretty much everywhere.
The one thing you do need to watch out for is the leaves are a little bit delicate.
So you can imagine a strong wind going through that, it will rip some of the leaflets.
So you do really need a sheltered position, sheltered from wind.
I'd say temperature is not an issue, soil is not an issue. They like pretty much anything, very robust plant.
And that's it, just a very quick video today.
I thought that was worth sharing. I'd only popped in for some weed killer and a and a pencil case.
So I hope you enjoyed and thank you very much for watching. If indeed you still are.
