AI Is Finally Taking Over Social Media...

[00:00:00]Welcome back to my YouTube channel and today we are going to be introducing a new series. This is going to be called Tech Tuesday.

[00:00:06]So, the point of this series is I love tech and I want to maybe simplify some of the understandings behind tech cuz I know when you're reading specifications and stuff like that, you may not understand it and I can girly pop it for you because I am your best friend.

[00:00:18]Hello, your gay bestie here to save the day. So, the reason I wanted to start this video off with the Vision Pro on is because this was actually one of those products that was super tight everywhere. And it kind of really just missed the mark if you really think about it. This product was not only too expensive, but this is not realistic to be walking around with something like this all day long. That's why the Meta glasses did better. Even though the Meta glasses don't have the same tuck as this, but I wanted to start the series off with showcasing just some crazy cool that I have and I love tech in general. So before I start on the topic of today, I want you guys down below to comment some tech products that you may want me to review or may want some elaboration on in general. So today we are going to be talking about AI influencers. Recently there was a AI influencer that went super viral that even someone like myself didn't catch on to the fact that she was AI until I saw some of my mutuals talking about it. So her name is Amara the Goat. I'm going to put some stuff up here for you guys to see some of her posts. The one that really got me was she did a photo set with Kylie Jenner and I think it was Kendall at Coachella. And I liked the the post and some of my mutuals we even like followed her. So we were like, "Oh my god, this is crazy." Come to find out that she is actually a fully AI generated persona online. And why this is important to talk about is because AI in general is supposed to help us in our day-to-day lives and kind of simplify things for us. It's not supposed to take over. This is why there are certain precautions and things that are in place to ensure that like that doesn't happen.

[00:01:37]Now with the evolution of tech, there's always some crazy that can happen.

[00:01:40]Let's be real. But in general, the premise of her account is Instagram has like a back channel that if you upload an AI generated photo or AI generated content, it will immediately tell you, "Oh, this was AI generated." What I'm assuming is they kind of de- encrypted it or did something to not have the platform understand that it was AI and she amassed almost 200,000 followers.

[00:02:00]And something like this is super devastating to the social industry in general. Just kind of like how when AI is taking over any space really. And with her in specific, there are people that were in her comment sections, I'll put it up here, where they were like, "She's beautiful. This is unreal beauty.

[00:02:16]Love it. Oh my god, wish I looked like you." That is exactly the problem because people are comparing themselves to AI generated perfection. With AI influencers on the rise, the reason that this is so interesting to unpack is because there's always been this thing called the dead internet theory. Now, I don't know if you guys are aware of it, but cliffnotes version, there's basically a theory that about 30 to 60% of the internet is literally just bots and computers that have a command chain and prompts and that's how they're interacting on social media as one of us. But now with AI, they have almost become human, which is like the whole iroot thing where it's like, oh my god, like they're taking over. No, but literally because with the dead internet theory, they can leave like a random comment that's like a prompt and like they can like a post, but it's a fake account or whatever. But with this AI influencer in specific, why this is so interesting is not only did someone like me that loves tech not clock it, but a lot of people that I know did not notice that this was a AI influencer, but then when I actually went and scrolled after seeing a video about her being an AI influencer, it was like clearly there.

[00:03:15]You can see some of the parts that were definitely manufactured. AI and the dead internet theory has been infiltrating mainstream media at a increasingly high rate. And that just causes concern because then you have people that can't detect AI or that aren't thinking about it like myself. And I'm like, "Oh my god, she's so pretty. I love her outfit.

[00:03:33]I love this. I love that." Little did I know, it's all AI generated. Now to add more context on how Amara even amassed the such a huge following and was able to basically hinder the public's ability to even think that she was AI generated.

[00:03:46]Not only did Amara pick a very very huge event like Coachella to really really pop, but essentially what Amara did was place herself strategically with celebrities that are constantly being talked about at this event like Coachella and then basically riding the wave of the fame. Now, the concern here obviously is if someone like myself and someone like yourself couldn't have depicted whether it was an AI generated influencer or a real influencer, she could have really went on she lol. The computer could have literally been online and said pretty much anything.

[00:04:16]And there is nothing hindering this computer from being in trouble because how are you going to hold a computer responsible for these actions if I'm assuming there's no way to trace it back to whoever is doing it? That is in general why there's a huge concern with AI overall is it's not only about it beautifying your face or fixing your background. It's much broader. Like the more growth that sparks through AI, it causes this dead internet theory to become much larger and forward- facing than it was before. But now it's like you don't know what to believe and you have to second guess it. So, that's a huge cause for concern on any level, regardless of it's a automated level or a full-fledged person on the internet.

[00:04:56]It's a huge cause for concern. All right, so I know you're probably hearing me ramble and you're probably assuming like, "Oh my gosh, like what are we going to do and how can I protect myself?" And I'm going to be really honest with you. This is not me scaring you. It's just the truth. You can't really protect yourself against things that you cannot understand or comprehend. For example, if you cannot decipher whether something is AI or not, even sometimes I can't. there isn't really a way for us to protect oursel. I think that the knowledge around AI and people not wanting to learn more about tech is the only thing that is hindering you from protecting yourself because tech is only going to get more advanced.

[00:05:32]You know, like we we love the newest phone, we love the Instagram updates, we love the Tik Tok update, we love all of these other things, but those are just tiny little blips in the actual tech world. Things like cars driving themselves, your airplane for example, being on autopilot when you're in it and you don't even realize, robots being in restaurants, robots helping in general when you don't want to learn about tech.

[00:05:55]This is the really the only thing that's hindering you from protecting yourself.

[00:05:58]You need to make sure that you kind of make it a little bit of a point to learn about tech. Now, I only say this because I love you and I have your back, but you can't protect yourself from things that you don't know. So, even myself, I didn't realize that this was an AI influencer. And I fully engaged. And then when I came to find out that it was an AI influencer, it was kind of crazy.

[00:06:15]They're using trends that an influencer like myself would do. They're using photos. They're using products. They're trying to get brand deals. And the thing is is they can like it's super scary to talk about it like that, but it's the same way AI can infiltrate really any space if you allow it to. It can get a brand partner if it's doing well and has great engagement and is working with the brand. Now, brands getting backlash from working with AI and people getting upset about it. Let's be real, guys. That doesn't actually stop a brand from using AI. Like, it's one of those things that it is just kind of out there and people are constantly using it, including these brands. So, it is kind of just concerning that I can't find a way for you to protect yourself. Now, I'm going to teach you some tips and tricks on how you can tell if something is AI generated like a photo or if a whole entire persona is being AI generated.

[00:07:01]Step one, attention to detail. AI is not at the point yet where it can fully have attention to detail. So, for example, the way that I was able to find out that Amara the goat was AI generated, aside from the videos that people were talking about her being AI generated, was my assistant was looking at a post that she did on in a bathtub where she was like, I love diesel. Well, when you zoom into the diesel jeans, the wording is all up. So, it's not actually literally diesel. It is fully AI generated. Now, if a photo is AI generated, you can kind of zoom in and you will be able to see certain specifications. So, for example, we're going to panel this camera over and I want you guys to look at these books.

[00:07:36]You can actually read what is on the book. You can screenshot this and you can zoom in and you can read word for word what's on the book. It is attention to detail. It is correct. AI is not at the point yet where it can go ahead and fully manufacture something like that on a larger scale. So, if I'm standing where you are right now and I'm standing up, I'll actually do this for demonstration purposes. Let's switch places. You can see the books behind me.

[00:07:59]AI will not be able to specifically do every single one of these books down to the messed up little nooks and crannies, down to all the little imperfections and the scratches. It's not going to be able to do that. It is going to try to make it look perfect and real life is not perfect. So, that is the first way that you can identify if something is AI generated. Another really good way that you can tell if something is AI generated, if you are zooming into a photo set and you see something blurred or you see something kind of foggy, unless it has a grain filter over it, nine times out of 10 it is probably AI generated because if it's randomly blurred on one corner of someone's body, then that is not real. Cameras do not get that random blur. Cameras will kind of get like a shaky blur, but if everything looks perfect and there's just a little bit of blur, you'll be able to tell. Another way that you can tell is pronunciation of words. like the way that my mouth is moving and the way that I'm talking. When you are watching AI generated things, pay attention to their mouth. If you think something is AI generated, look at their mouth. Nine times out of 10, their mouth is not syncing up with the lyrics or they're talking but their teeth are like this.

[00:08:58]So, how are you talking? Your teeth are like this. They're not actually speaking. These are just some of the key ways that you can protect yourself from like honestly consuming AI content. Now, there's going to be AI content like the AI Fruit Love Island that honestly even I kind of liked in the beginning, but then they kind of lose the plot a little bit. The reason they lose the plot is because they are not humans. So, they cannot generate the things that we see on TV from actual Love Island versus Fruit Love Island, which I'll put right here for you to see. This is fully text to prompt. There's only so much that they're going to be able to generate versus actual human interaction, human outburst, and getting upset. The pronunciation of things, and just in general, it is not there yet. Now, can it be there in the future? 100%. It's probably going to be there. But as of right now, those are ways that you can tell if something is AI generated.

[00:09:43]Platforms are working strongly against AI generated content. Platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, they are avidly demonetizing and trying to ban fully AI generated things. But the thing is is just like the dead internet theory, if theoretically 30 to 60% of the internet is dead, that is really difficult for a platform to detect every single thing that is AI generated. though someone like Amara the goat amassed almost over 200,000 followers before anybody even found out that she was AI generated and now that they found out she's AI generated her account has been removed now Amara the goat is the blueprint possibly but she is not going to be the last AI generated influencer and you will be seeing a lot more that are harder to detect but they are going to kind of use the same formula they're going to copy other creators they are going to grab public figures that are wellknown and that are well established like for example the Kylie Jenners, the Drakes, all of those people. They are going to use that and then they're also going to use influencers in general and that is how they are going to drive engagement up to get you to pay attention to them. So, it's really important that you don't fall for their And if you're randomly seeing an influencer that you've never heard of before all of the sudden is hanging out with every single A-listister that you've ever seen in your life, there's a smidge chance that that is fake because I was at Coachella and I was in the artist compound and I didn't just stroll past Kylie Jenner or Drake or Justin Bieber. Like these are this is not people that you're going to meet in walking or in passing. And their backgrounds are overly perfected. So just keep in mind overly perfected content and overly perfected backgrounds. It It's not real. It's not real. Even someone like me, I'm using a mic. I'm going to have my background, but the camera can only do so much. I can blur the camera out while doing this. A AI generated influencer when they're doing this. Like Amara the goat, she did this video dun dun. She wasn't even on beat cuz I don't think that she knows how to compute it as fast as us.

[00:11:34]So, those are kind of some things that you'll notice with AI influencers. So, honestly, my genuine thoughts of this is it's not going anywhere. It's going to just get better and better over time. a creator like myself. I'm more of a talkative creator. I'm kind of like moving around and about and doing all that stuff. But I do think that things like this are just going to progress. We have noticed a lot of tech evolution. AI is kind of infiltrating everything, babe. Like it's it's infiltrating everything and it's constantly being used on a day-to-day basis. If you are using a search engine, it is being run through AI to figure out what you want.

[00:12:06]Now, with that being said, AI is supposed to help people, not hurt people or take their jobs away. it was meant for that. Unfortunately, people will use it to try to replace humans. But if we've learned anything about technology, it does kind of need humans to function.

[00:12:22]So, as someone who loves tech like myself, but I think there should be stricter guidelines that make AI helpful, not replacing. And I think that that's something that I believe some people are trying to work on right now.

[00:12:34]Uh they're trying to like put stricter guidelines on AI. Tech cannot function without us.

[00:12:40]We're the figureheads, babe. They they can't make the funny without someone going and writing a script for them. They don't know how to do it. But the more they learn about us, the more they will learn how to do this. But this is where stricter laws and things just need to be put in place. And it is kind of unfortunate cuz I really do love tech. But there is like a gray area when tech is used to replace any field instead of just enhancing your performance in said field. Now for the lovely outro of this video, I have a real background of San Francisco. I know when I had the Vision Pro on, it kind of looked like a little AI. It looked very VR, virtual reality, but this is very much real. So, go outside, touch grass, and don't consume too much that isn't real, cuz you'll probably forget what reality is.
