But recently a [music] brand new arrival has completely changed the landscape of the troop. Today we are going to watch exactly [music] how primate society adjusts to a new infant and how Punch [music] Koon is navigating his sudden transition from the baby of the family to an older brother figure.

Here we see an amazing developmental leap. Punch Koon is [music] learning how to groom properly. In macaque society, grooming is the ultimate [music] social currency.

[00:02:00]It is not just about cleaning dirt. It is about building alliances. For months Punch Koon [music] was a spoiled baby who only received grooming. Now, by practicing reciprocal allo grooming, [music] he is learning how to give back.

With a new baby [music] stealing the spotlight, you might worry that Punch Koon is losing his special rank. But you do [music] not need to worry because the most powerful monkey in the enclosure is still watching over him.
