When judicial rulings strike down democratic redistricting maps, political parties can still achieve victory through strategic voting, high turnout, and focusing on competitive districts where margins are narrow, as demonstrated by the Virginia Supreme Court's ruling that invalidated the people's choice while still leaving approximately 26 seats that Democrats could realistically flip in the 2026 election.

How We Can Still Win AFTER Virginia Lost Their New MapAdded:
I'm blaming the Virginia Supreme Court for this. And no, I don't care if I had it the day before this ruling.
Apparently, my forehead is psychic. All jokes aside, this was not a good day for the Democrats, at least when it comes to the redistricting efforts. Four seats is a lot of seats. And even though the voters voted to adopt the new maps, it is clear that the judicial system is helping the Republicans at this point when it comes to the redistricting battle. And the Democrats are not being bold enough in places like Chicago and Maryland in order to actually win the redistricting fight. They have been discussing him and Han, but they haven't actually been putting any action into place to get things rolling for the election in 2026. Now, with this ruling today, that could change. There is a new map passed by the House in Maryland that is sitting stalled in the Senate with the new ruling today saying that Virginia cannot use those maps. Maryland Senate could just put their butt in gear and pass their new map. Illinois still has a chance to pass their map, but the Democratic leadership up there has also been very hesitant to do so. New York is looking like it is out of the game because they have waited so late to pass their maps, mostly because of the difficulty that it would take. So, it won't be ready in time by the 2026 election. So, backing up what happened, the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the map that was voted on by the people, 1.1 million people, by the way, because it said that the process that they used violated the state's constitution. They did not follow the strict timeline that they should have followed in order to successfully pass that map by rewriting a constitutional amendment. The amendment should have been passed in two separate sessions. It doesn't look like they succeeded in passing it through two separate sessions because one of the sessions was during an early voting period in 2025, which apparently they were not allowed to do. The Supreme Court also cited that they failed to provide that 90-day buffer before the referendum was introduced to the people.
Because they did not provide that 90-day buffer, that also violated the state's constitution when it comes to how the constitutional amendment was overturned.
Because of that, they could not use the map that the people voted on during this election. Now, that does not mean that they can't change the maps for 2028. It can and they most likely will. They are thinking the same thing for New York.
Even though it looks like they are running out of time to change their maps for 2026, they are certainly going to change them in 2028. By that time, Maryland and Illinois may finally decide what they want to do as well. So, where does that leave us for 2026 then? Well, Republicans who are openly changing their maps based on partisan gerrymandering, which apparently that is just fine with the Supreme Court, they have already changed their maps in Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, and I believe they have already changed it in Florida, gaining seats on paper. Five seats in Texas, four seats in Florida, and one or two seats in both North Carolina and Missouri. Now, after the Scotas decision, pretty much gunning section two of the Voting Rights Act, they are going fullon white supremacists in the southern states in Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.
They are gunning for specifically black districts. Why? Because it is so much harder to argue against them targeting black districts. So, they are free to target black districts in order to dilute their vote. But it is no longer legal to make the argument that they are targeting black districts.
Yes, make that make sense. So if they were to succeed in doing all of that, it seems as if they may have a net gain of about 13 to 19 seats. Now again, because of this, it is very possible for places like Oregon or Illinois or New York or Maryland to do emergency measures to change their maps with some Democrats coming out and saying what I said in a video that I did last year on this topic when they first started changing the maps in Texas. I said in that video that the Democrats needed to stop fucking around and take every single seat available to them. Had they did what I said when I said it, we wouldn't be in this mess. But y'all know optics. So, here we are. But there is because of this changing political climate and the fact that they have now lost Virginia that might actually put their butts in gears in these other states to do what they need to do. But even if they don't, and let's just assume because we are talking about the Democrats here, that they don't, let's assume that the Republicans actually do win this redistricting war and they gerrymander the absolute hail out of the South. They are still not guaranteed at all to win the seats that they have tried to guarantee for themselves. Since the start of 2025, almost every single special election has swung toward the Democrats. And I'm not talking just a few measly points. I'm talking double-digit swings. Even in places where Republicans still won, there was at least a double-digit swing in the other direction. Now take that into account as you realize that places like Texas and Florida, which were already super heavy gerrymandered and are now their flagship states with nine seats respectively, they have now made their safe red districts a lot more purple by putting in minorities mixed in with their people. And most of the minorities that they are using for this are the Hispanic and Latino minority group. What exactly is happening to the Hispanic and Latino people right now with 78,000 people kidnapped off the street and put in detention centers where they live in horrible conditions. And all of those black districts, they have to go somewhere. They're going to vote somewhere. And black people are the most reliable voting block that there is. So they have made, especially in those flagship states, they have made those safe districts that they had way more purple and winnable for the Democrats, especially at a time where there are double-digit swings in the opposite direction. Just this week, there was a mayoral election in Texas in a suburb south of Houston. Even though that mayoral election is supposed to be nonpartisan, the Democrats and Republicans back their person. And historically, like 1960s, historically, the Republicans have always won that mayoral race since like the 1960s.
This week, a black man backed by the Democrats won that mayoral race for the first time ever. first black man to ever do it in a mayoral race that was supposed to be safe. This keeps happening in places like Florida, in places like Texas, in special election after special election. The voters are saying that these safe districts are not safe. So what is the path forward? At this point, the Democrats have the ability to swing these votes, even with the redistricting, which might have even made it easier for them to swing the vote because they already have some of the voters that were taken and spread to other districts, making them more purple, or at least a little less safe.
And one more thing about that mayoral race, the Republicans once again tried to cheat. They cut two of the early voting days that were supposed to be there and they made early voting times only during the work hours from 8:00 to 5:00 trying to ensure that people wouldn't be able to make it to early vote because they had to work. But even with that, there was record turnout.
Texas, for one, is largely considered a non- voting state with only about 3 to 5% of the people actually making the decisions for everyone else. And I get it. It's gerrymandered half to hell. So most people think that even if they do vote, it's not going to do anything.
This is a part of the psychological warfare that has been waged on the people. When they are convinced that their vote doesn't matter and they just willingly give up their power, this is how the Republican party, who has policies that are not popular at all with the people, are able to stay in power. They understand how much your vote matters. So it is up to the people to understand how much their vote matters. And when there is record turnout, things change. When people make sure that their voices are heard, people actually start to listen. So what should the strategy be for Democrats going forward? Making a hard push for any district that is in play that Bone Spurs won by 13 points or less. Again, we cannot depend on the Democrats to win the redistricting fight. And it's not even that the Democrats aren't trying.
It's that the courts are on the other side. While they are allowing rampid racial gerrymandering in the south, they are striking down Democraticbased gerrymandering in the north and in the middle considering Virginia. But even with that, there are about 19 seats that are in play where Republicans and Bone Spurs won in 2024 by 13 points or less.
seats that Democrats can legitimately pick up based on the margins that they have been gaining throughout this entire year and change. On top of that, there are about seven seats that can be gained from all of the Republican retirees.
Considering these seats being ones that were won in districts that were 10 points or less, that's about 26 seats that can be flipped by Democrats. And these are in places like Pennsylvania, Arizona, Ohio, Maine, things like that.
And when it comes to the Senate, Maine and North Carolina are going to be really important pickup states there.
So, home state, get it together. I'm looking at you, North Carolina. Get Cooper in the Senate. So, yes, there are about 26 seats that the Democrats could realistically pick up. Even with the 13 plus seats that the Republicans are trying to derrymander in their favor, the prediction markets are still giving Democrats a 76.5% chance of winning back the House because the truth of the matter is the Republicans only have redistricting the maps to win this election. It's not like they can run on the kitchen table issues that Democrats can and should run on.
They can't run on affordability. And for the first time since Obama, people are trusting the Democrats more with the economy, which they should have been doing anyway. But better late than never, I guess. But Republicans are not even having town halls because they cannot justify doing all the things that they have done to hurt people. They cannot justify introducing bills to put Bones's name on airports and his face on the $250 bill while people cannot pay for food. They cannot run on what they did in the big nots so beautiful bill which they are trying to change the name of because people realize that that was just a $4.5 trillion tax cut for the rich while also taking away the social programs that are necessary for people to live. They can't even run on that. So they have to focus on rebranding instead. Agriculture is going down.
Manufacturing is going down and now the airlines are suffering because fuel cost is going up. Energy prices in places like West Virginia are skyrocketing right now being three times more than their actual mortgage for energy because they run on coal instead of renewable energies. And the Bone Spurs administration just put $1.3 billion dollars back into coal instead of renewable energies, hurting our environment, costing us more money. It's not like the Republicans can run on anything other than racism, bigotry, and fear. At this point, they can't even run on being Christians anymore because thou shalt put no other god before me as they are praising a picture of bone spurs as Jesus. Tell me you didn't read your book without telling me you didn't read your book. So for anybody who is disheartened by the news of the Virginia Supreme Court's judgment today, don't be. Get pissed. Get motivated because there is still a clear path to victory if the candidates running in those areas are strong. If they have a strong economic message, the affordability message is going to be the key message right now.
The kitchen table issues are going to be the message right now. Yes, there is corruption. Yes, Bones needs to go to jail. And yes, when the Democrats get back the House and hopefully the Senate, they need to start hitting the ground running with those investigations. But in all honesty and logically, that is not what they should be running on. So, the left, listen, please, for fuck's sake, do not do a protest vote at this moment in time. You already have Apac doing psychological warfare because they know it works on the left. They're coming out with ads of Democrats talking about how awesome it is to work with Apac. Let us be clear, Apac does not want the Democrats in office. They do not want the Democrats to take over the House and Senate. This is a trick because they know it works on the left and they are using your feelings towards Apac to make you vote for your demise again. Do not do them that service.
Getting money out of politics, getting Apac out of the pockets of our politicians is definitely the goal. Yes, but you cannot do that if you keep allowing Republicans to take office.
Republicans that take more Apac money than literally any Democrat there is.
This is a situation of strategy and logical critical thinking. We do need to get rid of people like Hakee Jeff and Chuck Schumer. I 100% agree with you that we should stop electing people that take Apac money. Taler Rico. However, a protest vote at this point is not going to be helpful. And that is exactly what Apac wants. So if you see that ad, if you guys know what I'm talking about, put it down in the comments. If you see that ad with them having all these Democrats who are currently running talking about how awesome it is to be a part of Apac, it is psychological warfare. The truth of the matter is even a Democrat that takes Apac money is better than a Republican that doesn't.
It is going to be a systematic process through the primaries to get rid of people who take Apac money. It is not going to be helpful to blow up the system during a general election. I love y'all to death, but you have got to stop doing that for fuck's sake. Even with the redistricting battle on paper seeming to be lost to the Democrats, the Democrats still have a way forward. If we can all unite, get out the vote, get turnout in every single district, and blow up the system that way, continue to check your voter registration. Look for them to purge the rolls right before, because they always do. Know exactly where your polling place is and vote as early as humanly possible. Act like the first day of early voting is the actual election day. When I tell you this country has one more chance to save itself, that is not hyperbole. And we can do it if we stay united. We can do it if we are thinking logically. We can do it if you use your vote strategically and grab a friend that you know has never voted before and get their ass to the polls. All is not lost. There is so much working against the Republicans right now, which is why they are in a frenzy trying to do whatever they can do with these maps. They don't understand the situation that they are in. This is their doom spiral. Let's make sure they hit rock bottom and don't get back up.
