Even our Mexican brothers and sisters have joined the white and proud group. Yeah.

You are not going to be making pages talking about other races of people and thinking we not going to come and sit down and have a good old time. I already joined [laughter] and they are not happy about us being in there. They are really upset. But the damn admin left this [ __ ] open. She not checking people at the door. [laughter] So go ahead and overflow that. Making me a multi-racial. I love being everything but white in this. One thing I do love is ruining a racist day. [00:03:27]What did Columbus wear in his first colonizing trip?" My girl Carol said, "I got in. Look like it's open borders up in here." Bendos.

[00:03:34]Our sister went live in the white and proud group and it was a lot of people that tuned in.

[00:03:42]There's a white and proud Facebook group [laughter] that is currently being taken over by black people. [laughter] Somehow we found the group and now people are mad because they're [laughter] all the white people are like, "Why are there so many black people?"

[00:04:00]>> Y'all y'all the clip circulating today is, and I want to say this plainly, hilarious. A white and proud Facebook group, a whole online clubhouse dedicated to a certain kind of pride, got quietly joined one by one by black folks until one day the group looked up and realized the meeting had been peacefully, joyfully, and completely taken over. Memes, jokes, fake testimonials, grandma recipes, the whole thing turned into a comedy show. And before you laugh and scroll on, come right back because what you just watched is not random mischief. It is one of the oldest and most refined art forms the community has ever produced. The community did not just win that group.

[00:04:46]The community outwitted it in a tradition 400 years deep. Before we get into it, hit that like button, hit subscribe, tap the bell. Now, let me lay the receipts because using wit to disarm hate is not a new trick. It is a documented cultural weapon and the community forged it under the hardest conditions imaginable. Receipt number one, the trickster. Across West Africa long before the crossing, the community carried the figure of a Nazi, the spider, the small, clever one who defeats the big and powerful, not with strength, but with wit. On this soil, a Nazi became Breer Rabbit, the trickster who outsmarts the fox and the bear every single time. Dr. Henry Lewis Gates Jr.

[00:05:29]documented this tradition in his book, The Signifying Monkey. The Trickster was not a children's story. The trickster was a survival manual, teaching that when you cannot beat the powerful with force, you beat them with mind. Receipt number two, the dozens and signifying.

[00:05:45]The community developed an entire verbal art form, the playing of the dozens, [music] the trading of clever insults, the practice of signifying, of saying a thing sideways so sharp that the target cannot even catch it until later. This is documented in the scholarship as one of the foundations of American verbal culture. It trained generations in the art of the comeback, the art of turning an attack into a punchline, the art of winning the exchange without ever raising a hand. Receipt number three, the comedians who weaponized it. Dick Gregory walked onto white nightclub stages in the early 1960s and disarmed hostile rooms with jokes so sharp the hecklers ended up laughing at themselves. Richard Prior turned the deepest pain of the American racial story into comedy that made the whole country look in the mirror. Dr. Gregory used to say that he could say things in a joke that would have gotten him arrested in a speech. The joke was the delivery system for the truth. The [music] laugh was the Trojan horse. So when black folks quietly joined a white and proud group and turned it into a comedy show, they were not being petty.

[00:06:48]They were deploying a 400-year-old technology. They took a space built on hate and instead of meeting it with hate [music] which would have fed it, they met it with humor which starved it. You cannot maintain menace while everyone is laughing. Comedy is oxygen deprivation for hate. The community has known that since a Nazi [laughter] I can't breathe. So, we're going to we're going to start with this bad boy.

[00:07:14]Somebody said the blacks have infiltrated this group. We can't have [ __ ] Somebody said, "First time, get it going." [laughter] Which then, of course, black man follows up with this post. And then, of course, we get this pose where somebody's like, "If you aren't white, you need to leave this group. Don't y'all know you how to read or whatever." And then this white lady, uh, Mandy, our ally, said, "Uh, I've invited them." [laughter] Then we got some more responses. We just invading spaces that nobody wants us at.

[00:07:43]Sound familiar? And we got this and And THEN [laughter] WAIT, I forgot the best part.

[00:07:56][clears throat] [laughter] They they realized they were being infiltrated, so they made it to where you have to fill out a form in order to join the group. These are the questions.

[00:08:06]Are you white? Are you proud of your heritage? Are you proud of your culture?

[00:08:42]Yeah, this Facebook group I think it's called White and Proud or Proud to be white or something like that, right? And my people done found out about it.

[00:08:51][snorts] My people done went over to Facebook and infiltrated the group and have taken over the group. [laughter] They have taken over the group and my people are over in there antagonizing them racist white people. They are over there cutting up a fool over there in that group. And I finally finally went on over there and joined the group so I could see what's going on. Child, I had to let me show you what I had to answer questions in order to join the group.

[00:09:25]Here are the questions. And the name of the group is White and Proud. The first question is, "Are you white?" I responded and said, "Nope." "Are you proud of your heritage?" I responded and said, "Yes."

[00:09:37]And the last question is, "Are you proud of your culture?" I responded and said yes.

[00:09:45]And then it goes in into this, I agree with the group with [music] the group rules. And it says, "Keep it white.

[00:09:52]Darker skinned individuals, please make your own page. Please leave. Can't you do anything for yourselves?

[00:10:00]And I click submit and I'm in the group, but I can't really post anything until they approve my membership.

[00:10:12]But there's thousands of other black people that have been approved and they are having a time. Do you hear me?

[00:10:22][laughter] Some woman or some white person posted this. I bet black women wish their hair was as long as beautiful white queens.

[00:10:32]Ashley, a brown woman, a black woman says, "Nah, y'all hear stink after y'all wash it.

[00:10:41]They are in there acting a fool." Glenn posted, "Why are black people in this group?" Tania responded and said, "Because segregation ended in the 60s."

[00:10:54]And then Leah responded and said, "We doing this [ __ ] for our ancestors, boy."

[00:10:59]And then the brother came back and made a post that said, "Why so many white people in this group, [laughter] [laughter] baby, I've been over in that group cracking up at my people. I'm just [snorts] over there to be nosy. But I did decide that if they do let me in, I'mma go on over there and educate the poorly educated. That's what I'mma do.

[00:11:23]I'mma sure enough post my political videos in that group. They need to be educated. Ain't no reason for them to be walking around being this dumb. I'm going to do my part. [laughter] Y'all, it's this group.

[00:12:31]And it's like at one time 80 black people round the clock commenting at the same time. And somebody was like, "Look at me. I'm the admin now, [laughter] y'all. They changing their their profile pictures to random white people.

[00:12:47][laughter] Oh my gosh. You know what? I don't care one thing about us. We going to have a good laugh, baby. They they over there having a good time. And I know it's already a keyboard warrior time val what what if we came over the black spaces.

[00:13:16]>> Black people taking over the white and proud Facebook group is exactly the kind of news I was looking for leading up to the fourth. [laughter] I seen some of the videos with the comments. Yo, we got them people angry.

[00:13:30][laughter] My favorite one was, "Is this your first time being colonized?"

[00:13:38][laughter] I love it, man. And you know what?

[00:13:43]That's a great lesson. Am I right? It's a great lesson. Y'all don't like the fact that you created a space where you felt like you weren't bothering anybody and y'all could just celebrate each other. Then all of a sudden, a bunch of people that don't look like you, that don't live near you, that don't have nothing to do with anything that y'all talking about invades your space. And not only do they invade your space, they start making you feel unwelcome. I love this moment in American history. This is a wonderful social experiment and I feel like the results could not be better.

[00:14:19][laughter] Now, we know these people will never understand the allegory. You know what I mean? Because for the most part, a lot of them are have no media literacy whatsoever. But black people, let me [laughter] let me say something. We don't miss. All right. [laughter] >> Man, this joint took me out. This is hilarious. So, a Facebook group named White and Proud has been infiltrated by the black community and it is probably some of the funniest content you are going to see all across socials for this entire weekend. Now, it all started because right here we had this dude was like, "Yo, why are black people in this group?" And just from that alone, the comments on there have been ridiculous.

[00:15:06]You need to go in there, type in, why are black people in this group or the white and proud group. just go through it and have yourself a time. Now, being completely upfront, you're going to have to deal with a couple comments that may not be considered savory. But when you scroll right past that, you get posts like this that had me dying all morning long. How much is going to turn this white only group into a black people group?

[00:15:37]This has been one of the funniest things I have seen in terms of the comments.

[00:15:40]It's just crazy what we do as a people, man. Happy 4th.

[00:15:44]>> There is an all-white white white power, white supremacist group over on Facebook that black people have infiltrated and they are all in the comments and they have taken over the page. And that's the kind of energy I like to see on this Fourth of July weekend. The group is called White and Proud. Anybody, I guess, can join. And Glenn was very disturbed and concerned asking why are black people in this group? And of course, the comments did not disappoint.

[00:16:11]We discovered it like Christopher Columbus did. I know he hate he made this post. I'm loving this. Been here for five whole minutes. This is my type of carrying on. Why are there even white people in the group? Because segregation ended in the 60s. Need something to laugh at. And the comments go on and on and on and on and on. If you want a really good laugh on this Friday, take a look at this group and take a look at this post and these comments.

There's a Facebook page called White and Proud and one of the posts says, "Why are black people in this group?" And the amount of comments that happened were so much, this is me screen recording in real time, were so much that it looks like a [ __ ] live feed.

[00:17:22]It is still going on like this right now. Black people just destroyed this entire page and I am so proud. So, this is happening in real time right now.

In 24 hours, the black folks went and took over their group. Now they don't went and made another group. So we had to go start another group cuz these [ __ ] came on here and took over. That's what we do. It's so funny.

[00:18:48][laughter] I was on Facebook about an hour just crying, reading those comments. Y'all go over there to Facebook Boulevard and go to the group White and Proud. It is hilarious, y'all. Black people, we rude.

[00:19:04]>> Just love my black people. Black people on Facebook then took over this group called White and Proud. And that group is full of racist white people. Now black people is all up and down. Every time you scroll, you see a black person in the group. The white people in the group is mad now. They posting pictures of watermelons and monkeys and gorillas and different things like that to get the black people to leave. But the black people is still in there. Now, when I saw it, it was about 70,000 people in the group. Now, it's at over 100,000 people in the group. And most of the people that just joined is black. So, what y'all gonna do? The moderator, they going to have to delete the whole Facebook group chat cuz I'm pretty sure they not about to go up and down and basically block every black person who joined the group.

[00:19:54]Y'all thought y'all was going to get away with that white and proud group. I don't know where black person found it, but thank you to the one they did. And I'm still scrolling on it after this video to see what's going on on there.

[00:20:07]Y'all, I just love black people. The highlight of my day was seeing how black people infiltrated a white and proud group on Facebook just before the Fourth of July weekend. This has to be some form of poetry. So, let me break down what happened for y'all. So, it's this group on Facebook again called White and Proud. And this is the thing. It's a group where white people are in there doing what they do, creating downright disrespectful memes, being racist like they tend to do. So, the only issue with that is they created this group and they didn't make it private. It's public. I signed up myself just to see what they have going on in there. They literally have three questions asking, "Are you white? Are you proud of your culture?

[00:20:52]What culture? I'm not sure, but whatever. And one more thing. And literally boom, got in just like that.

[00:20:58]So anyway, black Facebook [music] seen this and saying, "Oh, this must be a community event." Now the group is full of black people posting jokes, memes, fake colonizing announcements, and reminders that racism doesn't become respectable just because somebody puts a heart over the word white. See, this is what happens when people build their entire identity around exclusion, then leave the front door unlocked. See, they wanted a safe space to celebrate being white, so to speak. [music] But instead of them being in there talking about their family and culture, food traditions, or anything that's actually meaningful, the group quickly became a place where people were posting again stereotypes, disrespectful images, and even asking why black people were there infiltrating.

[00:21:46]I love black Facebook, y'all, because they gave them exactly the response that made sense. Next time, white Facebook, if you want to be quote unquote white and proud, make sure you're not idiotic enough to leave your stuff open, make it private.

[laughter] >> [gasps] >> Somebody posted, "Why are there so many white people in here?" And somebody replied in the comments like, "Right, the audacity." [laughter] My YouTube was black.

[00:23:53][laughter] The thing is, yeah, we don't care if you're white and proud. Be white and proud. I'M BLACK AND PROUD. YEAH. But what we want to be in there for is for the racist work colleague that we might spot that my little p little comment.

We aren't out here wanting to do the stuff that was done to our ancestors to y'all. Are you serious? We're just out here trying to live and have a good time. [00:25:14]They just made it absurd. They made the pride look silly. And silliness is the one thing that kind of pride cannot survive. Because that kind of pride runs entirely on being taken seriously. The moment the room is laughing, the fear the group was selling has no customers.

[00:25:30]And here is where the hypocrisy fall out. Not this. Not the same tradition that mocked black humor as unserious.

[00:25:37]now unable to explain why black comedy became the engine of American entertainment. Not that. Not the same spaces built to feel powerful, now undone by a few well-placed jokes and a fake grandma recipe. Not this. Not the same folks who wanted a room where they could be menacing now discovering the room got funnier than they could handle.

[00:25:56]Not that. Not the same crowd that quoted answer a fool according to his folly on Sunday while walking straight into the folly on Monday. [music] Now, how did we get here? There is a system underneath.

[00:26:08]Hate needs a certain emotional climate to survive. It needs to be feared or it needs to be taken seriously or it needs to feel powerful. What hate cannot survive is being laughed at because laughter says out loud, "You are not frightening. You are ridiculous." The community learned this under conditions where meeting hate with force meant death. So the community perfected the other weapon. The one that could not be arrested. The one that left no bruise.

[00:26:33]The one that won the exchange while the winner was smiling. The trickster, the dozens, the comedian, and now the group takeover. It is all one lineage. It is the mind defeating the menace. The way Breer Rabbit always beat the bear. I talked to an elder last week, 81 years old. He held court in the same barberhop chair for 50 years. And in that shop, he was known as the undisputed champion of signifying, the man nobody could out talk. He told me a story. He said that back in his younger days, a man came into the neighborhood spoiling for a fight, throwing slurs, [music] trying to start something, and the elder said he did not swing, and he did not run. He just started signifying, [music] turning every ugly thing the man said into a setup for a joke until the whole street was laughing until the man himself could not help but crack a smile. Until the fight simply had nowhere left to stand. Then he said this, "My grandfather taught me that a fool wants you angry because anger he can use. Anger he can fight. [music] Anger he understands. But laughter, laughter he cannot do anything with.

[00:27:40]Laughter takes his power and hands it to the crowd." My grandfather said, "Baby, never wrestle a fool in the mud because you both get dirty and the fool likes it. Make him funny instead. Make the whole street laugh at the thing he thought was scary. And you have beaten him without touching him. And he cannot even file a complaint. Those young folks who took over that group with jokes, they are my grandchildren in spirit.

[00:28:03]They fought the oldest way we know. They made the menace ridiculous. That is the receipt. That is the human anchor. Now hear me out. Proverbs 26:5.

[00:28:14]Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. Pull that verse apart. The scripture is not subtle. It advises meeting Folly on Fi's own ground so that the fool does not get to walk away thinking himself wise. The text was written 3,000 years ago. It is the entire strategy of the group takeover in a single line. Do not dignify the hate with rage. Answer the folly with folly and let the whole room see it for what it is. There is your accounting. Black America, listen. Keep your joy. Keep your wit. It is armor and it [music] is a weapon and the community forged it in fire. When hate builds a room, you do not always have to burn it down. Sometimes you just fill it with laughter until the hate cannot breathe.

The work of remembering who we are has never required us to attack anybody else's right to remember who they are. If you came here looking for a video that tells you black America is right and somebody else is wrong, you're in the wrong place. If you came here looking for a video that pits us against another community, you're in the wrong place.

From the abolitionist in Boston in the 1840s to the Freedom Writers in Mississippi in 1961, we have always been at our most powerful when we have walked with our allies, named our shared enemies as systems rather than people, and held the door open for everybody who wanted to do the work of justice with us.
