HUGE M6.6 Earthquake Strikes Kamchatka Russia

[00:00:03]It was a strong earthquake, several strong earthquakes there off the Russian coast of Kamchatka of magnitude 6.6 after they had a foreshock about 1 minute before of a magnitude 6.0.

[00:00:24]And let me bring this out so you can see these quakes. Yeah, it's a highly seismic area.

[00:00:32]Um especially after the 2005 8.8 earthquake.

[00:00:37]And this is where the uh Pacific Plate is subducting underneath the North American Plate.

[00:00:44]And it occurred at 6:52 p.m. local time.

[00:00:49]There was one report sent in for the uh 6.6 and quite a few sent in um for the uh 6.0, I think. Now, USGS says there is no tsunami warning but we do have one buoy that is currently going off. That's this one right here.

[00:01:15]Okay, not very large but yeah, it is significant.

[00:01:21]You see the red uh red line right there when the earthquake occurred and well, it rose up.

[00:01:27]One report here from EMSC.

[00:01:31]It occurred at 6:52 p.m. local time.

[00:01:35]Says was noticeable and lasted a long time on the first floor about 30 seconds.

[00:01:41]And we got some more reports. Um this is the one that came in first.

[00:01:46]So, the main uh foreshock is this for the foreshock.

[00:01:50]But a lot of people might have put them in for the main shock. It was noticeable on the first floor for a long time.

[00:01:57]Let's see. Lift another one fifth floor is okay.

[00:02:03]Um private house notice believe for a long time.

[00:02:08]Two waves yeah, there was two earthquakes within, you know, 1 minute. It rocked for 1 minute. Okay. No reports have been sent in so far for the foreshock of 6.0 the USGS.

[00:02:22]They gave an intensity level of four.

[00:02:24]And then for the main shock of 6.0 6.6 um one report there um which is really odd. They gave an intensity level of Now the 6.0 was about 17 miles in depth.

[00:02:41]It was much deeper than the 6.0 which was about 6 miles in depth.

[00:02:49]Here's that one report that came in for the um 6.6.

[00:02:55]Um village of all um 157 km to the west. So that would be about oh 96 almost 97 miles. Um there has been a total of nine earthquakes um eight aftershocks the most recent of 4.4 which was 19 miles in depth.

[00:03:20]Um there was also a 5.2 6.2 miles in depth a 5.3.

[00:03:28]Let me bring this down a little bit.

[00:03:31]Um 6.2 miles in depth 4.5 um 6.2 miles in depth of 4.4 same depth a 4.9 same depth um the 6.6 6.2 miles in depth, but it was shallower.

[00:03:55]And the initial foreshock all the 6.0 17 miles in depth.

[00:04:03]And then we got Well, see this one over here.

[00:04:07]I don't know where that one is at.

[00:04:09]Okay.

[00:04:11]No damage is being being reported as of making this video, but it's still early, so you just don't know.

[00:04:18]Anyways, let me bring this out so you can see this. This is the uh 6.0 And here is the foreshock that occurred about a minute before.

[00:04:31]Just another reminder, always be prepared for Yeah, some sort of disaster. And there's a lot going on and a lot possible um going to happen in the future.

[00:04:43]You want to stock up, be prepared, have a plan.

[00:04:46]Know where you might need to meet your family in the time of a disaster if you need to evacuate.
