This debate is a sophisticated performance of political finger-pointing that uses technical jargon to mask what looks like a recycled pork barrel scam. It shows how high-level officials use procedural technicalities to avoid genuine public accountability.

Sen. Marcoleta pushes back vs Sen. Lacson claims on million-peso DPWH ‘allocables’ | Midday ReportAdded:
Senator Rodante Marcoa rejects allegations made by Senator Ping Lakon, linking him to a million peso DPW allocables. He insisted the materials being circulated were used to cast suspicion rather than establish facts as the Senate continues its probe into the flood control scandal. Hannity is joining us live from the Senate.
My Senator Rodante Marcoleta pushed back against uh Senate President Prompor Ping Lakson's claims that he's linked to around 500 million peso worth of DPW allocables. Marcoleta said the evidence presented against him was taken out of context, incomplete, and meant to create public suspicion.
Lockson earlier showed a PowerPoint slide before the Senate plenary of supposed allocables and leadership fund with Marleta's name and a handwritten note from the late public works under secretary Maria Catalina Cabrala. Lakon also said he first heard reports about alleged bulan or kickback requests involving Marcoleta during a commission on appointments hearing on the confirmation of then DPWH secretary Manuel Bonoan where Maruetta was chairing the public works committee at the time. While requesting project allocations is not illegal by itself, Lakon said it could become a criminal issue if the projects turn out to be ghost or substandard projects. For now, my Marcoleta is yet to be investigated.
According to Lakon, Marcoleta denied any wrongdoing and said the documents presented against him were incomplete and lacked full context. The senator also pushed back against the idea that members who refused to sign the partial report were blocking the investigation, stressing that Senate rules do not require all committee members to sign a report. This is after Laxon described the flood control scandal as the reincarnation of the pork barrel scam with the blue ribbon committee recommending preliminary and find factf finding investigations against several lawmakers, public officials and private individuals over alleged corruption in flood control projects. My hana, what will now be the focus of the next Senate investigations on the flood control scandal?
My this time Laxon said the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee will zero in on allocables and scrutinize projects under these and also they will also uh verify additional flood control projects in Visayas and Mindanao to see how widespread the corruption is. Back to you Mai. Thank you Hanati. joining us live from the Senate.
