Meredith brilliantly uses pop culture to explain complex emotional defenses, making high-level psychology accessible to a mainstream audience. However, applying such heavy clinical rigor to a simple pop song sometimes feels like over-analyzing the natural, messy magic of a crush.

Therapist Reacts To: Drop Dead by Olivia Rodrigo *fantasy life in full force!*Hinzugefügt:
I'm so excited today because I'm going to be doing Olivia Rodrigo and I think I can produce more content now because my headaches are going away. I just needed a new prescription. So, I finally got my Warby Parker ones of the these are the Franny ones. And if you'll know, the first pair never came. I mean, the box came the container with the eyeglasses, but there were no eyeglasses inside.
Anyways, I want to let you all know that I that I've been working on this secret little project that it's kind of like a book, but a guide to help you figure out what area you should work on in your life based on certain songs. The first one is going to be around Taylor Swift songs. There's going to be another one for Lana. And I am going to be, you know, giving my what I've come up with first over on Patreon and then they'll likely if this is if this goes well, then I'll do another one. And just because I've been feeling more and more like we can learn so much about ourselves through lyrics and psychology and I know I do it this way, but I want to keep going with it. I know that Lana and Taylor have insane amount of songs and I can't fit them all in, but that's why I am saying I'm open to doing more books in the future. So, anyways, other things too. Head on over if you would like to support me. It would mean so so much over on patreon.com/minwithm.
And yeah, let's just do this. Also, I wanted to point out very quickly, my friend makes miniature like furniture and books and things, and she made a little miniature Plan B Chronicles. How cute is that? And even my face is on the back.
I know that the bar closes at 11.
I hope you never finish that beer.
You know all the words to just like heaven.
And I know why he wrote them. Now that you're standing right here.
Oh, one night I was bored in bed and stopped you on the uncertation cuz I always had a vision. I was standing right there. Heat. Heat.
kiss me and drop.
>> I I like this. She is absolutely in fantasy land with him. Wow. It's interesting that she says she had a vision of them standing like this even though they've never stood like that before. That's textbook fantasy bonding.
Our brains will fill in every blank for someone that we're interested. And by the time you're actually in the room with them, like you've broken up, gotten back together. The imagination is just running wild. And I think the imagery that's like that soft kind of like you're in a days, like that love feeling that I haven't felt in a really long time. I'm happy for her that she did. I think that the talking about kiss me and I might drop dead. That's that phrase captures something around early attraction. The way that it feels like the best but also the most threatening thing at the same time. the intensity that almost physical overwhelm. It's like your your nervous system is going into overdrive and and truly it's not calm. It's not comfortable. Even though I do think with the right person, it's not going to feel so chaotic. I feel like sometimes when it feels that chaotic, you might need to like just just take a beat, just take a moment because for a lot of people that grew up in more chaotic environments when love wasn't predictable, spike of anxiety and excitement there, it's so intertwined that they almost feel like the same thing. Okay, let's keep going.
And I feel like I might throw up. Left hook, right punch to the gut. You're just a pretty boy. I'm paranoid I made you up. Yeah, I love how you walked me home. If you pause, we can go real slow cuz I got you a bunch of stuff. I'd like to know like have you ever been to Japan or taking that Euro Star France? I've been dropping hits all night if you held my hand. I'm paranoid I made you up.
That's such an honest description of when something feels almost >> too good to be true. This is actually a protective response because your brain is like going to be looking for the catch because it's that duality of like the thinking that if I allow myself to believe that this is real, then that means that I'm probably going to get hurt. So, I'll preemptively doubt it.
You know, it's very complex because you're saying the right hook, the punch to the gut. Yeah. It's it's knowing, oh, this might lead to really hurting me.
Okay, let's keep going.
Have you ever been to Japan taking that you start friends? I've been dropping his all night and then we can make out close off and fall to the ground. Let's go steady.
Let's go out and tell the whole damn world.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Yeah. Heat.
Heat. Heat. Heat.
Yeah.
Heat.
My kiss me in my dropped dead.
Silence.
Wow. Did you all see me perk up whenever she said Pisces and Gemini? Yes. Because I love astrology. And I think here it's like trying to find anything that will signal >> like we'll work out.
>> We will work out.
>> We could be together forever. Our signs match. You know, you look for all of those things. Not saying that's not wrong. But also, I think that her dancing around in Versailles, comparing him to an angel painted on in Versailles, is just like it's it's unrealistic. It's a fantasy. It's not it's like bigger than life to be able to you can't run around the Versailles like that. Like you can't do these things, but she wants to. This is just like early attachment I feel like in real time. Longing, the anxiety, the self-doubt also running through her head. She's she's ready to go all in.
And that's such a fun time whenever you're trying to learn everything about someone like where have you traveled to?
Oh, we could eventually do this and like what our lives would look like together.
It's fun to go into that fantasy world.
It really is. And I and I think it's important but not to get lost into it and staying in the reality of like what the person's showing in front of you.
And I'm sure it's great at first, but yeah. Yeah. It's it's a moment. It's a certain experience. So cool that she's just like running free through those hallways. It's beautiful. All right. All right. I hope you all enjoyed this.
