[00:00:00]The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. So, amongst the other things I'm going to cover today, why it cost 76,000 pounds more to build a house in the UK, a new build house, than it did in 2020, which seems ridiculous, I know. Um the EPC illusion, as I've called it, which we'll get into, apart from anything else. And also uh this bipolar political landscape we now find ourselves in, uh and talk a little bit about why therefore Britain has stopped building, apart from anything else, which has not got an immediate impact, but it does, of course, have an impact over the next years and decades to come, realistically. So, we'll start with Trump watch, as we normally do. But we'll start at home and what what Mr. Trump has been doing to us, cuz we've had this seismic shock in our political landscape, realistically. And we knew it was coming. It's easy to say we knew it was coming, uh but it's happened now, and so we've got to deal with it, and we've got to imagine what that's going to mean for us, apart from anything else, going forward. Uh I'm personally not much looking forward to the 2029 elections, but if they are in 2029, and I'm assuming that they are, if then the 2034 elections, if the 2029 winners, if there are any proper winners, uh don't do very well, I really do fear for the 2034 elections. But anyway, I'm not going to be too bearish about all of that. Remember, we don't worry about what we can't control, apart from anything else. Uh but of course, the the established order, the Conservative Party in their current form, couple of hundred years of history, the Labour Party about 125, 115 years of history, something like that. Um well, look, Labour lost more than half the seats that were put up on the local councils. It's as simple as that. Keir Starmer was bruised. As I'm recording this, we're actually waiting for a cabinet meeting this morning. Is he going to come out and say, put forward a timeline for his his resignation or him stepping down as the leader of the Labour Party? Uh I don't know. I mean, obviously seems I think up to 56 MPs last night had started calling for his head. They need 81 formal letters to be submitted to go for a vote of no confidence. It's going to be up to him whether he wants to go out with a with as a damp squib or or or with a bang or or whatever it really would take. But I think this time it's gone too far and the party are absolutely screaming, realistically. Um so, let's see what happens. And look, this is only 2 years after that election. It's I remember only only the election was only in June. They started on I think it was the 4th of July, wasn't it? Uh the actual government. And then they had a few weeks before they broke for summer, of course. Although they did work quite hard over the summer, which is unusual for MPs, let's face it. But anyway, enough about that.
