Addressing a viewers comment on drought and humidity

[00:00:00]I want to take the time to address a viewer comment on one of my posts on drought yesterday. Goes like this, "With it being so humid outside, literally the air you can wear, why are we dealing with a drought?

[00:00:14]Shouldn't we be not dealing with a drought?" Well, you would think so. Both have to do with moisture, but it has to do with the state the moisture is in.

[00:00:22]So, when we're talking moisture in the air, we're talking water vapor. It is a vapor. So, it's present in the air, but it's not really doing anything for the ground, right? The ground water is what needs to be replenished, the lakes, the streams. We're not getting that from water vapor. Uh what you need is liquid water, and that, of course, comes from cooling and condensing uh that water vapor into liquid water, and that water then falls from the clouds as precipitation, and that replenishes the ground water and the lakes and the streams, and that is what we need. So, yeah, we have lots of water vapor in the air, but we need rain.
