LUBA 3 demonstrates a sophisticated leap in consumer robotics by using sensor redundancy to solve the long-standing reliability issues of outdoor navigation. It successfully transitions robotic mowing from a hit-or-miss novelty into a tool of industrial-grade precision.

Mammotion's LUBA 3 is untouchable.追加:
This video is sponsored by Mammotion.
What you see here is the Mammotion Luba 3 all-wheel drive robotic lawn mower.
This is their fourth generation Luba, and I had the privilege of using and reviewing their first generation Luba back in 2023, and that mower is still in use today at my son-in-law's house.
So, I am really looking forward to this review because this is a beast. This robot solves so many problems, and I'm going to tell you all about it coming up.
>> [music] >> So, let's talk about the kinds of problems that Luba 3 solves.
The first and most important is navigation. If an autonomous robot loses its location, it will often stop dead until you go and rescue it. And that's the best-case scenario. In the worst case, it can fall off a curb, mow into gardens, or even take a swim in a pond.
Luba 3 solves that problem with its Trifusion positioning system, which uses a combination of 360° lidar plus GPS satellites plus AI vision technology to ensure it always knows its exact location within 1 cm.
That way, when you map your lawn with Luba 3, you can trust it to follow your boundaries precisely the way you map them, even if you need to mow under thick trees or near tall buildings that would normally block GPS signals.
The next problem is that many GPS robots, including the previous generations of Lubas, required you to install an RTK antenna somewhere on your house with a permanent clear view of the sky.
Not always easy to do.
Mammotion solves that problem by offering a net RTK service called iNavi, which is available for a lot of the US and most countries in Europe.
A local RTK antenna is still included in the box for people that don't have net RTK service.
But I had no trouble getting it here in New Jersey, and all of my testing was done with net RTK.
It worked perfectly and you'd never know the difference.
Let me give you a sense of the uh sound that the Luba 3 makes.
The drive motors are virtually silent.
And the uh the blades are all that you can hear, but even that is not very loud at all.
Another problem people have is mapping all the zones in their yard.
With the rise of AI, many new robots have started adding auto mapping capabilities that attempt to follow boundaries, but Luba 3 takes a unique approach that goes back and forth across the whole zone during auto mapping, so it can identify internal no-go areas in the middle of the zone.
That could be a significant time-saver for people with lots of trees.
Even if you use auto mapping to create your zone to begin with, you can still always go back and modify the boundary manually if you need to. And even define virtual fences that keep the robot from going into your neighbor's property.
Luba 3 is a beast with even the most complex terrain you can throw at it.
Rough surface roots? Not a problem.
Need to make a path across a stone driveway? Luba's all-wheel drive has you covered.
Need to cross a high garden border? Luba laughs.
And it can mow up to an 80% grade, which would be impossible with a push mower or a tractor.
Mammotion invented the omni wheels that you see on the front of this mower, and they enable it to make zero-point turns without doing any damage to the grass.
Let's do a little obstacle avoidance test here and say your child leaves a toy out on the lawn.
What does it do?
Good.
Sees it, slows down, goes right around it.
Actually, it's reversing and started going back the way it came, and it'll eventually come back the opposite direction and finish these stripes on the other side. And the only spot that will be unmowed is right underneath the object.
Now, let's say your kids are playing ball on the lawn and they just kick it into the middle, right where the mower's going. Let's see how it handles that.
Wow, even though it would have gone around it, it still turns around and avoids it.
Really good job.
Luba 3 has dual cutting discs with six blades each for a 15.7-in cutting width.
It comes in two versions. The standard version covers heights of 1 in to 2.7 in.
And the high version cuts heights of 2.2 in to 4 in.
I use the high version on my cool-season lawn here in New Jersey to mow usually around 3 and 1/2 in in the spring and even taller in the hot summer.
Luba mows perfectly straight lines in the grass that look really impressive on my corner property.
It's exclusively a mulching mower, and if you mow often, it finely chops the clippings to return nutrients to the soil without the need for bagging.
But it's not a problem if the lawn is a little bit long when you return from vacation.
Luba can cut inches off your grass and randomly eject the clippings out the back without clumping.
All right, let's take a look at the cut quality here.
Cuz I know it doesn't look like it needs to be mowed, but if you look at it, that's the unmowed side, and that's the mowed side.
I'd say that looks pretty good.
You know, it's got some stragglers, which is typical.
You just have to do multiple passes and not cut off too much, and make sure you change the angle every time you mow.
So, let me share a little pet peeve of mine. So, you know how I had the wheels going into the garden, right? I had it overlapping the edge, and that was a wonderful thing, and you can see I did two perimeter passes here. But even though I did two, I've even tested it with three, it's still when it's doing its turns, it backs up and the back wheels go into the garden, and it's messing up my my mulch here. So, I just that's a little idiosyncrasy, a little software quirk with this that I I would assume that because I have two boundary passes, that it would only go back up into that boundary pass, and if I do three, it only backs up to there. And the good thing if it did it that way, it would be, you know, a way of preventing excessive wear on the edges where it does its turning all the time, right? Cuz this kind of stuff this isn't necessarily from the robot, but I have other robots that have done that.
So, anyway, just uh end of rant. That's one little thing I'd like to see them improve upon.
Luba comes in three sizes for small to large lawns.
The 1500 means 1500 square meters. That covers.37 acres and it has a 9.4 amp hour battery. The 3000 covers up to 3/4 of an acre with a 12 amp hour battery and the biggest is the 5000 which covers 1.25 acres with a 15 amp hour battery that provides up to 215 minutes of run time and can cover.42 acres per charge.
Now my big zone in the front is over 22,000 square feet which is more than a half an acre and it can do the whole thing with only one recharge.
Start charging.
Luba comes with a free built-in 4G module with 3 years of service included.
It's IPX6 waterproof and has a 3-year warranty. When you have a robotic lawn mower, you have more time for the things you enjoy in life.
Like cleaning windows.
So what do you think of the Luba 3?
