Pennsylvania's primary election results revealed several competitive races, including a Republican State House race in District 50 where incumbent Bud Cook faced a close challenge from Ben Humble, a Democratic State House vacancy in District 45 contested between Pat Catena and Brittany Bloom, and a State Senate race in District 46 where incumbent Camera Bartolotta defeated Al Buckton with strong support from Washington County. The Lieutenant Governor race was called for Jason Richey, while both gubernatorial candidates (Josh Shapiro and Stacy Garrity) were unopposed in their primaries, setting up a direct general election matchup.

Breaking down results in Pennsylvania's primary electionAdded:
Now to results of today's Pennsylvania primary, we have at least one local incumbent in trouble. Few other close races. Political analyst John Delano is here. We begin, John, with the Republican race for State House in District 50. Yes, this is a district that's in Washington County and and down in Fayette County. State Representative Bud Cook looks like he's losing this race to Ben Humble. Now, I've talked to Cook just a few minutes ago. He says he's not ready to concede because it is so close. He's going to look at the numbers tomorrow. But at the moment, it looks like Ben Humble has defeated an incumbent state representative in the Republican primary in the 50th District.
>> Let's take a look at the Democrats running for State House in the 45th District vacancy. This includes candidate Pat Catena, Allegheny County Council President.
>> Yes, this is a hotly contested race and Catena may have made some errors in some of the mailings that he sent and clearly the progressive Democrats were out in force to support Brittany Bloom, who is a a young attorney, a mother of two young girls, and she's somebody who's going to be new to the scene in this area. State House Republican race, this is up in the North Hills, Cranberry, a very close race here. Another close race. This is a district where the incumbent is stepping down and so you have two Republicans running in a generally Republican district. And Scott Timko looks like he's just narrowly beating Ethan Nicholas in this race.
Again, Timko tells me he's not received any concession calls from Nicholas. So at the moment, this race has not yet been called.
>> on to State Senate 46th District. The incumbent Camera Bartolotta fending off a spirited challenge from Al Buckton. It looks like she's done that indeed. Now, this is a race where millions of dollars were spent on campaign ads against Bartolotta and against Buckton as well.
If Bartolotta pulls this out and it looks like that's what she's done with 99% of the vote, it's largely because Washington County came through for her.
That's her home county. Buckton's from Green County. Green County supported Buckton, but there are a lot more Republicans in Washington County and they came out and they supported Bartolotta. All right, moving to Congress now, the race for US House Republican nomination to challenge Chris Deluzio, the Democrat incumbent who's running unopposed in the fall. Well, most of the evening Jesse James Veltri was leading Sheriff Tony Guy, who is from Beaver County. Veltri is from Allegheny, but look at this. It looks like with Beaver County coming through, Tony Guy appears to be the nominee. Still some votes outstanding, but it appears that Tony Guy will be the Republican nominee against Congressman Chris Deluzio.
>> And we have two Republicans running for the nomination for Lieutenant Governor.
This race has been called for Jason Richey. That's right. CBS has already called this election for Jason Jason Richey, an attorney here in Allegheny County, against John Ventre, a businessman, a retired UPS person from Westmoreland County. Okay, we saved the biggest race for last because it wasn't really a race. There was no contest in the Democratic or Republican uh primaries for governor. Josh Shapiro unopposed, Stacy Garrity unopposed for that.
>> That's right. That's exactly right.
These two candidates can now go at it in the fall and believe me, they will. Uh the governor had a press announcement as public speech that he gave just a little bit ago and then I caught up to Stacy Garrity for a quick interview, a reaction to what the governor said.
Let's take a listen.
I know we're worried and we're fearful and we're angry that this country that we love so much feels like it's slipping away.
That the values that we hold dear are being squandered by a president and his band of enablers hell-bent on injecting chaos and cruelty and corruption into our lives every day.
Well, they're trying to make it a referendum on President Trump, but I'll tell you it's a referendum on the failed policies of Josh Shapiro because Pennsylvania ranks 38th economically, we rank 39th in education, where seven out of 10 of our eighth graders can't read at grade level. We rank 41st overall. I could go on and on, John, but I won't end because I'm the state treasurer with the last fact we spend $5 million more than what we bring in every single year, and it doesn't have to be that way.
All right, John, thank you very much.
We'll see you in November if not sooner.
If not sooner.
I'll be back.
