China just made the Mecca a reality.
Unitree Robotics today unveiled the GD01, the world's first production-ready manned transformable Mecca. The machine weighs 500 kg with a pilot on board, walks on two legs, punches through brick walls, and shifts into a four-legged mode on command. It is officially classified as a civilian vehicle with a starting price of $574,000.
Unitree founder Wang Xingxing personally demonstrated the machine in the launch video, sitting inside the torso-mounted cockpit. The company is already pursuing an IPO on China's STAR Market with full-year 2025 revenue up 335% year-on-year. The robotics race just entered a completely new dimension.
