Young men under 30, who previously supported Donald Trump in the 2024 election, have dramatically shifted their political preferences due to economic dissatisfaction (79% now rate economic conditions as poor, down from 66% before his second term) and opposition to foreign policy decisions like the Iran war, resulting in a 28-point Democratic lead in 2026 midterm congressional polls among this demographic.

New Polls Show Young Men Just KILLED TRUMP'S TERMAdded:
If they think they're going to escape the wrath of young men and the regret that they have for voting for Donald Trump, well, they got another thing coming, mister. They got another thing coming. We are about 5 months out from the 2026 midterms, and I don't want to get too complacent or anything, but if you were looking for a message of hope, if you were looking for a narrative to suggest that Democrats very well could clean up in the 2026 midterms, well, then look no further than young men. And I think the really interesting part about what we are seeing here is is that Donald Trump, to his credit, was able to make a whole bunch of historical gains in the 2024 election, but nearly every single one of those gains, they've been wiped out. Whether we're talking about Latino voters, whether we're talking about Asian voters, whether we're talking about men of color, it seems like no matter which demographic we look at, everybody's running away from Donald Trump. And when we look at young men in particular, the numbers are quite insane. And we're not just talking about young men who say they no longer like Trump, we're talking about young men who say they will vote for Democrats in the 2026 midterms. And so, before we go ahead and dig into what those numbers actually look like, let's go ahead and check in with young men and how they are feeling about this economy. If you guys do appreciate my work and want to support the show, please do remember to subscribe.
And young men in particular, those who powered Donald Trump to victory, well, they are feeling a lot of frustration with the economy. Not a big surprise when they say it's hard to find a job and say, in fact, their aim to buy a home has fallen below 50%. Look at this.
Young men on the economy, those that powered Trump to victory. Men under 30 on economic conditions. Before Trump came into office, this says 2024 and early 2025 before Trump was inaugurated for a second term, 66% of them said it was, in fact, the economic conditions were poor. They were hoping that Trump would solve it. But they view the economic conditions even worse today than just before when Trump got into office. Look at this. 79% 79% this year say that in fact economic conditions young men those under the age of 30 say that economic conditions are poor. The good percentage it was 34% it was just one in three. But now it's just one in five. 21% say economic conditions are good.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah guys so these these numbers are just no good right? And I think what's really interesting here is that young men by 66% were already saying that the economy was no good before Donald Trump got elected for a second term. But one of the main promises that he made to young men was was that he was going to turn the economy around. And now there are only 21% of men under 30 who are now saying that the economy is good at all.
And so I just don't know how you're supposed to go on to win a midterm election when nearly 80% of one of the main demographics that push you over the finish line feel like they can't get ahead in this economy. I mean the the the prospects for buying a house are going down. The job market up. Your wages are now no longer keeping up with inflation. And so that is how people feel when you ask them about the economy itself. But when you also ask them who they are blaming for this economy these numbers are even worse.
And you know who they're taking their frustrations out on? Well it's the man 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. That's who because look at how they viewed Donald Trump and the economy. Men under 30.
These again are the voters who powered Trump to victory back in 2024. In the fall of 2024 versus Kamala Harris Trump was more trusted on the economy than Harris by get this a seven point margin.
Holy Toledo look at that percentage now.
Look at how young men have turned. The net approval among young men for Donald Trump and the economy minus 59 points.
My I'm laughing because the turn is so absurd. This is a turnaround of what is this? Do the math with me right here of 66 points. 66 points in less than two years time just a year and a half in terms of feeling towards Trump and the economy among young men.
>> [laughter] >> When I first saw these numbers, guys, I literally couldn't believe it. We are talking about a 66-point swing on the approval rating for Donald Trump and the economy in just about a year and a half time for young men under 30. That is absolutely insane. 66-point swing, making for a negative 59 approval rating on Donald Trump and his economy.
It is no wonder that many of these young men are now saying that they're voting the other way in those 2026 midterms. I mean, God, he did this to himself, too, right? He came in with the across-the-board tariffs. He came in to enrich himself and his billionaire buddies. He came in and he is not even focusing on the right priorities. We've seen that in poll after poll after poll.
So, it is no wonder that he has a negative 59% approval rating on the economy alone. And then, if you ask these same men how they feel about Donald Trump overall, what is his overall approval rating? Here's what that says.
And when you put it together, right, the economy being the number one issue, how do they feel about Donald Trump overall?
Well, it's a different world, and I loved loved that sitcom back in the 1980s and into the early 1990s. Great theme song. Men under 30 on Trump. Look at this. In the 2024 election, Donald Trump won that vote by one point. He was the first Republican nominee to win young men this entire century.
But now, it's a different tune. His net approval rating among young men, look at this. Minus 55 points. Minus 55 points. That's a switcheroo of what this?
That's 56 points. 56 points in just a year and a half. And you know >> [laughter] >> You know when Harry Enten can't keep it together, that something has gone catastrophically wrong. And that is how I would describe these numbers, guys.
Like I said, Donald Trump, to his credit, was able to make a whole bunch of historical gains in the 2024 election. Everybody was feeling a bit of economic anxiety after the COVID-19 pandemic, which we've been over time and time and time again. But now, GUYS, >> [laughter] >> OVERALL, DONALD TRUMP'S overall approval rating when it comes to men under 30 is a negative 55 as it stands today. Again, how are you supposed to go into a midterm election with these types of numbers and expect that you are going to win this particular demographic over in said election. It just doesn't It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And so, like I said, guys, we are not just talking about guys who are are young men who are, you know, saying that they don't like Trump anymore, saying that they disapprove of Trump anymore. We are talking about people who claim that they are going to prefer Democrats in the 2026 midterms. And so, before we go ahead and get to those numbers, there's just one other piece of data that I want to show you because one of the main promises Donald Trump made was that we weren't going to do these endless wars.
We weren't going to do these regime change wars. I am the man of peace. I am the president of peace. I'm not going to get us into any new wars. And so, when you ask young men how they are feeling about the foreign policy and the war over in Iran, this is what they have to say.
Because remember, Trump said, "Oh, I'll keep us out of foreign wars." And what's been going on in the last few months?
Well, the war in Iran. And young men don't like it one iota because just take a look, Trump and foreign policy. Okay, men under 30 on Trump and foreign policy. Back in the fall of 2024, look at this.
Young men trusted Donald Trump over Kamala Harris by nine points. Today, look at his net approval among them. 54 points underwater. Jacques Cousteau never got that low, my friends. Jacques Cousteau never got that low. 54 points underwater. Again, this is a switcheroo of what? 63 points in just a year and a half worth of time. My goodness gracious.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, my goodness gracious is right there, Harry Enten. Dude, it is so baffling to me that you can go from a plus nine with men under 30 all the way down to a negative 54 in only about a year and a half.
That is absolutely insane and it makes a it makes a ton of sense, right, guys? If you have If you have a president who is war hungry or or whatever the term is, if you have a president that is going into Venezuela and decapitating the leader over there or you know, decapitating the regime over there, bringing the leader back to America, and then he thinks that he could do this the same over in Iran, he starts another illegal war without running it by Congress, who who are the people that go and fight in these wars? It is young people. It is young people over and over and over again. You've got somebody with a a a you know, gold spoon born with a gold spoon in his mouth sending all of these young people to die in a war that we never should have started in the first place. So, it makes a whole lot of sense to me that we are now negative 54 points when it comes to foreign policy and specifically the war in Iran. Now, the most important part about all of these numbers, guys, is, you know, we've talked about it before. Just because people are moving away from Trump doesn't mean that they are going to vote blue in the next election, whether they're going to vote blue in the 2026 midterms or 2028 and so on and so forth.
Just because we have people disapproving of Donald Trump doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to vote for a Democrat. But with this particular demographic, when we are talking about men under 30, here's what they have to say when we are talking about the congressional ballot for 2026 midterms.
If they think they're going to escape the wrath of young men and the regret that they have for voting for Donald Trump, well, they got another thing coming, Mr. They got another thing coming. Because just take a look at young men and the midterms. Okay, men under 30 on the midterm elections. You know, you go back to November of 2024.
Democrats did slightly better than Kamala Harris, but not really. They won it by three points, which is a historically very small portion for young men Democrats winning them. Okay?
Look now though. Look in the average of polling right now, the 2026 race for Congress.
Well, hello.
Democrats are now favored by 28 points.
Now favored by 28 points when it comes to the race for Congress, young men overwhelmingly favoring Democrats.
>> [laughter] >> This is exactly the numbers that we need heading into the 2026 midterms, guys. We are talking about a 25-point shift because Donald Trump and his administration are basically they're basically [ __ ] everything up that they touch, right? They're [ __ ] up over in Iran. Donald Trump said he was going to come in, he was going to clean up the economy, he was going to turn the economy around. Instead, he's driving it into the ground. I mean, everywhere we look with this administration, it seems like nothing is going right unless you are Donald Trump or his billionaire buddies, which is why it makes sense to me that we now have a 28-point lead when it comes to the congressional ballot for the 2026 midterms. These are people who claim that they are going to vote Democrat in the upcoming midterms.
These are the exact types of numbers that we need, especially when we consider that this was one of the main demographics that put helped push Donald Trump over the finish line in the 2024 election. Yes, they are still a relatively small portion of the electorate, but when we are talking about a midterm election where turnout is is, you know, traditionally a little bit lower than say a general election, every little bit is going to count. And so, Democrats really need to put to put the work in to win over more of these voters. We've got what? A negative What was it? Negative 59 points on the overall approval rating for young men, and [snorts] only 28 points say that they are going to vote for Democrats in the upcoming midterm. So, there is definitely still more work to do, but these are the numbers that we need, guys. These are the numbers that are going to help us usher in a blue tsunami that maybe none of us have ever seen before. Donald Trump is that unpopular. He is screwing things up so royally that it like I said in the beginning, it seems like every single demographic that we look at, they are running away from him as fast as they possibly can. So, we are definitely going to keep an eye on it, guys. This one really excited me. I think young men are are are feeling a little bit lost out there right now. I think that they are they they feel abandoned. Maybe they feel politically homeless. And so, it's really reassuring to see that at least 28 point lead on the congressional ballot for the 2026 midterms as far as the Democrats go. I think that is that is exactly what we need and though what we need to continue to put in the work to make sure that we are peeling off even more of these voters before the midterms come around. And like I said, we are about 5 months out. And so, join your local Democratic Party.
You know, join some phone banking groups. Do join some some door knocking groups. Do whatever you can, guys, because this is going to be the most important midterm election of our lifetime, and we have a chance, a very good chance. We've we've got Tal Reek down in Texas They could flip that state blue. We've got Democrats [snorts] winning all over the the country by by huge huge margins. So, we have a real chance to stop this authoritarian power grab right in its [ __ ] tracks. So, I'll leave it there for now, guys.
