The 2024 Los Angeles mayoral race features Spencer Pratt challenging incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, with polls showing a tight race where Pratt has gained significant support from diverse communities including Black, Korean, and Latino voters, while facing criticism from Democrats who question his MAGA affiliation and past associations; simultaneously, Los Angeles faces a severe homeless crisis where a homeless shelter in Northridge was converted into a dumping ground where two bodies were found in a human-dug cave with fentanyl, highlighting the city's failure to address homelessness and public safety issues despite having over 3,000 empty shelter beds and spending over $200 million on homeless services.

🚨Spencer Pratt SURGES with LA Residents As THIS Happens As He NOW Leads Over Karen Bass追加:
Nobody voted for that no more. We not voted for that. Karen tricked us. She don't get to do that twice.
Now you come in here all the way to Crenshaw for Novelle seeds and we all got something in common.
Let's do it.
>> That's right.
>> Hello sir. Thank you so much for coming out here and appreciate fighting for us.
I'm from the the valley.
>> Amazing.
>> and there's a lot of problems I seen at the bus stops. There's people with needles there and there's actually a homeless shelter. It used to be a skin land. Now they made it into a homeless shelter and I think 2 years ago there was a dumping ground of bodies. They found like one body. Like there was a cave behind the homeless shelter and >> Two people have been found dead in Northridge and what firefighters have described as a cave.
>> Two bodies and a white powdery substance were found in what's being described as a human dug cave.
>> Crews were called to the scene this morning finding the bodies at a homeless encampment inside what authorities describe as a human dug cave with a white powdery substance possibly fentanyl next to them. Now they immediately called in a hazardous materials crew to investigate.
>> I just think it's a negligence from the homeless shelter and thank you and I really hope that you don't forget about the valley.
Thank you.
>> [music] [music] >> Want to really see something to say?
Take a look what happened.
>> Why is this beat so crazy?
>> We will make America [music] proud again.
We will make >> [music] >> America >> Yes, together we will make America great again.
>> What they say it's time to go, Karen.
Ain't your mama Bass.
Two days, ladies and gentlemen, two days. This thing is getting spicier, spicier, spicier. This LA mayoral race is heated up. There's a lot of pressure.
Um a lot of people want a change. A lot of people are not for Mayor Bass anymore. And as we see in a lot of these polls, they even have Spencer Pratt ahead.
They say have some polls tied, and then they have some polls that have Karen Bass um winning this thing.
What do y'all think? Let me know in the comments section. Y'all know how I feel about these polls and a lot of other polls, and just polls in general. So, hey.
But, Spencer Pratt has made a name for himself, and he has been backed by a lot of people that want change.
They're done with Ain't your mama Bass.
Um we're seeing Spencer Pratt pick up um huge endorsements, and even Hollywood celebrity endorsements that he does not want. He says he'd rather have Hollywood against him.
But, um I mean, he's having block parties and um I mean, he has people coming up and hugging them and the black community, I mean, the Korean community, the Latino community, all the communities. I mean, there's a lot of people backing Spencer Pratt because they just want change in LA. And as we know, LA, Los Angeles, complete dumpster fire. California dumpster fire.
And as things burn down, Miss Ain't your mama Bass, nowhere to be found.
And there's a lot of other big issues that we've talked about on this show that uh LA California is number is number one, two, three in.
The worst things you don't want to be in the top five in, which they are.
And may it bass and Gavin Newsom and many others just laugh it off. These politicians just laugh it off. Oh, it's not that serious or it's President Trump's fault.
Yeah, it's the big bad orange man's fault.
Ah, but I couldn't wait to get into this man as we bring another update. We've been bringing some of the best updates, follow-ups, and breaking news on this race. And I wanted to just thank you guys for all your love and support men.
And I hope everybody that's tuned in right now that you are blessed, well, and healthy and that you're having an awesome weekend, man. It's one love to the human race and I encourage y'all to continue to spread that love, man.
In these times that we're living in you know, it's an absolute disgrace, man.
But all we can do is continue to be awesome human beings, leaders, mentors, right from wrong, common sense.
Check on your loved ones for me.
Give them a hug for me. Be there. Be involved.
It matters, man. You never know the impact that you have on somebody else's life, man. It's really, really important, man, in this fast time travel.
But let's get into this. Holy crap, black women are now walking up to Spencer Pratt.
Going off on Karen Bass saying they're all in for Pratt. Black woman. But y'all know how I feel about the skin color.
And I I I don't care what your skin color is, man.
The main point is is that people are done.
They want change.
And they're sick of the failure, the incompetence, you know.
And as you can see, this woman here she says, "Karen tricked us.
She don't get to do that twice.
We're not voting for that."
She says, "Well, you you come here all the way from Crenshaw from the Palisades and we we got something in common. Let's do it Spencer for hire. Let's do it."
Just keep the surge going. Nightmare fuel for the socialists.
>> Nobody voted for that no more. We not voting for that Karen. Check that. She don't get to do that twice.
Now, you coming here all the way to Crenshaw from the Palisades and we all got something in common.
Let's do it.
>> Big old hugs. Let's do it. Let's get ancient mama bass out of here.
And then we we showed this at the beginning of the show of this man walked up to Spencer for hire and told him you know, that LA Mayor Karen Bass let things get so horrific that they a that a homeless shelter had a dumping ground where they found dead bodies with drugs.
>> [clears throat] >> And we showed this at the beginning of the show, man. It's just disgusting, man.
You know, an absolute disgrace. Filth.
>> Hello sir. Mr. Thank you so much for coming out here and appreciate you fighting for us. I'm from the the valley.
>> Amazing.
>> The valley and there's a lot of problems with I seen at the bus stops. There's people with needles there and there's actually a homeless shelter. It used to be a skating land. Now they made it into a homeless shelter and I think a few years ago there was a dumping ground of bodies. They found like one body. Like there was a cave behind the homeless shelter and >> Two people have been found dead in North Ridge in what firefighters have described as a cave.
>> I just think it's a negligence from the Hyundai shelter and thank you and I really hope that you don't forget about the valley.
>> I understand.
>> Oh boy, oh boy. And then just now Spencer Pratt just dropped this devastating post on LA mayoral bass with just two days until election day.
You know, it's a disgrace, man. Filth.
At the very ballot drop boxes Karen Bass is using to try and retain power.
Look at the filth, y'all.
>> There it is.
Will Durant Library on a Monday.
>> At the library.
Boy.
And uh-oh, Spencer Pratt's voters are surging to the polls with just two days until the election.
It says he's MAGA.
You know, those streets downtown filled with piss and and homeless, he wants to clean them up. Oh boy, you know how people inject in front of children at the park?
He wants to stop that. That's MAGA. Yes, that's very dangerous ideology. Common sense can win.
>> Honey, [music] we need to talk. We saw the things you've been searching online.
Spencer Pratt, really?
>> In this house, we don't believe in Spencer [music] Pratt.
He's MAGA.
>> What about Spencer Pratt is MAGA?
>> You know those streets downtown? The ones that are full [music] of piss and [ __ ] and homeless people?
He wants to clean them up.
>> And those neighborhoods that burned down?
The Palisades, [music] Malibu?
He wants to rebuild them.
>> What is AI, boy? This AI.
Ooh, I I just never would have thought, man. You know, as a little kid, man, and seeing how I knew we were going to have something. I thought we were going to have like futuristic flying cars maybe. I don't know. But I I just never thought we would have something like an AI and this internet stuff when I got into my 20s, man. I don't know. I'm 26 now. So it's just like we living in times, man, where this this AI thing, man. I just God, man.
It's actually mind-blowing, man.
>> You know how people [music] inject heroin in front of children at the park?
He wants to stop that.
>> And that's MAGA?
>> Yes. [music] It's a very dangerous ideology.
>> [snorts] [snorts] >> I'll tell you, man. Oh, boy.
>> to host the Olympics in 2 years. You're going to be the mayor of that city, maybe. Once you relate >> He's trying to bait Spencer Christian in a trap that give Democrats ammo for ads to run in the LA mayoral race. Spencer didn't fall for the bait.
>> relationship going to be like with President Trump. I'm going to have a relationship with two presidents, and they're going to be the same. I'm going to work with the president the same way I'm going to work with the city council members or the my state reps or the lieutenant governor or the new governor.
I'm going to work with whoever I need to work with to execute the best for Angelenos, period.
>> Do you want his endorsement?
>> I don't need anyone's endorsement but mothers. That's who's getting me elected. People keep forgetting it's Democratic moms that do not feel safe that are putting me in office in 5 days.
>> Can you explain to me something cuz you don't you're not afraid of anything.
You're not afraid of giving your opinion on anything, but you won't give me an opinion on President Trump. And I get it that his endorsement, his blessing may may not be good for you. Likely isn't good for you in LA. But if you're fearless but if you're fearless, what do you what do you think of President Trump? You're Republican, right?
>> Again, this is this right here what you're doing >> I'm just asking.
>> No, I'm telling you. You are this conversation is what's destroyed local elections.
>> You see the way you finished that?
You're Republican, right? He's trying to give sound bites for Democrats and Democratic media to inject into the mayoral race in Los Angeles. I think that's why the reporter or the guy interviewing him is smiling. It's very obvious what he's trying to do. LA County has a report >> And this is what they always try to do.
>> impulsive reaction when it comes to Donald Trump. So, if this reporter can get Spencer Pratt more attached to Donald Trump, that's going to be more beneficial for Democrats most likely.
Simply again, not logically, but just Democrats, especially in like places like LA and New York City, they have visceral reactions to Donald Trump. And I think that's why he smirked towards the end of that clip again because he knows what he's doing. And Spencer Pratt handled it well. And if you average it out, he's the blue, his odds have been more or less trending upwards at winning the election. So, Democrats definitely aren't going to mind some help from their friends in the media, and it seems like that's what this man is trying to do, give Democrats help. But again, I think he answered it well. He'll be working with two presidents. His job is to focus on the people of Los Angeles.
He didn't fall into the trap. And I think it's smart. I think it's a good sign. Anyway, that's all I've got for now.
>> Boy.
Boy, oh, boy, oh, boy. He didn't fall in the trap. No, oh, Bill Maher.
>> The other day, I think it drops.
>> Oh, we got something coming on the show for Bill Maher today.
>> But you know what? I know I'm supposed to hate him. I don't.
>> He runs great ads.
>> Yeah, I mean, he's a nice guy. He's He's What's charming about him is he has no advisers. I mean, he I confronted him on like, you know, this and this, you're going to have to think about. No, I only care about the issues I care about. So, he's very honest about that. Uh it's funny because he's running as a Republican and doing quite well.
Everybody out here is like, what do you think of Spencer Pratt? He's on everybody's mind. I was asking him about that. He's very un-Californian in that way for a guy who's from California. But then I found out he's actually very Californian because he sells crystals.
Uh I had Spencer Pratt on >> [laughter] >> Bill Maher never disappoints to to end the end the finish off the punchline, huh? Oh, boy.
>> Drug addicts, most of these people are addicted to fentanyl and meth. There is places for all of these people to sleep in LA. They are choosing to be on the street because they want to do drugs, they don't want rules.
>> He kind of has a point. Most of them refuse offers for group shelter. There are over 3,000 empty beds. LA has spent over $200 million on.
So, are they homeless or refusing to go to homes? Many of them are mentally ill and addicted to drugs.
And those addicts make bad choices partly due to bad incentives set by bad leaders. Now, before we accuse anyone of lacking empathy, >> Mhm.
>> let's talk about what's not empathy.
It's not empathetic to allow drug-addicted, mentally ill people to camp out in parks, streets, and beaches while they destroy themselves in public.
It's not empathetic to let Texas, Florida, Arizona, and even other cities in California bust their homeless to LA for us to pay for them. It's not empathetic to hand drug addicts taxpayer-funded needles so they can keep using drugs in public spaces. These policies are not empathetic.
They're pathetic. You should be giving these people both help and consequences.
But instead, we give them freedom, but not responsibility. Why?
Cuz we don't want to be mean. But is it mean to set boundaries to stop a mentally ill family member from abusing themselves and others? I mean, doesn't love require both support and boundaries?
Then why don't we set boundaries for the 27,000 people living on LA's streets?
How do Do allow them to do drugs in public places? How do we allow them to defecate in shared spaces? But what happens when someone talks about enforcing penalties by making it illegal to camp in public, they get accused of lacking compassion. Like Matt Mahan, the mayor of San Jose, who was a Democrat.
He got a third of homeless people off the streets and into homes and was called punitive, immoral, and ineffective. He cleaned up public parks but was accused of criminalizing homelessness. He used both compassion and common sense and the Democratic Socialists of America called him MAGA.
Now they're running the same playbook against Spencer Pratt. These critics talk about compassion, empathy, skin color, gender, everything except results. Look, compassion isn't shaming people into saying unhoused instead of homeless.
Compassion is actually solving the situation. That requires enforcing the law. You don't take care of a child who can't take care of themselves by letting them do whatever they want. You give them freedom in proportion to their ability to take responsibility. Without responsibility, they will drown in an ocean of freedom.
We need both compassion and consequences to solve this.
Because consequences without compassion is cruel.
But compassion without consequences is crazy.
If you want to understand what's going on in LA and the mayoral race, I have more on >> Oh boy.
Spencer Pratt, ladies and gentlemen.
Spencer Pratt. Will he pull it off? What do you think? Let me know and all this some of you have have you know, I said I read the comments. Say Rick, you know, uh I think LA is just going to go down this crap we're going to continue to go down this crap hole.
Some of you say I think Ricky will pull it off. You know, [snorts] this is LA's last shot they got.
You know.
But boy, boy, oh boy, oh boy.
>> The ambassadors >> A convicted murderer on the city of LA's payroll working as a peace ambassador has been arrested. Federal agents say the man was caught with body armor and allegedly admitted he was still an active gang member. Investigative reporter Eric Leonard joins us live from the news room with the latest. Eric.
>> Well, federal prosecutors shared the information about the arrest earlier today and highlighted this man's employment with a non-profit that's being paid by the city of LA for its ambassadors who are supposed to try to prevent gang violence. The man charged here, Michael Angel Alvarez, was recently paroled after serving time in prison for murder and the feds say phone records show he was still allegedly involved with crime. This is a photo released by the US Attorney's Office of Alvarez after he was arrested earlier this month by LAPD officers near MacArthur Park. A federal criminal complaint says the officers initially detained him during a stolen car investigation, then booked him after he was allegedly found with a pair of armor plates used in bulletproof vests that can stop rifle rounds. The feds say he also had a business card showing that he worked for Healing Urban Barrios, one of the nonprofits contracted by Councilmember Eunice Hernandez's district that's north and west of downtown. The complaint says Alvarez was paid about $58,000 for gang intervention work recently, but they say he was still an active gang member. They say his cell phone number was tied to numerous recorded calls with other alleged gang members being held in LA County Jail.
Alvarez was convicted of murder as a juvenile in 2002. He was released last year after serving about half of a 50-year sentence. The feds say he was also arrested a year ago with a weapon, but remained employed as a city contractor. The councilwoman's office sent us a statement that says Alvarez was removed from the Peace Ambassador program earlier this month, and that he's never been a direct employee of the city. The councilwoman says gang intervention programs have been successful and says they won't be derailed by the arrest of a single individual. Alvarez is being held in federal custody. He's expected to appear in court Monday. I'm investigative reporter Eric Leonard NBC 4 News.
>> A convicted murderer on the city of >> Man.
And I I love to see it. People want change, and many wants Spencer Pratt to be the next mayor.
They said, "We just voted for common sense."
Oh, boy.
>> [music] >> And we just voted for common sense.
They're calling Spencer Pratt common sense. Oh, boy.
Oh, boy.
There it is, ladies and gentlemen. There it is.
>> wrapping up a media tour here in New York today. Meantime, Democratic incumbent Karen Bass is stumping across LA as polls show an extraordinarily tight race. Matt Finn has the latest from our Los Angeles newsroom on a race that has seriously captured the attention of the nation. Matt, what can you tell us?
>> Well, Brian, Mayor Karen Bass has a busy schedule this weekend. She kicked off one of the first of her events uh holding a rally at the SEIU union building. We were there just a few hours ago. A fairly strong turnout uh and an energetic crowd for a Saturday morning, which >> Nithya Raman >> also featured California Attorney General Rob Bonta. Now, Bass did not miss the opportunity to hit on her opponents, Spencer Pratt and Councilwoman Nithya Raman.
>> We have a choice. Do we choose a TV reality star >> We have a choice.
>> saying he was a villain and taking pride in that >> a TV reality star villain.
>> We don't need villains in this city.
>> No, we don't.
>> And we don't need another person who was on City Council who says it's okay for encampments to be in front of schools.
>> Mhm.
>> Now, Spencer Pratt is coming off that national media tour in New York City, where he told Fox News that he does not care about celebrity endorsements and will be elected by mothers and animal lovers.
>> So, moms are getting me elected because I'm saying, "Oh, as mayor, I'm going to enforce the law and make sure moms and kids can use their parks again. They can go to school without encampments with drug dealing and naked drug addicts having sex in front of these schools on the sidewalk. I'm stopping this because it's illegal."
>> Spencer Pratt, ladies and gentlemen.
Spencer Pratt.
Y'all weigh in with your thoughts. God bless you all and your family. I'll catch y'all on the next one. Yeah?
