Olivia Miles Could Be The MVP as a ROOKIE...

[00:00:00]Olivia Miles is a joke of a basketball player. Like, I cannot stress that enough. Like, Olivia Miles is an MVP candidate. Olivia Miles is a dog. Olivia Miles is fearless. Olivia Miles is one of the two best point guards in the world. And I'm not putting Paige Beckers in the point guard conversation. Um, the two best point guards in the world by significant amount are Olivia Miles and Caitlyn Clark. like there's no way fans are about that. It's the two of them. Um I'm still going to go and put uh like I'm still going to put Caitlyn above Olivia Miles, but look, I don't think you're crazy if you think Olivia Miles is better than Caitlyn Clark, especially with the way she's fighting. I just feel like the way Caitlyn's guarded creates enough gravity um that like it is what it is. Like that's a big factor. But Olivia Miles, like holy crap.

[00:01:00]If nothing else, I'm going to make sure as hell people know how good Olivia Miles is this year by the end of this year. But even in this game, look, she didn't have her overall floor game wasn't what it usually is. I I have to admit that. Like, Olivia Miles is a good point guard, someone who can set up stuff. Her overall floor game was not as good as normal.

[00:01:21]But her abil her scoring especially in that fourth quarter like this is one of these things we like she is cold bloodooded she is cold bloodooded like she's being guarded from deep shooting pull up threes like they're down 13 like this is team dug themselves a hole and look if it wasn't for some very questionable calls down the stretch she wins them the game again first half here that is a huge shot there to make it a six-point game going to halftime Second half, they're down six. Olivia Miles gets the ball. Trailing the play.

[00:01:55]Oh, I'm just going to burn Lissa Smith.

[00:01:56]Doesn't really matter. She kind like floats through the air on her um her layups. And look, I didn't watch the first half of this game. Um she just went into score to go mode, especially in the fourth down the stretch. You can see here did very little in the third quarter, but she goes into go mode here.

[00:02:13]She's taking on Jackie Young. like she's able to she has this thing where she like extends her arm and gets these finishes. She's like iceuming Asia Wilson like is nothing to make it a two-point game. Like that's not an easy finish on anybody, let alone Asia Wilson.

[00:02:28]She attacks Asia again. She tries to switch on to Asia, hits a left-handed and one falling to the deck to get and then hits the free to give them the lead. Then they foul stupidly on a three-point shot the next possession and she pulls up for three and gives them the lead again. Like Asia gets a really soft foul and obviously the Minnesota Links lose this game, but I don't really care.

[00:02:54]I don't really care when we're talking about an individual player. I don't care. Like we've This is what you call like somebody who is just putting a team on her back.

[00:03:04]She put a team on her back today or yesterday. And look, there's been loads of times where people like, "Oh, it doesn't really matter if you lose." Yes, it does. Like Paige Becker's 44 point game was in a loss. Caitlyn Clark's in my opinion um the the what you call it um like her I feel like her best some of her best games were as a pro of coming losses like I felt like the 24 19 assist game is something no one's ever going to do again. Um I think maybe someone breaks it with the 19 assists but no one's going to do that with 24 points.

[00:03:41]Um, that wasn't a loss. The I feel like the Washington Mystics game twice, one her rookie year and one this year where she literally just goes, I am willing this team back into the game. I don't care how bad we're down. I am doing I am willing this team back in. Um, Chicago was very much a Taton just being like, I am not letting us lose and that that was huge.

[00:04:08]But yeah, it was a like I know sorry the one Chicago game like some of the some of players best games come in losses. This for me was one of these games with Olivia Miles where I'm like we're on an eightgame win streak. This was first versus second.

[00:04:25]You are facing off against the defending champions and the best player in the world and you look like the best player on the floor.

[00:04:32]Like there's a lot to be said for that because I don't believe there's ever been a game where Kaitlyn Clark and AJ Wilson have been on the same floor and Caitlyn has looked the best like the best player player on the floor.

[00:04:41]Ironically, I don't think there's been a single game where Caitlyn has played AJ Wilson where AJ Wilson has looked like the best player on the floor. I cannot I have to also make that a point that neither there's been no game where Caitlyn Clark and AJ Wilson have played against each other where either of them have looked like the best player on the floor. Um, that being said, it's a uh like Olivia Miles well and truly outplayed and the team goes to her. This team is like, you are our closer.

[00:05:13]If we are closing a game, we are closing through you. You are our closer right now.

[00:05:19]And look, I'm going to be real, that's incredible. She's a rookie and she's somebody that she's on a team of vets. This isn't like a for example like oh teams trust a cuz like her and Citron are the same age and she's a little bit older than Citron. People like oh yeah I mean teams trust Sonia Citron or the my trust Citron to win to win. I'm like yeah this isn't a veteran team. The Minnesota Links other than Olosu like they don't have any young players. You have all stars in Courtney Williams and Kale McBride. Um, former OW players and former deepways and Natasha Herod being like, you are taking us home. We we trust you. We trust you to make the decisions. We trust you. You got a four-time champion coach and a five-time champion. Let's be honest. We We all know game five is rigged in 2024. Like, I'm sorry. Stewie took eight steps into a clean block. We all know, we all know that was rigged and they trust her.

[00:06:26]That is so impressive. Like that is super impressive from a um for a young player. Like young players very rarely get that type of freedom. Young players very rarely are like get that type of confidence from their coaches and especially from their teammates.

[00:06:47]So look, I'm going to be real. Olivia Miles.

[00:06:52]The odds of her having a better rookie season than Caitlyn Clark are relatively high. Relatively high. She's at a much better start. And look, it does it help with the players with the coach he has and teammates around her. Sure. But like Cheryl Reev is a miracle worker. I get that. If the Minnesota Links like Olivia Miles, we're not even talking about the rookie of the year race anymore because there is no race like Olivia Miles. It's one of those things where it's like there hasn't none of the other rookies in the WNBA have even been um Sonia Citroron last year good or Kiki or Fan good from last year or Angel good the year from the year before while the leader is head and shoulders better than both Paige and Caitlyn especially to start the rook year and the fact that it's the worst we're going to see Olivia M is legitimately So anyway, yeah, that's the video.
