>> It is critical for us to be thinking proactively and be ready to go on day one with the policies that we want to pass. Democrats are taking a page from President Trump's book, Project 2025, the policy blueprint conservatives wrote for his second term. I'm Manuela Toback, ABC 15's political reporter with more on how Arizona's congresswomen are writing the progressive version of Project 2025.
>> We need to make everything more affordable for working Americans and we have the policies to do so.
>> She and Congresswoman Grijalva in Phoenix on Saturday to hear from Arizonans about their affordability worries. We have a astronomical amount of homeless people. We have a huge amount of people that are living paycheck to paycheck. In small groups, they brainstorm solutions to give families relief.
>> Colleague Sam summed it up with "Handcuff the corporations." Yeah.
All right, that's an easy one.
>> Among the attendees, members of the group LUCHA. Three weeks ago, they hosted their own Saturday session to work on a blueprint of their own if Arizona Democrats flip the legislature this fall. The opportunity is right in front of us and um the hope is that our communities also understand that they are the power. With climbing inflation, Democrats are banking on the issue of affordability, drawing a contrast with Republicans and President Trump.
>> I don't think about American financial situation. I don't think about anybody. I think about one thing. You cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That's all. And the fact that he said it, I really hope is a wake-up call to so many people in this country that he really does not care.
