This video provides definitions for key mathematical literacy terms including data collection methods (observation, group discussion), data organization tools (frequency table, tally table, box and whiskers diagram), financial concepts (credit, debit, exchange rate), and utility terms (consumption rate, tariff), which are essential for understanding mathematical literacy concepts in Grade 12 examinations.

2026 MEMO MATHEMATICS LITERACY PAPER 1 GRADE 12 MAY JUNE EXAMAjouté :
In May June 2026, paper one, mathematical literacy. Let's go straight to question number one. Table one below gives definitions of terminologies used in mathematical literacy.
And we need to use them to match.
Okay.
So, here we go. So, we are saying >> [sighs and gasps] >> A, collect data from a group of people.
This could be group discussion.
You know, you're collecting data from a group of people. That's in data collection. Yeah.
A method of collecting data that involves watching, listening, touching, and reading. This one we call it observation.
You observe. You you've used all the five senses.
It's called observe.
Observation. And then we go to this this is this is an entry into the account that shows payment made into the account. We shall call this credit.
The account has been credited.
The diagram used to show the distribution of data along a number line divided into quartiles. The moment you hear quartiles, this diagram is supposed to be the box box and whiskers.
Box and whiskers.
The unit value of one currency relative to the value of another currency. This is exchange rate.
Exchange rate. Group intervals. Group interval.
Group values into classes.
Group values into classes. Sort, arrange, and organize.
The frequency table.
Or the tally table.
The second step of data handling.
Okay, we have here where they're saying raw information that has been collected.
This is data.
Then someone or organization that takes money from your account.
The money becomes a debit.
The rate at which a commodity such as water, electricity, or fuel is consumed.
We call it what?
Consumption rate.
Or you can say it's a tariff.
So, box and whiskers, it's D.
Exchange rate, it's E.
Observation, it's B.
Data, it's G.
And debit is H. 10 marks. Okay, we continue to another question. 1.2.
Many parents Many parents make monthly contributions towards educational policies to assist with their children's future tertiary expenses.
Table two below shows the accumulated amounts for different months invested or
