‘TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE:’ President Trump rejects Iran’s response to U.S. peace proposalAdded:
to the war with Iran now where the ceasefire holds and the two sides are still appearing to be far apart on a permanent agreement to end the conflict.
President Trump posted on social media that Iran's response to the White House's latest proposal was quote totally unacceptable. Iran's response reportedly focused on ending the war on all fronts, including Israel's conflict with Hezbollah. Back and forth strikes were reported between those two in southern Lebanon over the weekend. The White House has focused on restrictions to Iran's nuclear program, which Iran has said that they want to talk about that issue at a later date. A military spokesperson said Iran is prepared to protect its nuclear sites and research centers. Now, this war is expected to be a key talking point for the president's visit to China this week. President Trump is expected to arrive in Beijing on Wednesday and stay through Friday.
China, by the way, is the top buyer of Iranian oil and has been pushing for both sides to end the conflict. There's also still some economic tensions between China and the US left over from that brief back and forth trade war that happened last year. Who could forget that? Now, while the president and others and those on the world stage discuss things, the war continues to impact all of our wallets. Oil prices ticked up slightly again this morning.
So, I can show you what I'm watching.
Gas prices have stabilized, at least for the moment. The national average is $452 a gallon this morning. It is $4.30 on average in Virginia, 416 in North Carolina on average for a gallon of gas.
Uh, and Hampton Roads metro area is averaging about $4.36 this morning. So, I want to give you heads up on
