⌨️ Turning INTERNET VIRUSES into CHARACTER DESIGNS! ( PART 2 )Added:
[music] Hello, welcome or welcome back. And holy moly, dude. 40k views on my [music] last video, guys. There's like nothing [music] I can say to express the extreme gratitude I have. Thank you. Thank you guys so much for the support. This is like so unreal to me. I'm still like processing it. That video was like my best performing video yet. And the comments were just so so sweet and honestly a lot of fun to read. Like I've gotten so many comments of people making head cannons for the characters stories.
Someone even said that like it needs to be a fandom and I'm just like in shock [laughter] cuz everyone was just so nice. Thank you guys so much. I got a lot of comments asking for [music] a part two and some recommendations for other viruses to do and I just decided, you know what, let's do a part two. Everyone really seemed [music] to like the first one, so let's do another one. Anyways, I'm sure you know what a virus is. To keep it short, a virus is a piece of code that can be harmful to your computer, ranging from being a nuisance to straight up breaking your device. Last video I went in order from least dangerous to most dangerous virus, but there's not going to be an order in this video. Mostly because the viruses in this video have caused a lot of damage and I don't know about like [music] ranking how much damage each virus does cuz all of them have done a lot of harm in their own way. So there's just no order for this video. Stick around to watch my process and how I interpret these viruses and turn them into character designs. With that being said, let's start off with our first virus.
>> Chapter one.
>> The first virus I'm turning into a character is Peta. I saw some comments saying to do not Peta, which is a variant of Petya, but for now, we'll just start off with Petya. And if there's possibly a part three, I'll do not Peta in that video. So, from what I've researched, Peta is a family of encrypting malware. This malware is classified as a ransomware. The first variants of this ransomware were seen in March 2016. So, this was actually seen a bit before the W to Cry virus, which is pretty interesting. Apparently, this virus is responsible for a huge global cyber attack in 2017 that affected a lot of places like the United [music] States, United Kingdom, Italy, and a lot more places. But the virus primarily targeted Russia, and Ukraine. I can't say much else cuz this section would be really long, but I do want to tell you the damage this virus caused.
Apparently, this virus caused $10 billion in [music] damages. Like, my jaw actually dropped when I read that, dude.
This virus caused [music] $6 billion more dollars in damage than the W to Cry virus, bro. Oh my gosh.
Like, that's so crazy. Can you imagine something like that in today? That would that would be so scary. All right, with that out of the way, let's get into the character. If you watched my last video and you made it really far, you would know I was seriously dissatisfied with Wuk Cry's design. I can't even look at the design, dude. It's so ugly and I don't want you to look at it either. You can find the video yourself and watch and see the design, but I don't even want to show it, dude. I I hate it.
Motivated by my hatred of W to Cry's design, I decided I was going to go all out for PEA. A lot of people were really liking the lore I came up with in the last video. So, I'm going to sprinkle some lore in for this character and maybe go more in depth into the world building these viruses live in. I know that the Peta virus is a family of malware, but guys, I can't just draw multiple people for this one character design. So, to compromise, I decided that this character actually works for a secret evil organization called Peta. Is this character's name Petya? No, but let's just call her Petya to make this less complicated. I decided that this character is like a really smart scientist encoder that seems to be the brains of the organization doing tests to ensure the best possible virus variants for their big attack on the internet. Her design itself is like really cool. It kind of gives off mad scientist vibes, which I really really like. I think it fits her. I think I think that inspiration mostly came from Stein from Soul Leader since he's like a really smart guy, but he's like kind of weird. I didn't use a lot of references for this design. Most of it kind of just came off the top of my head. I feel like the hair may have been inspired by a character or a pin I saved, but I can't really remember exactly what the inspiration was. I remember saying that I didn't want to prioritize locks as much for Wrist design, and I kind of regret not doing that. So, I decided that for this design, I was going to go all out with the locks. You can see her lab coat has a pretty big lock on it, as well as her having locked earrings, a lock as the buckle of her belt, and locks on her shoes. I really love what I did with the coat, though. It looks like really cool. I was a bit scared trying to draw it out at first cuz I thought it was going to look nonsensical and goofy and I thought people would probably make fun of me for the stupid coat. But I think it came out all right. I also gave her some goggles because as I said before, she's basically the brains of the organization, so she'd probably have some more advanced technology. I was originally going to put a lock image on her goggles. I think I did, but it was like really small. you just couldn't see it. So, just to like compromise a bit, I put some ones and zeros. They don't even mean anything. I just added those in just to add them in. Although, I kind of wish I put some code in there, you know, like HTML. That would be kind of cool, but it's okay.
One final thing I want to point out in this design is that if you see on her waist, she has this little device. I kind of designed a little communicator that won't be intercepted by any anti virus so the organization can communicate and talk about their evil plans without being found out. I think lorewise she probably made the communicator by drafting out the design and how it works. And the organization was just so impressed with it that they decided to massproduce it for everyone in the group to use. Also, I feel like she would probably think W to Cry has really bad fashion, but she'd probably be really impressed by him and what he's done cuz, you know, the W to Cry virus itself is like a virus itself. And to cause $4 billion in damages and take out a whole hospital is pretty crazy. So, I'm pretty sure she would want to collaborate with him on projects. Um, anyways, with that, here is Peta as a character. I really enjoyed designing this character. She kind of reminds me of August from Gachi Akuda and Stein from Soul Leader. Two characters that I personally really love. I think I would have made her pose a bit more dynamic, but I'm not too bothered by it. And I'm pretty sure it's the design that matters more, not the pose, so I don't even know why I'm talking about that. As I said before, I I really like her coat. I think it turned out awesome. I didn't even think I would do anything like it, but I'm really glad I did it. I feel like Petya is basically what I wanted to do with W to Cry, but I actually followed through with how I wanted the character to look. Overall, she looks really awesome. We did great for the first virus of this video. Let's move on to the next virus.
>> Epilepsy warning for next transition.
>> Chapter 2. Sailine win.
When I first heard of Saline Win and searched it up, I was actually pretty shocked to find out this was classified as ransomware. So, I guess we have two ransomware viruses back to back in this video. I still don't believe this is ransomware, though, cuz I watched videos showcasing this virus. And I failed to see the ransomware part in this. Like, all I've seen it done is just absolutely brick the device and play some pretty banger music. So, I don't know.
Um, please someone in the comments tell me where the ransomware part comes in cuz I'm a bit lost. So, when I first saw the video showcasing this virus, my first thought was the insane [music] color combos. I thought memes had some pretty strange colors, but Sailine Wind takes the cake when it comes to strange color combinations. There's so much flashing colors that I don't think I'm going to show you any examples of it on screen. You can search up the virus on YouTube and check it out yourself, but huge epilepsy warning cuz this virus is visually insane. Something really interesting about Saline Win is that not only are the visuals really distinct, but it's got some pretty banger beats here. Just just listen to this, dude. I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty good. The music coming from this virus really inspired me to imagine this virus as a DJ or music producer of sorts. He just has a big passion for music. I also wanted to give him this really chaotic and fun personality like August from Kajiakuda just to bring in the part where this virus is like really destructive because oh my god dude, it can really break your device. I was initially really struggling with the pose and even now I don't know if I really like it. Like I'm 50/50 on it. It just doesn't look as crazy and cool as I initially drew it out. But that's probably my fault because I don't have a good grasp on anatomy. When designing this guy, I imagined he would have a pretty weird fashion sense and in general just a lot of strange appearance choices. I gave him these pretty weird headphones with speakers, which I feel like defeats the whole purpose of headphones, but he's a unique guy, so I thought this wouldn't be too bad to add. I gave him some pretty weird clothes, like this really bright hot pink and yellow jacket mixed with this dark blue and green shirt. And his jeans are mismatched with one part being jorts and another part being fully baggy jeans. Honestly, doing the color palette for this character was a really interesting experience.
I had to use some colors seen in the actual virus and I just wing the rest of the colors. I kind of wish I took more colors from the virus itself, but I'm not too disappointed over it cuz I still like the colors I stuck with. If you noticed, I added a smiley face as the buckle to Sailine Winds belt. I added that in because when I initially searched for this virus, I went to the images tab and there's like a Soundcloud song based on this virus. And the album cover has like this kind of creepy smiley face. I don't know, it just kind of stuck with me and I just decided to add that in. And finally, I just added a bunch of colors and patterns throughout his hair. And I mean, that's really it.
There's nothing much else to say.
Personalitywise, I think this guy just really likes weird trippy colors and 8-bit music. And with that, here is Saline Win as a character. This guy looks crazy. I think I did really well on this virus. I kind of got lost on adding the ransomware part of his design, but I don't know, maybe just imagine he's a pickpocketer or something of [music] that nature. I love the colors I gave him, too. He just looks really cool. I don't think I would have personally [music] designed this guy if I had the free will to make a character.
So, I'm really happy with the turnout.
Let's move on to the next virus.
Intuition chapter 3. I love you. Out of all the viruses requested in this video, this one I got recommended the most. I'm not surprised either. I was actually planning to do this virus in part two, but seeing the comments only solidified my decision. If you don't know what the I love you worm is, it's an email worm that was activated on May 4th, 2000.
This worm spread rapidly by [music] emails and it got so bad that it disrupted major companies, the government, and even the Pentagon. I know this video isn't in a particular order, but this might be one of the most dangerous viruses of all time, [music] dude. In fact, probably the most dangerous ever. The Pentagon is actually crazy work, dude. Now, I had a lot of ideas when it came to designing [music] this character. She may have been the hardest to design because there was so many directions I could take [music] because this virus is so destructive and unique. To start off, I wanted to have this character decked out in pink and have Valentine's Day related [music] stuff on them. Something interesting about this virus is that it doesn't really activate on Valentine's Day, which is kind of weird cuz if it was an love letter, I would assume it would be on February 14th, but [music] I don't know. I guess the creator just decided May 4th was the best day to do it. I gave her this heart-shaped hair, but I decided to add some worms in them. I don't want it to be like gross real life worms. Just think of them like worm buddies that help spread these love letters. I added a bow that resembles a love letter on her chest. And I decided to make her outfit flowy [music] and roughly. I honestly really love the outfit I gave her. It weirdly gives off Ruby Rose from Ruby, but [music] like way more flowy and a lot more ruffles.
This feeling only gets added on more after I added this belt with the little device on it. I'd say it's similar to the communicator I designed for Peta, but I imagine the device is a little compact with worms that infect the love letter she sends, [music] which makes them spread like wildfire. I should also mention that I added a white heart on her face filled with code. The same also goes for her top in the middle part. I thought it would be cool to have some parts of her be code [music] and a part of her being a person. I don't think she'd be malicious, though.
She probably thinks she's just sending love letters and making people's days, but in reality, she's just causing mass destruction. [music] The colors I chose for her aren't really that interesting.
I do like the colors I chose for her, but they definitely look a bit fleshy and muted, but I thought that since this is a computer worm, I wanted to give her more wormlike colors. I kind of wish I diversified on the colors, but I don't mind the finished product. I actually posted a sneak peek a while ago and someone asked if they were going to get lesbians, which made me laugh out loud.
To be honest, I actually did doodle these guys a bit during some free time and I dabbled in the idea of Peta and the I love you virus being in a relationship. I wouldn't say that idea set in stone, but I think it's kind [music] of fun to think of. Maybe I'll make it canon. I don't know. Anyways, enough rambling. Here is the I love you virus as a character.
I honestly had a lot of concepts for this character and I'm really happy with the current concept I stuck with. I think the idea of her traveling around acting as Cupid and infecting others with love letters is such a fun and silly idea and I just love her so much.
I don't think I have anything bad to say about her. I just had a really fun time making her and I'm really happy with how she turned out. Let's move on to the last virus of this video.
What is my purpose if both sides detest me? Chapter 4.
I at first had no idea what BU was until someone commented asking for me to do this virus. I did a bit of research on it and I thought it was so interesting that I actually had to add it in this video. I just could not say no. So apparently when you look up BU virus, you'll find a page where you can download BU, which is apparently an antivirus. The page for this anti virus states, BU antivirus is a renowned antivirus program developed by one of the largest companies in China. I found a video that could explain a bit more on what BU is, but I wouldn't rely on it too much as the video is autodubbed, which I'm not sure would translate accurate information. But do give it a try if you want to learn more and I'll link it down below. Despite this antivirus being marketed as a renowned anti virus program, I've seen many Reddit threads and comments saying that BU is malware. I'll just tell you now though, BU is actually an antivirus.
It's just the way BU acts is like a virus. I saw in this Quora page here that BU is normally perceived as malware because it's easy to install but hard to remove. And that does make sense as there's posts of people asking what BU is and how to remove it from their devices. Now, this really inspired me to add on to the lore I made for these virus characters. Just to recap some lore I made last video. Basically, these viruses live in an unders city with other malicious viruses that aren't socially accepted on the internet. And to wipe out these viruses entirely, the god of the internet sends over antivirus guards to take out viruses in the inner city. I picture that BU was originally an antivirus guard that worked for the god of the internet. However, other antiviruses thought lowly of BU because they actually empathized with some of the viruses that they had to take out and didn't like disrupting where the viruses lived, especially if they didn't cause any major damage. This made BU very unpopular within the antivirus guards. And soon enough, BU was let go from being an antivirus. And since they've shared their views on viruses, they were generally unpopular throughout the internet space as a whole. This forces BU to move into the inner city where the viruses live, where they have mixed feelings on BU, with some thinking they've been betrayed and cast away, while others think they're a spy still working with antiviruses.
Overall, this poor fella has a pretty sad and tumultuous life. So, for Bite's design, I wanted to try something a bit out of my comfort zone. I saw this image on Pinterest a while ago and it inspired me to design BU as this Transformers looking antivirus.
I like to think that BU was an artificially built antivirus with the goal to exterminate viruses, but they gained some sort of sentience and they didn't really like what they were doing.
Another huge inspiration for this design was the logo for BU itself. The logo is this shield with a lightning bolt with red and blue and white. That's honestly a pretty smart logo for an anti virus software. I think it fits really well. I can't really describe how I designed them since there's so many details. But to sum it up, I incorporated the BU logo and a lot of parts like their helmet with the logo on it on their arms, their chest, [music] and I even included this huge shield accessory on their waist. I even included red, white, and blue just everywhere. It's like the only colors you can see on this character. I want to go away from the design for a bit because I found something really interesting about BU the company.
Apparently, do Global acquired an app called ES File Explorer around 2013 to 2015. And in April 2019, Google actually removed ES File Explorer [music] from the Play Store due to the app committing click fraud, which is basically a type of ad fraud where you generate fake ad clicks using bots and other shady methods.
Basically, it's just spyw wear and it did a lot of shady stuff. The craziest part is that Dlobal is owned by BU. So, while BU itself is supposed to be a worldrenowned antivirus, they were technically committing ad fraud and screwing over those who were using the app. It's honestly such a crazy rabbit hole to get into. There's some videos on it, so I totally recommend you check the whole situation out. It's really interesting and really crazy. Like, how how ironic is that? Oh my gosh. Anyways, here is BU as a character design. This is like my favorite design in this series so far.
I'm really happy I went out of my comfort zone and made this really cool design. I just love how shiny they look and they [music] just look so sad and weary. I think the lore I gave them was really interesting, too. And I had a lot of fun making it. Overall, I just love how this turned out. They might be like one of my favorite designs I've ever made for a video. Like top five, top three at least. I just had a lot of fun making them.
[music] >> You're watching Stars from Mars.
Looks like we're at the end of this video. If you made it to the end, thank you so much for watching all the way through. I just want to say thank you so much again for 50k views on the last video. I'm so grateful for the many positive comments and the recommendations for what viruses to do in this video. Just some channel stuff I want to talk about real quick. I'm planning on doing a part two to my Shopkins into Shopppies video, but I'm going to have to delay that as there is a video I want to do relating to die of death, and I just want to work on that before Roblox updates and I won't be able to play Dive Deaf anymore. But don't worry to all those Shopkins fans out there. I will get that video done.
Don't worry, it's going to be a while though. Uh yeah, just a bit of a sneak peek for my next video and some other small stuff I'm planning. Let me know if you guys want a part three or even a video on turning antiviruses into [music] characters. I think that would be pretty cool. And you know, we already did BU, so maybe there's some others we could do. Who knows? Thank you guys so much for watching. Take care, stay safe, and I will hopefully see you in the next one.
