The Supreme Court Weakened Voting Rights

[00:00:00]Y'all, watching the Voting Rights Act get gutted right in front of our eyes needs to alarm all of us. We know what this is all about. This is about disempowering voters of color, specifically black voters, and weakening the power of people who have had to fight for every inch of representation.

[00:00:18]That means the same communities most impacted by gun violence are the same communities facing barriers at the ballot box. When people are pushed out of our democracy, it becomes that much harder to pass the common sense laws that keep us all safe. So, if we want to protect our communities, we need to protect our democracy. Alabama and South Carolina are already fighting back to make sure black voters aren't silenced.

[00:00:42]And across the South, people are making it known that we are not going to accept attempts to take away our voice. No matter where you live, it's on us to keep organizing in our own neighborhoods and showing up in massive numbers at the ballot box this November to protect our rights. And for those of you wondering if this matters, or if your vote even makes a difference, remember this. If your vote didn't matter, they wouldn't try so damn hard to take it away from you.
