I Let the Lymow One Plus Loose on My FarmAdded:
This is the brand new Limo 1 Plus because it's a little bit more than the Limo 1, which I also reviewed on this channel, but in the last couple of months, it got a bit melty, a bit burny.
Yeah, sorry about that. But we have the new Limo 1 Plus now. Um, and what the difference is, I'll get to that later in the video. Of course, I'm going to test this out on some really tall grass to start with, and we'll probably find a few other kind of tough challenges for it because according to Limo, this is now a tougher version that can go through more things and up more steeper things and things like that. So, we're going to test it out. The last one was really good. I tested it on the padding with the solar panels. Now, if you haven't seen the video on the solar panels, go check that out as well. So, I think first step, of course, is to get out this box. But luckily, I have one that is already out of the box just over here. So, uh yeah, I'll show you that one, which is here. Isn't that clever? So, this is the Limo One Plus, and it comes with all of these things. And I can already tell just based on my experience with the previous model that this is just a little bit little bit more quality, a little bit more chunky. I'm not sure. It just feels a tiny bit better in every regard. Um, of course, here's the uh the Hero. This is the Limo um OnePlus itself. Has tracks. Has a really nice cutting deck with two very large blades, which is nice. It's a different kind of cutting than the itty bitty small ones. Um, we have here the uh mount for the RTK. So, this is still an RTK robot. Uh, which means that it it gets a satellite signal with our GPS. It gets it improves it via RTK, realtime kinetics, I think, something like that.
Um, and of course there's a big power supply of 10 amp power supply, which is the one that we wanted for the first one, and we now have it as well for the new one. um bunch of wires which is to connect the power to from the charging station to this and from the RTK to this uh is here. There's some pegs to put it in which we'll do shortly. And again they've printed the manual in like a book so you get a proper book as a manual which is nice unnecessary but nice. Um so here that's all the things.
Um not that many. We just got to uh install the charging station, plug it in, install the RTK, plug that in, put the mower on the charger, and then adopt it in the app, and then we good to start mowing, I think. But um yeah. All right, let's install it and get started.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
All right, the Limo One Plus is set up.
It is ready to go. I did a firmware upgrade because there's always one of those. And now, well, let's mow some stuff because before we get into all the specs and the things I want to talk about, I want to mow. Behind me is the biggest lawn on the farm, and it has not been mowed since the fires. So, this is 3 months or so of no mowing because I was waiting for this to show up because apparently it is rugged. It is uh better now than the Limo uh one at doing tall grass and doing sort of wet grass. It's not that wet. It's sort of okay. Um but it is very long and there's a lot of it.
So I want to see how it does before we do anything else. So uh I have set the uh um the zone up here. I have mapped it. Now if you want to know how to map um with Limo, it's really simple. I did it in the first video for the Limo uh one. Just go and watch that cuz it's exactly the same. It's very uh easy.
It's very quick. You just walk behind it and map the um the area that you want to mow. Uh map out some no-go zones and that's it, right? Nothing to it. So, I'm going to press mow. I have set it to 60 mil in height. I have set it to a higher fan speed uh or you know mower speed for the blades because there's quite a lot of grass. And um we'll see how we go.
Yeah. And then I'll come back and we'll talk much more about how it all works in specs and what I like. Right. So, but let's mow. So, I'm going to press mow.
And >> starting mowing now.
>> Sherman Jr., as I've called him, should start mowing. Okay, there we go. And off he goes. So, this is one of the cool things I like about these robots is that they know where home is. They know where the charger is. I've just mapped the little path from there down to the lawn, and it knows what to do. It's really that simple. So, now it's just adjusting the uh height of the deck. Almost hypnotizing, right? It's quite cool. So, there he goes. Sherman off.
you go. Well, he's got to find the right track um or channel that I've mapped for him and go. There he goes. And goes down there and then he turns cuz that's where the channel is. I went sort of from the charging plate down to there.
He can do it. You can do it. There he goes. I'll move out the way. And he goes down to Mo to work. So, let's see how he does. Here's a little montage of Sherman Jr. or the LMO Limo Plus uh on OnePlus. Oh, many names mowing the lawn for the first time in months. So, let's see. Lawn lawn mower starting now. So uh enjoy.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat up here.
Heat. Heat.
All right, mowing done. So, as you can see behind me, it actually looks really neat. Um, it did take a few goes, and that's fair enough because this was very, very tall. It's not usually the way that you cut grass with a robot mower. You cut a little bit at a time, and then you just keep on it. Uh, that's not what I did. I started at 60, whatever it was I said, and then we went to like 50 and then 40 and then 30 or 35. I mowed it about four times. And I'm actually not I'm not unhappy with that.
Um, that's sort of what I expected. Now, it had a few problems with some of the really thick weeds, not even grass, where there's like thistles and uh, who knows, cabbage weed, I think it's called. There really thick stuff and it's really wet, so it just clogs up everything. That was an issue. And that's fair enough. if it wasn't really grass. So, I don't think we can hold that against it, but it's certainly not for, you know, massively tall grass, weed, that sort of stuff. That's not what it's designed for, and I didn't think it was. But the mowing quality is really good. Really nice, and it's quick. That's probably one of the things I forgot about the Limo from the first one I had is that it's really quick.
Now, you can set the speed of how fast you want it to do it, but like this massive area, which is I'm just looking at my notes here. It is 1163 square meters. So that's about uh in square feet is about a thousand something like that. A bit more than a thousand. So it's quite large, quite large piece of lawn. And it takes uh 4 hours of mowing. So that's with a charge in the middle as well. It only needs one charge usually, maybe two depending on how thick it is and how you know how much it goes. But that's not bad. That's not bad. So so far so good. Now it's really dirty cuz a lot of this is really dusty. It's quite dry. Even though it looks green, it's still really dry here, unfortunately. Um, so yeah, it's covered in dust, but it kept going. Um, that's one of the things I wanted to test was, you know, how durable it was. That's going to be tricky in one video to know, you know, longevity, but fair enough.
So, um, I think I want to cover some of the new things and compare the old Limo, the Limo 1 with the Limo 1 Plus and see what has improved, um, for this new model, cuz there's quite a few things.
Now, in this part of the video, it might be a good time to well, subscribe to the channel. Yes, it's free. There's a big red button down below. Uh, it helps out the channel no end, which means I get to do more of these sort of reviews and tests of real world things. Um, but also, if you would like your own Sherman, your own Limo One Plus, then check out the uh description down below the video. There's links and I think there's a discount code depending on when you see the video. There's all sorts. So, go check that out. Um, there is an affiliate link which also helps out the channel. So, you know, you win, I win. Yay. Um, and of course, if you want to support the channel other ways, you can leave a comment. That's always appreciated. I love your questions and your ideas and your silly comments. Yes, I do. I do read them all. Um, but also you can become a member. Become a member of the channel and you get access to more videos that I do uh behind the scenes, upcoming projects, other bits and pieces that I don't show sort of in the main videos. All of that is for members only, so you can join that, too.
Um, otherwise, just give it a like, thumbs up, press the thumbs up button.
That also helped the algorithm to uh get more views on the videos so I can do more of these things. So, um, yeah, enough of that. If you want your own, check out the description. And now, back to the video. So, there are quite a few changes and updates to the Limo 1 Plus compared to Limo 1. So, I've made sort of like my top five of what I think is worth knowing. Um, first of all, the cutting power. It is accordingly according to Limo 50% stronger. Um it does seem to be like it was doing much better with the with the weedy stuff over there, the really tall thick stuff.
Um even though it needed a tiny bit of help, it was still doing a lot better.
Uh it said it's it's it says it's built for thicker, taller grass, and I actually think so. Um so yeah, it's going to meet its limit at some point, but it's certainly more capable than the previous version. That's for sure. Um, it has what's called the cyclone airflow system which lifts grass before cutting.
That's kind of neat. So, it creates like a vacuum or like low pressure, I guess, something that sucks the grass up before it cuts it. Um, which is hard to test if that's true or not, especially cuz I don't have the old Limo, but the cut seems really nice. Like, it's really good. And this was not an easy lawn.
This is not your pretty pretty lawn like Suburbia. This is farm half burned driven over with excavators kind of lawn and it did did quite well. Yeah. So that's a good one. Um smarter AI and obstacle detection. We will test the obstacle detection a little bit later on the video. Um but apparently it has a more powerful AI chip. So everything needs to have AI now. We know that. Um but apparently it has a more tops, you know, uh terabits of operations per something. Um so that should have should be better at obstacle detection. It has an improved navigation uh with upgraded RTK. And I do think that's true because the Limo 1, as I mentioned in that video, um did have some problems with no go zones, like it would go into no go zones and it would sometimes it would get like it would just stop and say, "I don't know where I am." That has not happened. The RTK and the the positioning seems to be much better.
Much much better. Very welcome improvement cuz that was annoying. Um, and then terrain handling and durability. So, this apparently is now has a reinforced frame and drivetrain.
So, this should be much more durable. I like to mention that as a good improvement even though it's kind of hard to test over like a week or whatever I'm doing this video over because obviously it needs longevity.
But yeah, I think they've improved some of the things um that you know were were brought up with the first one. And then of course there is the bonus feature which we all well everybody that had the Limo wanted and that is charging points on top of the cutting deck not below. Um there was an issue with the below one that get pitted and yeah that is didn't work as well. So they're now on top and so far it's been fine. Like I haven't had it very wet though I must admit hasn't been very humid. Um, but there's little brushes that, you know, sweep them off every time you go and connect and you go on the charging station. So, that's pretty good. So, um, yeah, I think that's, uh, my top five and a bonus for what has improved with the Limo One. Plus, um, very well worth it, I think. So, yeah, I'm certainly happy with it so far. But, let's test some rougher stuff a little bit more. Um, because yeah, that's sort of what they claim, isn't it? Yeah, let's do that.
Welcome to my paddic. Um, we're going to see how well lo mow stuff that I don't think has ever been mowed um at all.
It's been slashed maybe, but not this close. There was a fence here, etc., etc. before the fires. But as you can see on the screen, I am here in manual mode. So, I'm going to be controlling.
What is it doing? Shush. I'm going to be controlling Sherman. Um, so the main function here is that up under the joystick, if you press the joystick, you can see all the settings for what you're going to do. So mowing speed, 1 m/s is very quick. That's sort of transport mode, I'd say. So I'm going to go down to like point4. Give it a chance. Right.
This is pretty thick sort of this. I don't even know what's in it. We'll find out. Um, cutting height, we'll leave it at 80 mil. I think that's fair. You know, you want to, you know, make it a bit. But the blade speed I'm going to put at turbo. Right. So this is the highest speed. This is the maximum into it. So yeah. So that's that's the settings I've got for mowing. And then we're going to click save. And then it says slide to confirm that you want to activate cutting function, which is what we're doing. So this might be a little bit loud.
We'll see what goes into the microphone.
And there we go. Woo. So, maximum speed uh on the blades, not the mower. So, I'm just going to go through this.
Not sure what happened there, but okay.
I'm just going to go forward. There we go. Just through this. So, it's it's at 80 mil. I'm expecting it to stop. If it gets too much, it'll stop the blades.
I'm just going to go over towards you here and then across here. Again, this is completely random. I don't know what's in here. And you can see it's just going through it now. It's not cutting all of it. Oh, there was a stick branch completely, but you just run over it a few times. This is actually really good. I wasn't sure what to expect.
Yeah. And the tracks just mean it goes everywhere. It's just not going to stop.
It just goes through it. And this is wet. It's thick. There's weeds in it.
There's grass. Let's go over here.
There's some thistles or whatever.
Look at that. There's a stick in there.
But obviously 80 mil means it's going to go over most of the stick. Oh, there was a stick there. Let's back over this bit.
Yep.
Okay, cool.
I actually expected this to stop to have too much. Let's just go into the really thick stuff here. Oh, it's we we got a big stick. I'm just going to go around that. There we go.
And again, I love mowers that you can back up over things. It just makes it more efficient. There we go. In through here.
Yep. Off it goes.
Look at that. I'm hoping this is still in camera. Otherwise, it's going through some thick stuff. It's coming back now.
There we go.
Wow.
I I got to be honest, I thought it would stop. I actually thought that it would stop on this. Um I had given it a clean.
It was all neat underneath. The cutting deck was all full of grass, whatever. Um actually, let's have a look. What does it look like now?
Oh, yeah. It's completely chuckle block.
So, this might be one of the things you have to do. It's just cuz it's so wet, it just builds up. You can see it's completely full of it. So, I have to clean that now, but that's okay. Um, it did cut it. It did. Now, you might be asking, well, what about elevation? Cuz that's one of the other things with the tracks. It actually means that it goes up. I can't remember the slope, but it's it has never not gone up an embankment or a hill here that it just goes up. So, that's been really good, actually. I'm really impressed. I thought it would have trouble with this, but I guess not.
Yeah. All right. Well, it seems to hold up, but it says that it's going to go through tall, wet, thick grass so far.
So, um, let's have a look at obstacle detection, cuz that was one of the other promises. H, well done, Sherman.
Right, obstacle detection. So, I've got a few different items that I'm going to try and see if what what happens when the lawn mower comes up against it. Uh, first is a ball. Commonly find found object on any lawn, I would argue. So, I'm going to uh start limo and then we'll see what happens. Hopefully, it just goes around it. That's the plan, right? Lawn mower starting now. There you go. So, he's mowing and let's see.
It's a very bright ball. It should be pretty obvious. Sees it and stops. Very good. Completely as expected and goes around it, I think. Oh, he just turns around. Okay.
Well, that's fair enough. I'd never know quite what the path is going to be for uh you know what happens with these. But yeah, ball definitely. Yeah. But that's that's a pass.
Next, we got something which we have a lot of and it's sticks branches, you know, things like this. I've chosen the slightly thicker one because the thin ones I wouldn't expect it to actually stop for. It just goes over them which is fine. Uh but the bigger ones, let's see what happens. I'm going to resume here.
>> Lawnmowers.
>> Attention. So, uh, I'm assuming it's going to see it again if this AI system is working as they say. So, here it goes. Comes up to it and let's see what happens.
Nope, that didn't work. To be fair, it didn't actually seem to matter in this case cuz it just went over it, but it didn't go around it, so it didn't uh avoid that obstacle. Um, I thought it would have seen it, but it that's a half a pass because it didn't actually have to stop, but I thought it would. Yeah.
Anyway, but that's a branch.
And then there's the child's bicycle, which is a u Well, I think they just grow on lawns, don't they? I'm not sure.
These seems to always be on our lawn.
So, let's see how it does with that. So, we're going to resume again >> from the other direction.
>> Don't think that makes a difference, but all right. Let's see. Lo, what do you got?
This one should be an easy one.
Yeah, sees it.
And almost. Not quite.
All right. I think it encountered a a bump on the front there. So, it knew there was something there, which is also fine. That's part of it. Uh, but it did hit it. So, um, let's just see if it comes back again. It might.
All right. Let's see. So, I haven't moved the bike. It's just the next lane over. So, it would just nick the handlebars, I think. Let's see what happens.
No, it stops.
Very good. That's very good. Cuz there wasn't much bike there. And um I think it sees me. Yeah, it sees me and it stops as well.
Yeah, that's pretty good. Didn't hit anything. And then it just goes back and then it'll mow around me and then I think it just comes back to where it didn't mow at a later point in the routine or in the plan. So very good.
That's definitely a pass. That was actually quite impressive cuz there was almost no bike sticking up there. Very good. Well done Limo. So that's sort of two and a half from three.
All right. We've done some mowing. I've done some obstacle avoidance. We've done some heavy duty mowing. Um where does that leave all of this? So, I've a few thoughts on sort of what maybe you weren't aware of and things that genuinely surprised me. So, first of all, um this is louder than you think.
Uh this is if you're used to the other robotic mowers that have the little blades. Um there's actually one running behind me right now and you could never tell. They're very quiet. This is not.
It's quite loud. You can hear it for some distance, but that's just because it's got those blades. It's got all that power. So, that's the trade-off, right?
But just be aware that it might be louder than you think. Um, it struggles with really weedy thick stuff. So, not the grass that I did manually, but like things that have wet and weeds and tall and really thick. Um, you can probably do it manually first and then put it into a routine for, you know, going. But if you map a an area that has that tall grass, it might just get stuck. Um, mine did for a couple of times, and I'm actually not, that's not a negative.
It's just something you might want to be aware of if you think it's going to do everything. No, nothing does, right? But yeah, you can do it manually. Um, and it is heavy. It's really heavy. It's 35 kilos or 75 lb, something like that. So, it means that you will get bits where it churns up the ground. Now, in front of your charging station, if that's on dirt instead of like say concrete or something, it is going to churn up the dirt. You are going to have track marks on things that are maybe a bit softer.
Just be aware of this because that's again one of the reasons it's heavy duty. It does go through everything as we saw. It mows everything. It mows through stick but it's also heavy.
Right? So those just some of the things bear those in mind um before you make a decision or maybe you weren't aware of.
Right? So or just other things you want you want to know. Just let me know down in the comments. Um and then the things that really surprised me is the connection thing. the fact that it never loses connection to the I'm comparing this to the first version of the Limo that I had some trouble especially on Wi-Fi. It would often I couldn't get connection to it. I had to go via Bluetooth. Um this just doesn't. Not a single time have I not had connection to it. Every single time it just connects, which is a huge improvement. I'm really happy with that. Um cuz that's annoying if you if Wi-Fi doesn't work. That's the whole point of robot mode is that you don't need to be next to it. Then yeah, that's a big thing. Um, the software, especially the app, vastly improved from the first version I tried. Really like a a lot better. It's much easier to map.
Um, it's much easier to connect. It seems more intuitive. Um, there's more features that are obvious. It's just better all around. It's just much better. I'm really happy to see that cuz the first version it was okay, but it was a bit clunky. And I did mention that in the first video as well. They've certainly done a massive upgrade with the LMO uh OnePlus. And then of course it didn't flinch at that tall grass. I did say that as we were doing it. Like I'm actually surprised that it didn't stop at that at all. If id kept going with the mower deck full of grass, maybe it stopped if I'd gone for longer. But still that was pretty impressive. So yeah, I might even use it in manual mode a few places instead of the other one that I've got the remote control one. So yeah. Um now one of the things obviously I can't comment on longevity. I've only had this going for is it 10 days now?
Maybe something like that or a week. A little bit over a week. Um, but I'm hoping that um, especially the having something like the charging points on top, which by the way haven't they're a bit scratched, but that's fine. That's what happens. But they're not pitted. I haven't had any rain. I did say that.
Um, but they've seem to be fine.
Overall, I'm hoping that the longevity part of it of the story is also very positive. Um, but let me know what you have experienced in the comments. If you have a Limo, let me know um, any of the things that you might want to ask and I'll be happy to answer. So, um, I think that's it for the video. I did the tests I could think of. Um, again, if you want to know about the mapping, go to the first video. It's very similar. It's a little bit easier now with the new app.
Uh, other than that, yeah, thank you so much for watching and, uh, I hope you enjoyed the video. Please subscribe if you did and I'll see you in the next video. Thank you. Bye.
