[00:00:23]>> Right about under there.

[00:00:28]Oh, yeah, that's okay. I understand. I do free snake removals in my area. I get quite a few calls, especially in the spring and summer time, about snakes.

[00:00:36]And usually it's a rattlesnake.

[00:00:38]>> I was weeding right here and I got him about right there.

[00:00:41]>> Right there, all right.

[00:00:42]>> went right there.

[00:00:43]>> You have an access point under the house?

[00:00:44]>> Way over there. I was going to say there's a hole right there where I got that board.

[00:00:48]>> We can open that up and just whatever gets you in there and see if it's around there somewhere.

[00:00:53]>> Yeah, all right, let's do that.

[00:00:54]>> And see if it has a mama. It was about that long.

[00:00:56]>> They do a lot of That's one thing I don't like is wasps, actually.

[00:01:00]>> [laughter] >> You're scared of wasps and not a rattlesnake? [laughter] >> Well, the wasps are unpredictable, but the snakes I can read, you know.

[00:01:24]>> Why does Cataleya relocate rattlesnakes?

[00:01:26]Well, it's because for one, they have a vital important role and God put them here on our planet for a reason, my personal opinion. But it's the truth.

[00:01:35]They do play a vital important role in our ecosystem and we need them. So, I try to do my part by helping the ones that I can. You know, I I don't usually crawl under the houses, but I had someone tell me recently that they don't think that I would do it, that I'm too girly. So, I'm going to go under there.

[00:01:51]>> [laughter] >> I'm doing it. That's surprising to me that y'all don't get snakes very much.

[00:01:56]>> I'm glad we put the straw down because I don't think they'll come across. Will they? They don't like this.

[00:01:59]>> Yeah.

[00:01:59]>> They might, but they usually only go to where there's food or shelter. But you keep your yard really nice, so that's one one thing I tell people is to always make sure you keep your grass cut short.

[00:02:09]They're less likely to want to come to a place with cuz you like the snakes. [laughter] Let's see. Woo, yeah, that's going to be tough.

[00:02:20]>> Yeah.

[00:02:41]>> No, there's no kind of sprays or anything that will keep them away, sadly. We can try to look over there on the other side, too, again and see if maybe we can see him, you know. In the corner, way over there.

[00:03:19]>> You get skinny.

[00:03:32]>> Yeah, he's just sitting there. It'd suck if he like went right under the house.

[00:03:35][laughter] >> I don't know if there's like a nest or if he's >> No, so it's typically is they're just they're looking for water, they're looking for food. They go in your yard till they're out and about.

[00:03:44]>> Oh, it'd be so great if you got him. It would She would sleep at night.

[00:03:47]>> I know, I want her to feel like she can calm me. Yeah.

[00:05:31]Also, one of my favorite things is breaking stereotypes. So, when I show up to get a snake, they're like, "Oh, hold on. Maybe these snakes aren't as scary as I thought. If she can do it, maybe I could learn a little bit about snakes and their behavior and do the same thing that she did." I think that the more you can learn about your native snake species, the better and safer everyone [music] is.
