Cool, dry and sunny Mother's Day | WTOL 11 WeatherAñadido:
Happy to have you along on this Saturday morning. This Sunday morning. Goodness, so my brain is going a little slow there.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there. We had you have sunshine that will be with us for most of the day. In fact, pretty nice conditions overall.
It's going to be a little on the cooler side, but we've been used to that at least down for the last couple of days and we are tracking the chance for some frost coming up this week as well as our next rain chances, but we also are tracking a warm-up as well. I know that's kind of what everyone wants to know about when the weather's going to get super super nice. I've got that here for you. Let's go hour by hour for the rest of today. So we'll see some clouds generally increasing as we get later on into the evening, but mostly sunny skies for most of the day. Heading into Monday morning, we're going to see a mixture of of sunshine and clouds and we'll hold on to that even into Monday afternoon and evening, but here comes Tuesday. This is what we're watching. So notice these skies are clear in the morning. Chance of frost. So if you still have any of those springtime flowers out there, you may need to protect them or just bring them indoors for the overnight hours.
We'll see some sunshine to start, but then those clouds are going to really fill in during the evening time and this is our next weather maker that will bring rain chances for us kind of starting during the evening time. We're going to hold on to this rain through the overnight hours even into early hours of Wednesday, but by 5:00 we'll start to see some of that move on out of the area. Then we'll start to see a much drier pattern settling in for the second half of the week. Rainfall totals do look relatively light. Anywhere from a quarter to a half inch of rain does look likely as that system moves through.
Again, Tuesday evening through the overnight hours and then ending early on Wednesday, but some additional rainfall for our area plants. Now, this is what I want to show you. This is some good news here. That cool air that's been settled in overhead, that is going to finally kick on out of here and this high pressure is going to build right back into the southern Great Lakes. That's going to help push in all that much warmer air here and notice these oranges, even these reds here. That is a sign we're going to see a warm up for our area and it's certainly going to feel more like summer as compared to spring. Rain chances, here's those rain chances for Tuesday. Again, this is going to be during the evening time lasting during the overnight hours and starting to drop off by Wednesday. We turn dry for Thursday and Friday and then maybe an isolated storm chance possible for the following Saturday, but I want to show you that warm up that I was talking about. We're going to be cooler during the first half of this week. Again, we're going to hold on to the 60s for most of it. Next weekend though, look at this. Upper 60s for Friday, upper 70s for both Saturday and Sunday and then as we head into the following week, yes, we are back into the 80s, partly sunny skies and we're watching our next chance then for a few showers and storms to move in for that Tuesday. Still staying warm though, highs into the upper 70s. That's a look at your extended forecast.
